Hebrews 3 [NASB:NIV]

  1. Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;
  2. He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.
  3. For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.
  4. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.
  5. Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;
  1. Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.
  2. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house.
  3. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
  4. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
  5. Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future.

  1. but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house--whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
  2. Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,
  3. DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS,
  4. WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIED Me BY TESTING Me, AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY YEARS.
  5. "THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION, AND SAID, 'THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS';
  1. But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
  2. So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,
  3. do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert,
  4. where your fathers tested and tried me and for forty years saw what I did.
  5. That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.'

  1. AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, 'THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.'"
  2. Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
  3. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
  4. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
  5. while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME."
  1. So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' "
  2. See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
  3. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
  4. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.
  5. As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."

  1. For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
  2. And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
  3. And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
  4. So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
  1. Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
  2. And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert?
  3. And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?
  4. So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
