- 그 뒤에 예수께서 성령의 인도로 광야에 나가 악마에게 유혹을 받으셨다.
- 사십 주야를 단식하시고 나서 몹시 시장하셨을 때에
- 유혹하는 자가 와서 "당신이 하느님의 아들이거든 이 돌더러 빵이 되라고 해보시오." 하고 말하였다.
- 예수께서는 "성서에 '사람이 빵으로만 사는 것이 아니라 하느님의 입에서 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살리라.' 하지 않았느냐?" 하고 대답하셨다.
- 그러자 악마는 예수를 거룩한 도시로 데리고 가서 성전 꼭대기에 세우고

- Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil.
- After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
- The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."
- Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
- Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

- "당신이 하느님의 아들이거든 뛰어내려 보시오. 성서에, '하느님이 천사들을 시켜 너를 시중들게 하시리니 그들이 손으로 너를 받들어 너의 발이 돌에 부딪히지 않게 하시리라.' 하지 않았소?" 하고 말하였다.
- 예수께서는 "'주님이신 너의 하느님을 떠보지 말라.'는 말씀도 성서에 있다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 악마는 다시 아주 높은 산으로 예수를 데리고 가서 세상의 모든 나라와 그 화려한 모습을 보여주며
- "당신이 내 앞에 절하면 이 모든 것을 당신에게 주겠소." 하고 말하였다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 "사탄아, 물러가라! 성서에 '주님이신 너희 하느님을 경배하고 그분만을 섬겨라.' 하시지 않았느냐?" 하고 대답하셨다.

- "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: " 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'"
- Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
- Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
- "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
- Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'"

- 마침내 악마는 물러가고 천사들이 와서 예수께 시중들었다.
- 요한이 잡혔다는 말을 들으시고 예수께서는 다시 갈릴래아로 가셨다.
- 그러나 나자렛에 머물지 않으시고 즈불룬과 납달리 지방 호숫가에 있는 가파르나움으로 가서 사셨다.
- 이리하여 예언자 이사야를 시켜,
- "즈불룬과 납달리, 호수로 가는 길, 요르단 강 건너편, 이방인의 갈릴래아.

- Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
- When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee.
- Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--
- to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
- "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, along the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--

- 어둠 속에 앉은 백성이 큰 빛을 보겠고 죽음의 그늘진 땅에 사는 사람들에게 빛이 비치리라." 하신 말씀이 이루어졌다.
- 이 때부터 예수께서는 전도를 시작하시며 "회개하여라. 하늘 나라가 다가왔다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 예수께서 갈릴래아 호숫가를 걸어가시다가 베드로라는 시몬과 안드레아 형제가 그물을 던지고 있는 것을 보셨다. 그들은 어부였다.
- 예수께서 그들에게 "나를 따라오너라. 내가 너희를 사람 낚는 어부로 만들겠다." 하시자
- 그들은 곧 그물을 버리고 예수를 따라갔다.

- the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."
- From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
- As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
- "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
- At once they left their nets and followed him.

- 예수께서는 거기서 조금 더 가시다가 이번에는 제베대오의 아들 야고보와 요한 형제를 보셨는데 그들은 자기 아버지 제베대오와 함께 배에서 그물을 손질하고 있었다. 예수께서 그들을 부르시자
- 그들은 곧 배를 버리고 아버지를 떠나 예수를 따라갔다.
- 예수께서 온 갈릴래아를 두루 다니시며 회당에서 가르치시고 하늘 나라의 복음을 선포하시며 백성 가운데서 병자와 허약한 사람들을 모두 고쳐주셨다.
- 예수의 소문이 온 시리아에 퍼지자 사람들은 갖가지 병에 걸려 신음하는 환자들과 마귀 들린 사람들과 간질병자들과 중풍병자들을 예수께 데려왔다. 예수께서는 그들도 모두 고쳐주셨다.
- 그러자 갈릴래아와 데카폴리스와 예루살렘과 유다와 요르단 강 건너편에서 온 많은 무리가 예수를 따랐다.

- Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,
- and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
- Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
- News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
- Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
