출애굽기 9:1-10:29

 모세는 바로 앞에서 악질, 독종, 우박, 메뚜기, 그리고 흑암 재앙을 행하였다. 그러나 마음이 완강한 바로는 이에 굴하기는커녕 오히려 모세를 위협하였다. 바로가 완강히 고집을 굽히지 않고 모세를 대적한 것은 하나님께서 권능을 행하심으로써 자신이 야웨 되심을 나타내시기 위해 바로의 마음을 내버려 두셨기 때문이었다.
  
  가축, 독종, 우박 재앙(9:1-9:35)    
 
  1. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "너는 파라오에게 가서 히브리인의 하느님 야훼의 말씀이라 하고 이렇게 전하여라. '나의 백성을 내보내어 나를 예배하게 하여라.
  2. 만일 네가 그들을 내보내지 않고 그대로 붙잡아 두려고 한다면
  3. 야훼의 손이 들에 있는 너의 가축들, 말과 나귀와 낙타와 소와 양떼를 쳐서 무서운 병이 들게 할 것이다.
  4. 그러나 야훼는 이스라엘 백성의 가축을 이집트인들의 가축과 구별하여 이스라엘 백성의 것은 하나도 죽지 않게 할 것이다.'"
  5. 야훼께서는 때를 정하시고 말씀하셨다. "내일 이 땅에서 이 일을 이루리라."
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, so that they may worship me."
  2. If you refuse to let them go and continue to hold them back,
  3. the hand of the LORD will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field--on your horses and donkeys and camels and on your cattle and sheep and goats.
  4. But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and that of Egypt, so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.' "
  5. The LORD set a time and said, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this in the land."
  1. 이튿날, 야훼께서는 말씀하신 대로 행하셨다. 이집트인들의 가축은 다 죽었는데 이스라엘 백성의 가축은 한 마리도 죽지 않았다.
  2. 파라오는 사람을 보내어 이스라엘인들의 가축은 하나도 죽지 않았음을 알았다. 그런데도 파라오는 고집을 세워 이스라엘 백성을 내보내지 않았다.
  3. 야훼께서 모세와 아론에게 이르셨다. "가마솥 밑에 붙은 그을음을 두 손에 가득히 움켜쥐어라. 그리고 파라오 앞에 가서 모세가 그것을 공중에 뿌려라.
  4. 그 그을음이 먼지가 되어 이집트 온 땅에 퍼져 나가 이집트 사람과 가축은 종기가 나서 곪아터지게 되리라."
  5. 그들은 가마솥 밑에서 그을음을 긁어 모아가지고 파라오 앞에 나섰다. 모세가 그것을 공중에 뿌리자 사람과 가축은 종기가 나서 곪아터지게 되었다.
  1. And the next day the LORD did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.
  2. Pharaoh sent men to investigate and found that not even one of the animals of the Israelites had died. Yet his heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of soot from a furnace and have Moses toss it into the air in the presence of Pharaoh.
  4. It will become fine dust over the whole land of Egypt, and festering boils will break out on men and animals throughout the land."
  5. So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on men and animals.
  1. 이집트의 마술사들은 종기 때문에 모세 앞에 나서지도 못하게 되었다. 마술사들까지도 온 이집트에 번진 종기에 걸렸던 것이다.
  2. 그러나 야훼께서 파라오로 하여금 억지를 부리게 하셨으므로 그는 그들의 말을 듣지 않았다. 야훼께서 말씀하신 대로였다.
  3. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "너는 아침 일찍 일어나 파라오 앞에 나가서 히브리인들의 하느님 야훼의 말씀이라 하고 이렇게 전하여라. '나의 백성을 내보내어 나를 예배하게 하여라.
  4. 내가 이번에는 온갖 재앙을 너와 너의 신하들과 너의 백성에게 내려 온 누리에 나 같은 신이 없음을 너에게 기어이 알리리라.
  5. 이제 나는 손을 들어 너와 너의 백성을 질병으로 쳐서 땅 위에서 쓸어버릴 수도 있지만,
  1. The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them and on all the Egyptians.
  2. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said to Moses.
  3. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me,
  4. or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.
  5. For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.
  1. 까닭이 있어 너를 남겨두리라. 그것은 너에게 나의 힘을 나타내어 이 땅 위에서 나의 이름을 두루 떨치려는 것이다.
