- 바리사이파 사람들이 와서 예수의 속을 떠보려고 하느님의 인정을 받은 표가 될 만한 기적을 보여달라고 하면서 말을 걸어왔다.
- 예수께서는 마음속으로 깊이 탄식하시며 "어찌하여 이 세대가 기적을 보여달라고 하는가! 나는 분명히 말한다. 이 세대에 보여줄 징조는 하나도 없다." 하시고는
- 그들을 떠나 다시 배를 타고 바다 건너편으로 가셨다.
- 제자들이 잊어버리고 빵을 가져오지 못하여 배 안에는 빵이 한 덩어리밖에 없었다.
- 예수께서 제자들에게 "바리사이파 사람들의 누룩과 헤로데의 누룩을 조심하여라." 하고 경고하시자

- The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.
- He sighed deeply and said, "Why does this generation ask for a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, no sign will be given to it."
- Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
- The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.
- "Be careful," Jesus warned them. "Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."

- 제자들은 "빵이 없구나!" 하며 서로 걱정하였다.
- 예수께서 그 눈치를 알아채시고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "빵이 없다고 걱정들을 하다니, 아직도 알지 못하고 깨닫지 못했느냐? 그렇게도 생각이 둔하냐?
- 너희는 눈이 있으면서도 알아보지 못하고 귀가 있으면서도 알아듣지 못하느냐? 벌써 다 잊어버렸느냐?
- 빵 다섯 개를 오천 명에게 나누어 먹였을 때에 남아서 거두어들인 빵 조각이 몇 광주리나 되었느냐?" 그들은 "열두 광주리였습니다." 하고 대답하였다.
- 또 "빵 일곱 개를 사천 명에게 나누어 먹였을 때에는 남은 조각을 몇 바구니나 거두어들였느냐?" 하고 물으시자 그들이 "일곱 바구니였습니다." 하고 대답했다.

- They discussed this with one another and said, "It is because we have no bread."
- Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
- Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don't you remember?
- When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" "Twelve," they replied.
- "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?" They answered, "Seven."

- 예수께서는 "그래도 아직 모르겠느냐?" 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 예수의 일행이 베싸이다에 이르렀을 때에 사람들이 소경 한 사람을 예수께 데리고 와서 손을 대어 고쳐주시기를 청하였다.
- 예수께서는 소경의 손을 잡고 마을 밖으로 데리고 나가서 그의 두 눈에 침을 바르고 손을 얹으신 다음 "무엇이 좀 보이느냐?" 하고 물으셨다.
- 그러자 그는 눈을 뜨면서 "나무 같은 것이 보이는데 걸어다니는 걸 보니 아마 사람들인가 봅니다." 하고 대답하였다.
- 예수께서 다시 그의 눈에 손을 대시자 눈이 밝아지고 완전히 성해져서 모든 것을 똑똑히 보게 되었다.

- He said to them, "Do you still not understand?"
- They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
- He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"
- He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."
- Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

- 예수께서는 "저 마을로는 돌아가지 마라." 하시며 그를 집으로 보내셨다.
- 예수께서 제자들과 함께 필립보의 가이사리아 지방에 있는 마을들을 향하여 길을 떠나셨다. 가시는 도중에 제자들에게 "사람들이 나를 누구라고 하더냐?" 하고 물으셨다.
- "세례자 요한이라고들 합니다. 그러나 엘리야라고 하는 사람들도 있고 예언자 중의 한 분이라고 하는 사람들도 있습니다." 하고 제자들이 대답하였다.
- "그러면 너희는 나를 누구라고 생각하느냐?" 하고 예수께서 다시 물으시자 베드로가 나서서 "선생님은 그리스도이십니다." 하고 대답하였다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 자기 이야기를 아무에게도 하지 말라고 단단히 당부하셨다.

- Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't go into the village."
- Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"
- They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."
- "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ."
- Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

- 그 때에 비로소 예수께서는 사람의 아들이 반드시 많은 고난을 받고 원로들과 대사제들과 율법학자들에게 버림을 받아 그들의 손에 죽었다가 사흘 만에 다시 살아나시게 될 것임을 제자들에게 가르쳐주셨다.
- 예수께서는 이 말씀을 명백하게 하셨던 것이다. 이 말씀을 듣고 베드로는 예수를 붙들고 그래서는 안 된다고 펄쩍 뛰었다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 돌아서서 제자들을 보신 다음 베드로에게 "사탄아, 물러가라. 하느님의 일은 생각하지 않고 사람의 일만 생각하는구나!" 하시며 꾸짖으셨다.
- 예수께서 군중과 제자들을 한 자리에 불러놓고 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "나를 따르려는 사람은 누구든지 자기를 버리고 제 십자가를 지고 따라야 한다.
- 제 목숨을 살리려는 사람은 잃을 것이며, 나 때문에 또 복음 때문에 제 목숨을 잃는 사람은 살릴 것이다.

- He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
- He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
- But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
- Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
- For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.

- 사람이 온 세상을 얻는다 해도 제 목숨을 잃는다면 무슨 이익이 있겠느냐?
- 사람이 목숨을 무엇과 바꿀 수 있겠느냐?
- 절개 없고 죄 많은 이 세대에서 누구든지 나와 내 말을 부끄럽게 여기면 사람의 아들도 아버지의 영광에 싸여 거룩한 천사들을 거느리고 올 때에 그를 부끄럽게 여길 것이다."

- What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
- Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
- If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
