Psalms 31 [NIV:KJV]

  1. In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.
  2. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
  3. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
  4. Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.
  5. Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.
  1. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
  2. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
  3. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
  4. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
  5. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

  1. I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I trust in the LORD.
  2. I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.
  3. You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place.
  4. Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief.
  5. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak.
  1. I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
  2. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
  3. And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
  4. Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
  5. For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

  1. Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors; I am a dread to my friends-- those who see me on the street flee from me.
  2. I am forgotten by them as though I were dead; I have become like broken pottery.
  3. For I hear the slander of many; there is terror on every side; they conspire against me and plot to take my life.
  4. But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."
  5. My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.
  1. I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
  2. I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
  3. For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
  4. But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
  5. My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

  1. Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.
  2. Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and lie silent in the grave.
  3. Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.
  4. How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.
  5. In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.
  1. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
  2. Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
  3. Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
  4. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
  5. Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

  1. Praise be to the LORD, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city.
  2. In my alarm I said, "I am cut off from your sight!" Yet you heard my cry for mercy when I called to you for help.
  3. Love the LORD, all his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full.
  4. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD.
  1. Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
  2. For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
  3. O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
  4. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