  2. 그런데 너는 아직도 나의 백성을 업신여겨 내보내려 하지 않으니,
  3. 내일 이맘때 나는 우박을 억수로 퍼부으리라. 이집트에 나라가 선 뒤 오늘까지 일찍이 보지 못했던 우박을 내리리라.
  4. 이제 너는 사람을 보내어 너의 가축뿐 아니라 들에 있는 것을 안전한 데로 모아들여라. 들에 남아서 미처 집으로 돌아오지 못한 사람이나 짐승은 쏟아지는 우박에 맞아 모조리 죽으리라.'"
  5. 파라오의 신하들 가운데서 야훼의 말씀을 두려워한 자들은 제 종과 가축들을 집으로 모아들였으나
  1. But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
  2. You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go.
  3. Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.
  4. Give an order now to bring your livestock and everything you have in the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall on every man and animal that has not been brought in and is still out in the field, and they will die.' "
  5. Those officials of Pharaoh who feared the word of the LORD hurried to bring their slaves and their livestock inside.
  1. 야훼의 말씀을 허술히 여긴 자들은 들에 있는 종과 가축들을 그대로 내버려두었다.
  2. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "너는 하늘을 향하여 팔을 쳐들어라. 그리하면 우박이 이집트 땅에 쏟아지리라. 이집트 땅의 사람과 가축과 모든 풀 위에 쏟아지리라."
  3. 모세가 하늘을 향하여 지팡이를 쳐들자, 야훼께서 천둥 소리와 함께 우박을 쏟으셨다. 번갯불이 땅으로 비꼈다. 야훼께서 이집트 땅에 우박을 쏟으신 것이다.
  4. 번개가 번쩍거리며 우박이 맹렬하게 쏟아졌다. 이집트 나라가 생긴 뒤로 일찍이 볼 수 없었던 심한 우박이었다.
  5. 이집트 전국에 걸쳐 사람을 비롯하여 가축이며 들에 있는 풀들이 모두 우박을 맞았고 나무들도 우박을 맞아 모조리 부러졌다.
  1. But those who ignored the word of the LORD left their slaves and livestock in the field.
  2. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt--on men and animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt."
  3. When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky, the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed down to the ground. So the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt;
  4. hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth. It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had become a nation.
  5. Throughout Egypt hail struck everything in the fields--both men and animals; it beat down everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.
  1. 이스라엘 백성이 사는 고센 땅에만은 우박이 내리지 않았다.
  2. 파라오는 모세와 아론을 불러다가 말하였다. "내가 이제야 잘못을 깨달았다. 야훼께서 옳으시고 나와 나의 백성이 나빴다.
  3. 그러니 야훼께 기도해 다오. 하느님께서 발하시는 저 천둥 소리와 이 우박은 견디어낼 수가 없구나. 어서 가거라. 더 이상 너희를 이 곳에 붙들어두지 않겠다."
  4. 모세가 말하였다. "내가 이 성을 나서면 곧 야훼께 손을 들어 빌겠습니다. 그러면 저 천둥 소리가 멎고 우박이 그칠 것입니다. 그래서 이 땅도 야훼의 것임을 알려드리겠습니다.
  5. 그래도 당신과 당신의 신하들은 하느님 야훼를 두려워하지 않을 줄을 나는 잘 알고 있습니다."
  1. The only place it did not hail was the land of Goshen, where the Israelites were.
  2. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. "This time I have sinned," he said to them. "The LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong.
  3. Pray to the LORD, for we have had enough thunder and hail. I will let you go; you don't have to stay any longer."
  4. Moses replied, "When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the LORD's.
  5. But I know that you and your officials still do not fear the LORD God."
  1. 마침 보리는 이삭이 패고 아마는 꽃이 피어 있었으므로 그것들은 결딴났으나,
  2. 밀과 쌀보리만은 아직 이삭이 팰 때가 아니었으므로 그대로 남았다.
  3. 모세가 파라오 앞에서 물러나와 성 밖으로 나오면서 야훼께 손을 들어 기도하니 천둥 소리와 우박이 멎고 땅에 내리던 비도 멎었다.
  4. 파라오는 비가 그치고 우박과 천둥 소리가 그친 것을 보고는 다시 마음이 뒤틀려 신하들과 함께 고집을 부렸다.
