  1. 亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊不給他生兒女．撒萊有一個使女名叫夏甲、是埃及人。
  2. 撒萊對亞伯蘭說、耶和華使我不能生育、求你和我的使女同房、或者我可以因他得孩子。〔得孩子原文作被建立〕亞伯蘭聽從了撒萊的話．
  3. 於是亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊、將使女埃及人夏甲給了丈夫為妾．那時亞伯蘭在迦南已經住了十年。
  4. 亞伯蘭與夏甲同房、夏甲就懷了孕．他見自己有孕、就小看他的主母。
  5. 撒萊對亞伯蘭說、我因你受屈、我將我的使女放在你懷中、他見自己有了孕就小看我、願耶和華在你我中間判斷。
  1. Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar;
  2. so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her." Abram agreed to what Sarai said.
  3. So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife.
  4. He slept with Hagar, and she conceived. When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress.
  5. Then Sarai said to Abram, "You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me."
 
 
  1. 亞伯蘭對撒萊說、使女在你手下、你可以隨意待他．撒萊苦待他、他就從撒萊面前逃走了。
  2. 耶和華的使者在曠野、書珥路上的水泉旁遇見他、
  3. 對他說、撒萊的使女夏甲、你從那裡來、要往那裡去．夏甲說、我從我的主母撒萊面前逃出來。
  4. 耶和華的使者對他說、你回到你主母那裡、服在他手下。
  5. 又說、我必使你的後裔極其繁多、甚至不可勝數。
  1. "Your servant is in your hands," Abram said. "Do with her whatever you think best." Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.
  2. The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur.
  3. And he said, "Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?" "I'm running away from my mistress Sarai," she answered.
  4. Then the angel of the LORD told her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her."
  5. The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count."
 
 
  1. 並說、你如今懷孕要生一個兒子、可以給他起名叫以實瑪利、因為耶和華聽見了你的苦情。〔以實瑪利就是　神聽見的意思〕
  2. 他為人必像野驢．他的手要攻打人、人的手也要攻打他、他必住在眾弟兄的東邊。
  3. 夏甲就稱那對他說話的耶和華為看顧人的　神．因而說、在這裡我也看見那看顧我的麼。
  4. 所以這井名叫庇耳拉海萊．這井正在加低斯、和巴列中間。
  5. 後來夏甲給亞伯蘭生了一個兒子．亞伯蘭給他起名叫以實瑪利。
  1. The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery.
  2. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers."
  3. She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me."
  4. That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi ; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered.
  5. So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.
 
 
  1. 夏甲給亞伯蘭生以實瑪利的時候、亞伯蘭年八十六歲。
  1. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.
