Hebrews 3 [NIV:KJV]

  1. Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.
  2. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house.
  3. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.
  4. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
  5. Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future.
  1. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
  2. Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
  3. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
  4. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
  5. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

  1. But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
  2. So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,
  3. do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert,
  4. where your fathers tested and tried me and for forty years saw what I did.
  5. That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.'
  1. But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
  2. Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
  3. Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
  4. When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
  5. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

  1. So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' "
  2. See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
  3. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
  4. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.
  5. As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."
  1. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
  2. Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
  3. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
  4. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
  5. While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

  1. Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
  2. And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert?
  3. And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed?
  4. So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
  1. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
  2. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
  3. And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
  4. So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
