  1. Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and seized them.
  2. And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem to King Hezekiah with a large army And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool on the highway of the fuller's field.
  3. Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to him.
  4. Then Rabshakeh said to them, "Say now to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria, "What is this confidence that you have?
  5. "I say, 'Your counsel and strength for the war are only empty words.' Now on whom do you rely, that you have rebelled against me?
  1. 希西家王十四年、亞述王西拿基立、上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固城、將城攻取。
  2. 亞述王從拉吉差遣拉伯沙基、率領大軍、往耶路撒冷到希西家王那裡去.他就站在上池的水溝旁、在漂布地的大路上。
  3. 於是希勒家的兒子家宰以利亞敬、並書記舍伯那、和亞薩的兒子史官約亞、出來見拉伯沙基。
  4. 拉伯沙基對他們說、你們去告訴希西家說、亞述大王如此說、你所倚靠的有甚麼可仗賴的呢。
  5. 你說、有打仗的計謀和能力.我看不過是虛話、你到底倚靠誰、纔背叛我呢。
 
 
  1. "Behold, you rely on the staff of this crushed reed, even on Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him.
  2. "But if you say to me, 'We trust in the LORD our God,' is it not He whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, 'You shall worship before this altar'?
  3. "Now therefore, come make a bargain with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.
  4. "How then can you repulse one official of the least of my master's servants and rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
  5. "Have I now come up without the LORD'S approval against this land to destroy it? The LORD said to me, 'Go up against this land and destroy it.'"'"
  1. 看哪、你所倚靠的埃及、是那壓傷的葦杖、人若靠這杖、就必刺透他的手.埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人、也是這樣。
  2. 你若對我說、我們倚靠耶和華我們的 神.希西家豈不是將 神的邱壇、和祭壇廢去、且對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說、你們當在這壇前敬拜麼。
  3. 現在你把當頭給我主亞述王、我給你二千匹馬、看你這一面騎馬的人彀不彀。
  4. 若不然、怎能打敗我主臣僕中最小的軍長呢.你竟倚靠埃及的戰車馬兵麼。
  5. 現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地、豈沒有耶和華的意思麼.耶和華吩咐我說、你上去攻擊毀滅這地罷。
 
 
  1. Then Eliakim and Shebna and Joah said to Rabshakeh, "Speak now to your servants in Aramaic, for we understand it; and do not speak with us in Judean in the hearing of the people who are on the wall."
  2. But Rabshakeh said, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, doomed to eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?"
  3. Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in Judean and said, "Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
  4. "Thus says the king, 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you;
  5. nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, "The LORD will surely deliver us, this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria."
  1. 以利亞敬、舍伯那、約亞、對拉伯沙基說、求你用亞蘭言語和僕人說話、因為我們懂得、不要用猶大言語和我們說話達到城上百姓的耳中。
  2. 拉伯沙基說、我主差遣我來、豈是單對你和你的主說這些話麼、不也是對這些坐在城上、要與你們一同喫自己糞喝自己尿的人說麼。
  3. 於是拉伯沙基站著、用猶大言語、大聲喊著說、你們當聽亞述大王的話。
  4. 王如此說、你們不要被希西家欺哄了、因他不能拯救你們.
  5. 也不要聽希西家使你們倚靠耶和華說、耶和華必要拯救我們、這城必不交在亞述王的手中。
 
 
  1. 'Do not listen to Hezekiah,' for thus says the king of Assyria, 'Make your peace with me and come out to me, and eat each of his vine and each of his fig tree and drink each of the waters of his own cistern,
  2. until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
  3. 'Beware that Hezekiah does not mislead you, saying, "The LORD will deliver us." Has any one of the gods of the nations delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
  4. 'Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And when have they delivered Samaria from my hand?
  5. 'Who among all the gods of these lands have delivered their land from my hand, that the LORD would deliver Jerusalem from my hand?'"
  1. 不要聽希西家的話、因亞述王如此說、你們要與我和好、出來投降我、各人就可以喫自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子、喝自己井裡的水.
  2. 等我來領你們到一個地方、與你們本地一樣、就是有五穀和新酒之地、有糧食和葡萄園之地。
  3. 你們要謹防、恐怕希西家勸導你們說、耶和華必拯救我們.列國的神有那一個救他本國脫離亞述王的手呢。
  4. 哈馬和亞珥拔的神在那裡呢、西法瓦音的神在那裡呢、他們曾救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手麼。
  5. 這些國的神、有誰曾救自己的國脫離我的手呢.難道耶和華能救耶路撒冷脫離我的手麼。
 
 
  1. But they were silent and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, "Do not answer him."
  2. Then Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
  1. 百姓靜默不言、並不回答一句、因為王曾吩咐說、不要回答他。
  2. 當下希勒家的兒子家宰以利亞敬和書記舍伯那、並亞薩的兒子史官約亞、都撕裂衣服、來到希西家那裡、將拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。
