사사기 17:1-18:31

 미가는 어머니의 은으로 우상을 만들고, 거할 곳을 찾던 레위인을 고용하여 제사장으로 삼았다. 기업을 구하던 단 지파는 정탐꾼을 보내 라이스를 정탐하게 했다. 단 자손들은 미가의 집에서 우상과 레위 소년을 강탈한 뒤, 라이스를 점령하고 그 곳에 거주하면서 우상을 섬겼다.
  
  미가의 우상(17:1-17:13)    
 
  1. 에브라임 산악 지대에 미가라 하는 사람이 있었다.
  2. (2ㄱ)그가 자기 어머니에게 말하였다. "어머니는 은화 천백 냥을 잃어버린 일이 있으시죠? 그 때 어머니는 그것을 훔친 사람을 저주하셨습니다. 저도 이 귀로 어머니의 말씀을 들었습니다. 그런데 보십시오. 그 돈이 여기 있습니다. 그것을 훔친 것은 바로 저입니다. (3ㄴ)여기 있으니 받아주십시오." (2ㄴ)그의 어머니가 대답하였다. "그래? 괜찮다. 너는 야훼께 복을 받아라."
  3. (3ㄱ)아들은 돈 천백 냥을 어머니에게 돌려드렸다. 어머니는 그것을 받고 말하였다. "내가 이 돈을 이 손으로 야훼께 거룩하게 바쳐, 내 아들을 위하여 신상을 부어 만들리라."
  4. 그리고 그의 어머니는 은화 이백 냥을 은장이에게 주어 신상을 만들게 하였다. 미가는 그 신상을 집에 모셨다.
  5. 미가는 그 신상을 모실 신당을 짓고 에봇과 데라빔을 만들고 아들 하나를 사제로 임명하였다.
  1. Now a man named Micah from the hill country of Ephraim
  2. said to his mother, "The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse--I have that silver with me; I took it." Then his mother said, "The LORD bless you, my son!"
  3. When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, "I solemnly consecrate my silver to the LORD for my son to make a carved image and a cast idol. I will give it back to you."
  4. So he returned the silver to his mother, and she took two hundred shekels of silver and gave them to a silversmith, who made them into the image and the idol. And they were put in Micah's house.
  5. Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some idols and installed one of his sons as his priest.
  1. 그 때는 이스라엘에 왕이 없어서 사람마다 제멋대로 하던 시대였다.
  2. 유다 지파에 속한 유다 베들레헴에 한 젊은이가 있었는데, 그는 레위인으로서 거기에 몸붙여 살고 있었다.
  3. 그는 제가 살던 성읍 유다 베들레헴을 떠나 다른 데 몸붙일 곳이 없나 찾아나섰다. 그래서 돌아다니다가 에브라임 산악 지대에 들어서 미가의 집에 다다랐다.
  4. 미가는 그에게 어디에서 오는 길이냐고 물었다. 그가 대답하였다. "나는 레위인입니다. 유다 베들레헴에 살다가 어디 몸붙일 데라도 없는가 하고 찾아 돌아다니는 길입니다."
  5. "내 집에 있으면서 어른이 되어주시고 사제가 되어주시오. 그러면 일 년에 은화 열 냥을 드리리다. 그리고 의식주 문제는 우리가 해결해 드리지요." 미가는 이렇게 그 레위인의 귀에 솔깃한 말을 하였다.
  1. In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
  2. A young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah, who had been living within the clan of Judah,
  3. left that town in search of some other place to stay. On his way he came to Micah's house in the hill country of Ephraim.
  4. Micah asked him, "Where are you from?" "I'm a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah," he said, "and I'm looking for a place to stay."
  5. Then Micah said to him, "Live with me and be my father and priest, and I'll give you ten shekels of silver a year, your clothes and your food."
  1. 레위인은 그의 집에 머물기를 승낙하였다. 그 젊은이는 미가의 친자식처럼 되었다.
  2. 그 젊은 레위인은 임직식을 거쳐 미가의 사제가 되어 그의 집에 머물렀다.

  1. So the Levite agreed to live with him, and the young man was to him like one of his sons.
  2. Then Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
  3. And Micah said, "Now I know that the LORD will be good to me, since this Levite has become my priest."
 