  5. 파라오는 고집을 부려 이스라엘 백성을 내보내지 않았다. 야훼께서 모세를 시켜 하신 말씀대로였다.
  1. (The flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley had headed and the flax was in bloom.
  2. The wheat and spelt, however, were not destroyed, because they ripen later.)
  3. Then Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city. He spread out his hands toward the LORD; the thunder and hail stopped, and the rain no longer poured down on the land.
  4. When Pharaoh saw that the rain and hail and thunder had stopped, he sinned again: He and his officials hardened their hearts.
  5. So Pharaoh's heart was hard and he would not let the Israelites go, just as the LORD had said through Moses.
 
  메뚜기, 흑암 재앙(10:1-10:29)    
 
  1. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "너는 가서 파라오를 만나거라. 나는 그들에게 온갖 증거를 보이려고 그와 그의 신하들로 하여금 고집을 부리게 하였다.
  2. 이는 내가 이집트인들을 어떻게 혼내 주었고, 그들에게 어떤 증거를 보였는지를 네가 네 후손에게 대대로 자랑스레 이야기해 주도록 하려는 것이며, 너희로 하여금 내가 야훼임을 알게 하려는 것이다."
  3. 모세와 아론이 파라오에게 나아가 말하였다. "히브리인들의 하느님 야훼께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. '너는 언제까지 내 앞에서 굽히지 않고 버틸 셈이냐? 내 백성을 내보내어 나를 예배하게 하여라.
  4. 네가 내 백성을 내보내지 않으면 나는 내일 메뚜기를 너의 영토 안에 몰아넣겠다.
  5. 땅바닥이 보이지 않을 만큼 온통 메뚜기로 뒤덮으리라. 메뚜기들이 우박의 피해를 입지 않고 남은 것을 모조리 먹어치우고 너희가 가꾸는 들판의 나무들도 갉아먹으리라.
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of mine among them
  2. that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD."
  3. So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, "This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.
  4. If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow.
  5. They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields.
  1. 그뿐이랴! 너의 궁궐과 네 신하들의 집과 이집트인의 모든 집을 덮치리라. 이는 너의 할아버지의 할아버지들이 이 땅에 발붙인 뒤로 오늘까지 일찍이 보지 못한 것이리라.'" 이렇게 말하고 그들은 파라오의 앞에서 발길을 돌려 물러나왔다.
  2. 파라오의 신하들이 그에게 말하였다. "이자가 우리를 못살게 굴도록 언제까지 내버려두시렵니까? 이자들을 내보내어 저희의 신을 예배하게 하심이 좋을까 합니다. 이집트가 이미 망하게 되었음을 아직 모르십니까?"
  3. 그리하여 모세와 아론이 다시 파라오에게 불려갔다. "너희의 신 야훼께 예배를 드리러 가거라. 그런데 갈 사람은 누구누구냐?"
  4. 모세가 대답하였다. "우리는 어린이고 노인이고 모두 데리고 가야겠습니다. 아들 딸도 데려가고, 소떼와 양떼도 다 몰고 가야겠습니다. 야훼께 축제를 올리려는 것이니까요."
  5. 그러자 파라오가 호통을 쳤다. "내가 너희를 가족과 함께 내보내게 해달라고 야훼께 실컷 빌어보아라. 내가 너희에게 식구들을 딸려 보낼 성싶으냐? 허튼 수작은 부리지 마라.
  1. They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians--something neither your fathers nor your forefathers have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.' " Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh.
  2. Pharaoh's officials said to him, "How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the LORD their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?"
  3. Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. "Go, worship the LORD your God," he said. "But just who will be going?"
  4. Moses answered, "We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the LORD."
  5. Pharaoh said, "The LORD be with you--if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.
  1. 어림도 없다. 장정들이나 가서 야훼를 예배하여라. 너희가 바라던 것이 그것이 아니냐?" 그들은 파라오 앞에서 쫓겨났다.
  2. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "네 손을 이집트 땅 위로 뻗쳐라. 그러면 메뚜기가 이집트 온 땅에 몰려와서 이 나라 안에 있는 모든 푸성귀를 먹어치우리라. 우박의 피해에서 남은 모든 것을 먹어버리리라."
