사무엘상 18:1-19:24

 요나단은 다윗과 두터운 우정을 맺었으나 사울은 다윗을 두려워하여 그를 제거하려 하였다. 사울은 딸 미갈을 다윗과 결혼시켜 그를 죽이려고 시도했다. 그러나 다윗은 요나단과 미갈의 도움으로 위험에서 벗어났다. 다윗이 사무엘에게 피하자 사울은 사람을 보내 그를 잡으려 하였으나, 하나님께서 다윗을 보호하셨다.
  
  사울의 질투(18:1-18:30)    
 
  1. 요나단은 다윗이 사울에게 하는 말을 모두 듣고 나서 다윗에게 마음이 끌려 그를 자기 목숨처럼 사랑하게 되었다.
  2. 사울은 그 날로 다윗을 붙잡아 두고 집으로 돌려보내지 않았다.
  3. 요나단은 다윗을 자기 목숨처럼 아껴 그와 의형제를 맺었다.
  4. 요나단은 입고 있던 겉옷을 벗어 다윗에게 주고 칼과 활과 허리띠까지도 다 내주었다.
  5. 그로부터 다윗은 사울을 따라 출전할 때마다 승전하고 돌아왔다. 그래서 사울은 그에게 군사령관직을 맡겼다. 그것을 백성은 물론 사울의 신하들까지도 모두들 흐뭇하게 여겼다.
  1. After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself.
  2. From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father's house.
  3. And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.
  4. Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.
  5. Whatever Saul sent him to do, David did it so successfully that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the people, and Saul's officers as well.
  1. 다윗이 그 불레셋 장수를 죽이고 나서 군대를 이끌고 돌아오자 이스라엘 모든 성읍에서 여인들이 나와 소구를 치고 환성을 올리며 꽹과리에 맞추어 노래하고 춤추며 사울 왕을 맞았다.
  2. 여인들은 덩실거리며 노래를 주고 받았다. "사울은 수천을 치셨고, 다윗은 수만을 치셨다네!"
  3. 사울은 이 말이 비위에 거슬려 몹시 화를 내며 투덜거렸다. "다윗에게는 수만 명을 죽인 공을 돌리고 나에게는 고작 수천 명을 죽인 공밖에 돌리지 않으니 왕의 자리마저 그에게 돌아가겠구나."
  4. 그 날로부터 사울은 다윗을 주목하게 되었다.
  5. 이튿날 하느님에게서 온 악령이 내리덮쳐 사울이 집안에서 발작을 일으키자 다윗이 전처럼 수금을 뜯었다. 이 때 마침 사울은 창을 잡고 있었는데
  1. When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes.
  2. As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."
  3. Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?"
  4. And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.
  5. The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the harp, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand
  1. 사울은 그 창으로 다윗을 벽에 박아버릴 생각으로 창을 던졌다. 그러나 다윗은 두 번이나 몸을 피하였다.
  2. 그래서 사울은 야훼께서 자기를 버리시고 다윗과 함께 하시는 줄 알고 다윗을 두려워한 나머지
  3. 다윗을 궁에서 내보내어 천인부대를 거느리는 지휘관으로 임명하였다. 그리하여 다윗은 그 부대를 거느리고 출전하곤 하였다.
  4. 야훼께서 함께 하셨으므로 그는 나갈 때마다 이기고 돌아왔다.
  5. 사울은 다윗이 번번이 대승을 거두는 것을 보고 더욱 겁을 먹었다.
  1. and he hurled it, saying to himself, "I'll pin David to the wall." But David eluded him twice.
  2. Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had left Saul.
  3. So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns.
  4. In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.
  5. When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him.
  1. 그러나 온 이스라엘과 유다는 다윗이 언제나 싸움터에 앞장서 나가는 것을 보고 그를 좋아하게 되었다.
  2. 사울은 다윗에게 "내 맏딸 메랍을 네 아내로 줄 터이니 나를 위하여 야훼께서 앞장서시는 싸움을 용감하게 싸워다오." 하고 말하였다. 사울은 자기의 손을 쓰지 않고 불레셋 사람들 손을 빌려서 다윗을 죽일 속셈이었다.
  3. 그러나 다윗은 왕에게 "이스라엘에서 소인의 가문과 소인의 일가가 뭐 보잘것이 있습니까? 제가 어떻게 감히 부마가 되겠습니까?" 하며 사양하였다.
  4. 그런데 사울은 딸 메랍을 다윗에게 주기로 하고도, 정작 때가 되자 므홀라 사람 아드리엘에게 시집보냈다.
  5. 한편 사울의 딸 미갈이 다윗을 사랑하고 있었다. 이 일을 전해 듣고 사울은 마침 잘 됐다고 생각하였다.
  1. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.
  2. Saul said to David, "Here is my older daughter Merab. I will give her to you in marriage; only serve me bravely and fight the battles of the LORD." For Saul said to himself, "I will not raise a hand against him. Let the Philistines do that!"
  3. But David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my family or my father's clan in Israel, that I should become the king's son-in-law?"
  4. So when the time came for Merab, Saul's daughter, to be given to David, she was given in marriage to Adriel of Meholah.
  5. Now Saul's daughter Michal was in love with David, and when they told Saul about it, he was pleased.
  1. "그 애를 아내로 주어야겠다. 그 애를 미끼로 삼아 불레셋 놈들의 손을 빌려 놈을 죽여야지." 사울은 이런 속셈으로 다윗에게 "오늘 당장 내 부마가 되어주게." 하고 다시 부탁하였다.
  2. 그리고는 신하들을 시켜 다윗에게 "당신은 왕의 마음에 드셨을 뿐 아니라 왕의 신하들도 다 좋아하니 서슴지 말고 부마가 되시오." 하고 넌지시 이르게 하였다.
  3. 사울의 신하들이 다윗에게 그대로 말하였다. 그러나 다윗은 "당신들은 나처럼 가난하고 천한 몸으로 부마가 되는 것이 그렇게 쉬운 일이라고 생각하시오?" 하면서 사양하였다.
  4. 신하들은 사울에게 다윗이 한 말을 전했다.
  5. 그러자 사울은 다윗에게 가서 "왕이 공주를 맞는 몸값으로 원하시는 것은 별게 아니고 왕의 원수를 갚고 불레셋 사람들의 포경 백 개만 잘라 오면 된다." 하고 이르게 하였다. 사울은 이렇게 하여 그를 불레셋 사람의 손을 빌려 죽일 속셈이었다.
  1. "I will give her to him," he thought, "so that she may be a snare to him and so that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." So Saul said to David, "Now you have a second opportunity to become my son-in-law."
  2. Then Saul ordered his attendants: "Speak to David privately and say, 'Look, the king is pleased with you, and his attendants all like you; now become his son-in-law.' "
  3. They repeated these words to David. But David said, "Do you think it is a small matter to become the king's son-in-law? I'm only a poor man and little known."
  4. When Saul's servants told him what David had said,
  5. Saul replied, "Say to David, 'The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.' " Saul's plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines.
  1. 신하들이 사울의 말을 다윗에게 전하니 다윗은 그것으로 부마가 된다면 좋다고 생각하고 기한도 되기 전에
  2. 부마가 되려고 부하를 이끌고 나가 불레셋 사람을 이백 명이나 죽이고 그 포경을 모두 거두어 왕에게 바쳤다. 이리하여 사울은 딸 미갈을 주어 그를 사위로 삼았다.
  3. 그는 야훼께서 다윗과 함께 하시고 자기의 딸 미갈마저 그를 사랑한다는 것을 똑똑히 보고 나서는
  4. 다윗이 점점 더 두려워져서 끝까지 그를 원수로 여기게 되었다.
  5. 불레셋 추장들이 싸움을 걸어왔지만, 그 때마다 다윗은 사울의 어느 부하들보다도 잘 싸워 그의 명성은 높아가기만 하였다.
  1. When the attendants told David these things, he was pleased to become the king's son-in-law. So before the allotted time elapsed,
  2. David and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented the full number to the king so that he might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage.
  3. When Saul realized that the LORD was with David and that his daughter Michal loved David,
  4. Saul became still more afraid of him, and he remained his enemy the rest of his days.
  5. The Philistine commanders continued to go out to battle, and as often as they did, David met with more success than the rest of Saul's officers, and his name became well known.
 
