- 그 무렵 어느 안식일에 예수께서 밀밭 사이를 지나가시게 되었는데 제자들이 배가 고파서 밀 이삭을 잘라먹었다.
- 이것을 본 바리사이파 사람들이 예수께 "저것 보십시오. 당신의 제자들이 안식일에 해서는 안 될 일을 하고 있습니다." 하고 말했다.
- 예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. "너희는 다윗의 일행이 굶주렸을 때에 다윗이 한 일을 읽어보지 못하였느냐?
- 그는 하느님의 집에 들어가서 그 일행과 함께 제단에 차려놓은 빵을 먹지 않았느냐? 그것은 사제들밖에는 다윗도 그 일행도 먹을 수 없는 빵이었다.
- 또 안식일에 성전 안에서는 사제들이 안식일의 규정을 어겨도 그것이 죄가 되지 않는다는 것을 율법책에서 읽어보지 못하였느냐?

- At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.
- When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
- He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?
- He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread--which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests.
- Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent?

- 잘 들어라. 성전보다 더 큰 이가 여기에 있다.
- '내가 바라는 것은 나에게 동물을 잡아 바치는 제사가 아니라 이웃에게 베푸는 자선이다.' 하신 말씀이 무슨 뜻인지 알았더라면 너희는 무죄한 사람들을 죄인으로 단정하지는 않았을 것이다.
- 사람의 아들이 바로 안식일의 주인이다."
- 예수께서 다른 데로 가셔서 그 곳 회당에 들어가셨다.
- 거기에 마침 한쪽 손이 오그라든 사람이 있었는데, 사람들은 예수를 고발할 구실을 찾으려고 "안식일에 병을 고쳐주어도 법에 어긋나지 않습니까?" 하고 넌지시 물었다.

- I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
- If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent.
- For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
- Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue,
- and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"

- 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "너희 가운데 어떤 사람에게 양 한 마리가 있었는데 그 양이 안식일에 구덩이에 빠졌다고 하자. 그럴 때에 그 양을 끌어내지 않을 사람이 있겠느냐?
- 사람이 양보다 얼마나 더 귀하냐? 그러므로 안식일에라도 착한 일을 하는 것은 법에 어긋나지 않는다."
- 그리고 나서 그 불구자에게 "손을 펴라." 하고 말씀하셨다. 그가 손을 펴자 다른 손과 같이 성해졌다.
- 그러나 바리사이파 사람들은 물러가서 어떻게 예수를 없애버릴까 하고 모의하였다.
- 예수께서는 그 일을 알아채시고 거기를 떠나셨다. 그런데 또 많은 사람들이 뒤따라왔으므로 예수께서는 모든 병자를 고쳐주시고

- He said to them, "If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?
- How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath."
- Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.
- But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.
- Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick,

- 당신을 남에게 알리지 말아달라고 신신당부하셨다.
- 그리하여 예언자 이사야를 시켜,
- "보아라, 내가 택한 나의 종 내 사랑하는 사람, 내 마음에 드는 사람, 그에게 내 성령을 부어주리니 그는 이방인들에게 정의를 선포하리라.
- 그는 다투지도 않고 큰소리도 내지 않으리니 거리에서 그의 소리를 들을 자 없으리라.
- 그는 상한 갈대도 꺾지 않고 꺼져가는 심지도 끄지 않으리라. 드디어 그는 정의를 승리로 이끌어가리니

- warning them not to tell who he was.
- This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
- "Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
- He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.
- A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.

- 이방인들이 그 이름에 희망을 걸리라." 하신 말씀이 이루어졌다.

- In his name the nations will put their hope."
