Psalms 73 [NASB:KJV]

  1. Surely God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart!
  2. But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, My steps had almost slipped.
  3. For I was envious of the arrogant As I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
  4. For there are no pains in their death, And their body is fat.
  5. They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like mankind.
  1. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
  2. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
  3. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
  4. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
  5. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.

  1. Therefore pride is their necklace; The garment of violence covers them.
  2. Their eye bulges from fatness; The imaginations of their heart run riot.
  3. They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; They speak from on high.
  4. They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth.
  5. Therefore his people return to this place, And waters of abundance are drunk by them.
  1. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
  2. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
  3. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
  4. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
  5. Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.

  1. They say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?"
  2. Behold, these are the wicked; And always at ease, they have increased in wealth.
  3. Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence;
  4. For I have been stricken all day long And chastened every morning.
  5. If I had said, "I will speak thus," Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.
  1. And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
  2. Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
  3. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
  4. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
  5. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.

  1. When I pondered to understand this, It was troublesome in my sight
  2. Until I came into the sanctuary of God; Then I perceived their end.
  3. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction.
  4. How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors!
  5. Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when aroused, You will despise their form.
  1. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
  2. Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
  3. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
  4. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
  5. As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.

  1. When my heart was embittered And I was pierced within,
  2. Then I was senseless and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.
  3. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.
  4. With Your counsel You will guide me, And afterward receive me to glory.
  5. Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
  1. Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
  2. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
  3. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
  4. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
  5. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

  1. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
  2. For, behold, those who are far from You will perish; You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.
  3. But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.
  1. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
  2. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
  3. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