  단 지파의 이주(18:1-18:31)    
 
  1. 그 때에는 이스라엘에 왕이 없었다. 당시에 단 지파는 다른 이스라엘 지파처럼 자기네 몫으로 받을 유산이 없었으므로 정주할 땅을 찾고 있었다.
  2. 그리하여 단 사람들은 저희 가문에서 용감한 사람 다섯을 보내어 돌아다니며 그럴 듯한 땅을 찾아보게 하였다. 그들은 소라와 에스다올 출신이었다. 그들은 그럴듯한 땅을 찾아보라는 사명을 띠고 다니던 중 에브라임 산악 지대에 들어섰다가 미가의 집이 있는 곳에 이르러 그 곳에서 하룻밤 묵게 되었다.
  3. 그들은 미가의 집 근처에서 젊은 레위인의 목소리를 듣고 그가 있는 데로 가서 물었다. "누구를 만나서 이리로 오게 되었소? 여기에서 도대체 무엇을 하고 있는 거요? 그리고 여기는 어쩐 일이오?"
  4. 그는 자기가 미가에게 이러저러한 대접을 받으면서 사제로 고용되어 있는 몸이라고 하였다.
  5. 이 말을 듣고 그들은 저희의 사명이 성취될 것인지 하느님께 물어보아 달라고 부탁하였다.
  1. In those days Israel had no king. And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking a place of their own where they might settle, because they had not yet come into an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.
  2. So the Danites sent five warriors from Zorah and Eshtaol to spy out the land and explore it. These men represented all their clans. They told them, "Go, explore the land." The men entered the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah, where they spent the night.
  3. When they were near Micah's house, they recognized the voice of the young Levite; so they turned in there and asked him, "Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? Why are you here?"
  4. He told them what Micah had done for him, and said, "He has hired me and I am his priest."
  5. Then they said to him, "Please inquire of God to learn whether our journey will be successful."
  1. 그 사제는 안심하고 가라고 하면서 그들이 가는 길이 환히 트이도록 야훼께서 보살펴 주실 것이라고 일러주었다.
  2. 이 말을 듣고 다섯 사람이 길을 떠나 라이스에 이르러 보니, 그 곳 사람들은 시돈 사람들처럼 태평스럽게 살고 있었다. 땅에서는 안 나는 것이 없어, 아쉬운 것 없이 걱정 없이 마음놓고 살고 있었다. 게다가 시돈 사람들과도 멀리 떨어져 있었고 아람 사람들과도 아무 관계를 맺지 않고 있었다.
  3. 그들은 소라와 에스다올로 돌아와 경과를 묻는 친척들에게
  4. 말하였다. "어서 치러 올라갑시다. 우리는 정말 좋은 땅을 보고 왔습니다. 이렇게 멍하니 있을 때가 아닙니다. 우물쭈물하지 말고 가서 그 땅을 차지합시다.
  5. 가서들 보십시오. 땅은 넓은데 사람들은 방심하고 있습니다. 하느님께서는 정녕 우리에게 그 땅을 주셨습니다. 거기에는 세상에서 볼 수 있는 것이면 무엇이든지 다 있습니다. 없는 것이 없습니다."
  1. The priest answered them, "Go in peace. Your journey has the LORD's approval."
  2. So the five men left and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living in safety, like the Sidonians, unsuspecting and secure. And since their land lacked nothing, they were prosperous. Also, they lived a long way from the Sidonians and had no relationship with anyone else.
  3. When they returned to Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers asked them, "How did you find things?"
  4. They answered, "Come on, let's attack them! We have seen that the land is very good. Aren't you going to do something? Don't hesitate to go there and take it over.
  5. When you get there, you will find an unsuspecting people and a spacious land that God has put into your hands, a land that lacks nothing whatever."
  1. 단 지파 사람들 육백 명이 무장하고 소라와 에스다올을 떠났다.
  2. 그들은 유다 지방에 있는 키럇여아림에 올라가 진을 쳤다. 이런 일이 있었다고 해서 그 곳을 오늘날도 단의 진지라고 부른다. 그 곳은 키럇여아림 서쪽에 있다.
  3. 그들은 그 곳을 떠나 에브라임 산악 지대로 건너가 미가의 집에 다다랐다.
  4. 그 땅을 돌아보고 온 다섯 사람이 같이 가던 사람들에게 말하였다. "여기 집이 여러 채 있는데 에봇과 데라빔과 부어 만든 신상이 있는 줄 알고들 있지요? 어떻게 할지 알아서들 하시오."
  5. 그들은 미가의 집에 사는 젊은 레위인의 거처 쪽으로 가서 그에게 문안하고는
  1. Then six hundred men from the clan of the Danites, armed for battle, set out from Zorah and Eshtaol.
  2. On their way they set up camp near Kiriath Jearim in Judah. This is why the place west of Kiriath Jearim is called Mahaneh Dan to this day.
  3. From there they went on to the hill country of Ephraim and came to Micah's house.
  4. Then the five men who had spied out the land of Laish said to their brothers, "Do you know that one of these houses has an ephod, other household gods, a carved image and a cast idol? Now you know what to do."
  5. So they turned in there and went to the house of the young Levite at Micah's place and greeted him.
