  1. On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
  2. Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
  3. Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
  4. And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied unto Tobiah:
  5. And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
  1. 當日人念摩西的律法書給百姓聽．遇見書上寫著說、亞捫人和摩押人永不可入　神的會．
  2. 因為他們沒有拿食物和水來、迎接以色列人、且雇了巴蘭咒詛他們．但我們的　神使那咒詛變為祝福。
  3. 以色列民聽見這律法、就與一切閑雜人絕交。
  4. 先是蒙派管理我們　神殿中庫房的祭司以利亞實、與多比雅結親、
  5. 便為他豫備一間大屋子、就是從前收存素祭、乳香、器皿、和照命令供給利未人、歌唱的、守門的、五榖、新酒、和油的十分之一、並歸祭司舉祭的屋子。
 
 
  1. But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
  2. And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
  3. And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber.
  4. Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.
  5. And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
  1. 那時我不在耶路撒冷．因為巴比倫王亞達薛西三十二年、我回到王那裡．過了多日我向王告假。
  2. 我來到耶路撒冷、就知道以利亞實為多比雅在　神殿的院內、豫備屋子的那件惡事。
  3. 我甚惱怒、就把多比雅的一切家具、從屋裡都拋出去、
  4. 吩咐人潔淨這屋子、遂將　神殿的器皿、和素祭乳香又搬進去。
  5. 我見利未人所當得的分、無人供給他們、甚至供職的利未人、與歌唱的、俱各奔回自己的田地去了。
 
 
  1. Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
  2. Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
  3. And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
  4. Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof.
  5. In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
  1. 我就斥責官長說、為何離棄　神的殿呢．我便招聚利未人、使他們照舊供職。
  2. 猶大眾人就把五榖、新酒、和油的十分之一、送入庫房。
  3. 我派祭司示利米雅、文士撒督、和利未人毘大雅作庫官管理庫房．副官、是哈難、哈難是撒刻的兒子、撒刻是瑪他尼的兒子．這些人都是忠信的、他們的職分是將所供給的分給他們的弟兄。
  4. 我的　神阿、求你因這事記念我、不要塗抹我為　神的殿、與其中的禮節、所行的善。
  5. 那些日子我在猶大見有人在安息日醡酒、〔原文作踹酒醡〕搬運禾捆、馱在驢上．又把酒、葡萄、無花果、和各樣的擔子、在安息日擔入耶路撒冷、我就在他們賣食物的那日、警戒他們。
 
 
  1. There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
  2. Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
  3. Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
  4. And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
  5. So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.
  1. 又有推羅人住在耶路撒冷．他們把魚、和各樣貨物、運進來、安息日賣給猶大人。
  2. 我就斥責猶大的貴冑、說、你們怎麼行這惡事、犯了安息日呢。
  3. 從前你們列祖、豈不是這樣行、以致我們　神使一切災禍臨到我們和這城麼。現在你們還犯安息日、使忿怒越發臨到以色列。
  4. 在安息日的前一日、耶路撒冷城門有黑影的時候、我就吩咐人將門關鎖、不過安息日不准開放．我又派我幾個僕人管理城門、免得有人在安息日擔甚麼擔子進城。
  5. 於是商人、和販賣各樣貨物的、一兩次住宿在耶路撒冷城外。
 
 
  1. Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
  2. And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
  3. In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
  4. And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people.
  5. And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
  1. 我就警戒他們說、你們為何在城外住宿呢．若再這樣、我必下手拿辦你們。從此以後、他們在安息日不再來了。
  2. 我吩咐利未人潔淨自己、來守城門、使安息日為聖。我的　神阿、求你因這事記念我、照你的大慈愛憐恤我。
  3. 那些日子我也見猶大人娶了亞實突、亞捫、摩押的女子為妻。
  4. 他們的兒女說話、一半是亞實突的話、不會說猶大的話、所說的是照著各族的方言。
  5. 我就斥責他們、咒詛他們、打了他們幾個人、拔下他們的頭髮、叫他們指著　神起誓、必不將自己的女兒嫁給外邦人的兒子、也不為自己和兒子娶他們的女兒。
 
 
  1. Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
  2. Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
  3. And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
  4. Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
  5. Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;
  1. 我又說、以色列王所羅門不是在這樣的事上犯罪麼．在多國中並沒有一王像他、且蒙他　神所愛、　神立他作以色列全國的王．然而連他也被外邦女子引誘犯罪。
  2. 如此、我豈聽你們行這大惡、娶外邦女子干犯我們的　神呢。
  3. 大祭司以利亞實的孫子耶何耶大的一個兒子、是和倫人參巴拉的女婿．我就從我這裡把他趕出去。
  4. 我的　神阿、求你記念他們的罪．因為他們玷污了祭司的職任、違背你與祭司利未人所立的約。
  5. 這樣、我潔淨他們、使他們離絕一切外邦人、派定祭司和利未人的班次、使他們各盡其職．
 
 
  1. And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
  1. 我又派百姓按定期獻柴、和初熟的土產。我的　神阿、求你記念我、施恩與我。