  3. 모세가 곧 이집트 땅 위로 지팡이를 뻗치자 야훼께서 그 땅에 주야로 샛바람이 불게 하셨다. 아침이 되어보니 샛바람이 메뚜기떼를 몰고 오는 것이었다.
  4. 메뚜기가 이집트 온 땅에 몰려와 전역에 내려앉았다. 이렇게 많은 메뚜기에게 뒤덮인 일은 전무후무한 일이었다.
  5. 온 땅을 새카맣게 덮은 메뚜기들은 우박의 피해에서 남은 땅의 모든 푸성귀와 나무 열매를 먹어버렸다. 온 이집트 땅에 풀이고 나무고 푸른 것이라고는 하나도 남지 않았다.
  1. No! Have only the men go; and worship the LORD, since that's what you have been asking for." Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh's presence.
  2. And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts will swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail."
  3. So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the LORD made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts;
  4. they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again.
  5. They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail--everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.
  1. 파라오는 급히 모세와 아론을 불러들여 말하였다. "너희의 신 야훼와 너희들에게 잘못했다.
  2. 한 번만 더 나의 잘못을 용서하여라. 너희의 신 야훼께 기도하여 이런 모양으로 죽지는 않게 해다오."
  3. 모세가 파라오의 앞에서 물러나와 야훼께 기도를 올리자
  4. 야훼께서는 바람의 방향을 바꾸어 세찬 해풍이 불게 하셨다. 그 바람은 이집트 땅에 있는 메뚜기를 한 마리도 남기지 않고 모조리 휩쓸어다가 홍해에 쓸어넣었다.
  5. 야훼께서는 파라오로 하여금 또 고집을 부리게 하시었다. 그리하여 그는 이스라엘 백성을 내보내지 않았다.
  1. Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you.
  2. Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the LORD your God to take this deadly plague away from me."
  3. Moses then left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD.
  4. And the LORD changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which caught up the locusts and carried them into the Red Sea. Not a locust was left anywhere in Egypt.
  5. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let the Israelites go.
  1. 야훼께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "너는 하늘을 향하여 팔을 뻗어라. 그러면 이집트 땅이 온통 손으로 만져질 만큼 짙은 어둠에 휩싸이게 되리라."
  2. 모세가 하늘을 향하여 팔을 뻗치니 이집트 땅이 온통 짙은 어둠에 싸여 사흘 동안 암흑 세계가 되었다.
  3. 사흘 동안 사람들은 서로 알아보지도 못했고 제자리에서 움직이지도 못했으나, 이스라엘 백성이 사는 고장만은 환하였다.
  4. 파라오가 모세를 불러들여 말하였다. "나가서 야훼를 예배하여라. 딸린 식구들은 데리고 가도 좋지만 너희의 양떼와 소떼만은 남겨두어야 한다."
  5. 모세가 말을 받았다. "그렇다면 우리 하느님 야훼께 드릴 제물과 번제물을 당신이 손수 마련해 주시겠다는 말씀입니까?
  1. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt--darkness that can be felt."
  2. So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days.
  3. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
  4. Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, "Go, worship the LORD. Even your women and children may go with you; only leave your flocks and herds behind."
  5. But Moses said, "You must allow us to have sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God.
  1. 우리는 가축을 한 마리도 남기지 않고 다 몰고 가야겠습니다. 그 가운데서 얼마를 골라서 우리 하느님 야훼께 바칠 터인데, 목적지에 닿을 때까지는 무엇을 야훼께 드려 예배할지 모릅니다."
  2. 야훼께서는 파라오로 하여금 또 고집을 부리게 하시었다. 그는 그들을 내보내려 하지 않았다.
  3. 파라오는 모세에게 호통을 쳤다. "썩 물러가거라. 다시는 내 얼굴을 볼 생각을 마라. 다시 내 앞에 얼씬거렸다가는 죽을 줄 알아라."
  4. 모세가 대답하였다. "그 말씀 잘하셨습니다. 나도 다시는 당신 앞에 나타나지 않겠습니다."
  1. Our livestock too must go with us; not a hoof is to be left behind. We have to use some of them in worshiping the LORD our God, and until we get there we will not know what we are to use to worship the LORD."
  2. But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he was not willing to let them go.
  3. Pharaoh said to Moses, "Get out of my sight! Make sure you do not appear before me again! The day you see my face you will die."
  4. "Just as you say," Moses replied, "I will never appear before you again."