  1. 육백 명 무장대로 하여금 대문을 지키도록 하였다.
  2. 그 땅을 돌아보고 온 다섯 사람이 그 집으로 들어가 부어 만든 신상과 에봇과 데라빔을 가지고 나왔다. 그 동안 그 사제는 육백 명 무장대와 함께 대문간에 서 있었다.
  3. 그들이 미가의 집에 들어가 부어 만든 신상과 에봇과 데라빔을 가지고 나오는데, 사제가 어찌 된 일이냐고 물었다.
  4. 그들은 그에게 가만 있으라고 하며 이렇게 말하였다. "입을 다물고 따라만 오시오. 당신은 우리의 어른이 되고 사제가 되어주시오. 한 집안의 사제가 되는 것이 좋겠소? 아니면 이스라엘의 한 지파, 한 가문의 사제가 되는 것이 좋겠소?"
  5. 사제는 너무 기뻐서 에봇과 데라빔과 신상을 가지고 가는 무리들에게 둘러싸여 길을 떠났다.
  1. The six hundred Danites, armed for battle, stood at the entrance to the gate.
  2. The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the carved image, the ephod, the other household gods and the cast idol while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance to the gate.
  3. When these men went into Micah's house and took the carved image, the ephod, the other household gods and the cast idol, the priest said to them, "What are you doing?"
  4. They answered him, "Be quiet! Don't say a word. Come with us, and be our father and priest. Isn't it better that you serve a tribe and clan in Israel as priest rather than just one man's household?"
  5. Then the priest was glad. He took the ephod, the other household gods and the carved image and went along with the people.
  1. 그들은 전사 아닌 자들을 앞세워 가축을 몰게 하고 온갖 값진 것을 가지고 발길을 돌려 떠났다.
  2. 그들이 미가의 집을 떠나 얼마를 간 다음에야 미가의 이웃 사람들이 고함을 지르며 그들의 뒤를 쫓아왔다.
  3. 그들이 부르는 소리를 듣고 단 사람들은 돌아서서 무슨 일로 그렇게 고함을 지르느냐고 미가에게 물었다.
  4. 그가 대답하였다. "너희는 내가 만들어 섬기던 신을 빼앗고 사제까지도 데려가고 있지 않느냐? 내 것을 모조리 쓸어가면서 뻔뻔스럽게도 무슨 일이냐고 묻다니?"
  5. 단 사람들이 으름장을 놓았다. "네 말을 더 듣고 싶지 않다. 이 사람들이 불끈하여 너희에게 달려들기만 하면 네 일족은 없다."
  1. Putting their little children, their livestock and their possessions in front of them, they turned away and left.
  2. When they had gone some distance from Micah's house, the men who lived near Micah were called together and overtook the Danites.
  3. As they shouted after them, the Danites turned and said to Micah, "What's the matter with you that you called out your men to fight?"
  4. He replied, "You took the gods I made, and my priest, and went away. What else do I have? How can you ask, 'What's the matter with you?' "
  5. The Danites answered, "Don't argue with us, or some hot-tempered men will attack you, and you and your family will lose your lives."
  1. 미가는 상대가 강한 것을 알고 집으로 돌아가고 단 사람들도 가던 길을 갔다.
  2. 이렇게 해서 단 사람들은 미가가 만든 신상과 그 신을 섬기던 사제를 데리고 사람들이 걱정 없이 방심하고 사는 라이스로 갔다. 거기에서 그들은 온 주민들을 칼로 쳐죽이고 성읍에 불을 놓았다.
  3. 그 성읍은 시돈에서 멀리 떨어져 있었고 또 아람인들과도 아무런 관계가 없었기 때문에 와서 도와줄 사람이 없었다. 그 성읍은 벳르홉 가까운 계곡에 있었다. 단 사람들은 그 성읍을 재건하여 자리를 잡고는
  4. 그 성읍 이름을 이스라엘에게서 난 저희의 조상 단의 이름을 따서 단이라고 지었다. 그 성읍의 본래 이름은 라이스였다.
  5. 단 사람들은 가지고 간 신상을 세우고 섬겼다. 게르솜의 아들이요 모세의 손자인 요나단이 단 지파의 사제가 되었고, 그 땅 주민이 사로잡혀 갈 때까지 대대로 그의 후손이 사제 노릇을 하였다.
  1. So the Danites went their way, and Micah, seeing that they were too strong for him, turned around and went back home.
  2. Then they took what Micah had made, and his priest, and went on to Laish, against a peaceful and unsuspecting people. They attacked them with the sword and burned down their city.
  3. There was no one to rescue them because they lived a long way from Sidon and had no relationship with anyone else. The city was in a valley near Beth Rehob. The Danites rebuilt the city and settled there.
  4. They named it Dan after their forefather Dan, who was born to Israel--though the city used to be called Laish.
  5. There the Danites set up for themselves the idols, and Jonathan son of Gershom, the son of Moses, and his sons were priests for the tribe of Dan until the time of the captivity of the land.
  1. 단 사람들은 미가가 만든 신상을 세우고 섬겼는데, 그 신상은 하느님의 집이 실로에 있는 동안 줄곧 거기에 있었다.
  1. They continued to use the idols Micah had made, all the time the house of God was in Shiloh.