  사울의 다윗 살해 시도(19:1-19:24)    
 
  1. 사울이 아들 요나단과 온 시종들에게 다윗을 죽이겠다는 이야기를 털어놓았다. 그러나 사울의 아들 요나단은 다윗을 매우 좋아하였으므로
  2. 다윗에게 귀띔해 주었다. "아버지가 자네를 죽이려고 하니 내일 아침은 숨어서 꼼짝 말고 몸조심하게.
  3. 자네가 숨어 있는 들로 아버지를 모시고 나가 곁에서 자네 이야기를 하여 아버지의 마음을 떠보고 나서 자네에게 알려주겠네."
  4. 그리고 요나단은 아버지에게 다윗을 두둔하며 말하였다. "아버님, 아버님의 신하 다윗을 억울하게 하지 마십시오. 다윗이 아버님께 최선을 다해서 잘 해드린 것밖에 무슨 잘못이 있습니까?
  5. 그는 목숨을 걸고 불레셋 장수를 죽였습니다. 그래서 야훼께서 온 이스라엘에게 대승을 안겨주신 것을 보시고 아버님도 기뻐하시지 않으셨습니까? 그런데 어째서 다윗을 죽여 죄없는 피를 억울하게 흘리게 하시렵니까?"
  1. Saul told his son Jonathan and all the attendants to kill David. But Jonathan was very fond of David
  2. and warned him, "My father Saul is looking for a chance to kill you. Be on your guard tomorrow morning; go into hiding and stay there.
  3. I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. I'll speak to him about you and will tell you what I find out."
  4. Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, "Let not the king do wrong to his servant David; he has not wronged you, and what he has done has benefited you greatly.
  5. He took his life in his hands when he killed the Philistine. The LORD won a great victory for all Israel, and you saw it and were glad. Why then would you do wrong to an innocent man like David by killing him for no reason?"
  1. 사울은 요나단의 말을 듣고 "야훼께서 살아 계시는 한 다윗을 죽이지 않겠다." 하고 맹세하였다.
  2. 요나단은 다윗을 불러 이 모든 것을 일러주고 나서 사울에게 데리고 들어가 전처럼 모시게 하였다.
  3. 전쟁이 다시 일어나자 다윗은 전장에 나가서 불레셋과 싸워 그들을 크게 무찔러 쫓아버렸다.
  4. 사울이 궁에서 창을 들고 앉아 있을 때 야훼에게서 온 악령이 그에게 내렸으므로 다윗이 그 앞에서 수금을 탔다.
  5. 그 때, 사울이 창으로 다윗을 벽에 박으려고 했으나 다윗이 왕의 창을 피하는 바람에 창이 벽에 꽂혔다. 다윗은 도망쳐 나왔다.
  1. Saul listened to Jonathan and took this oath: "As surely as the LORD lives, David will not be put to death."
  2. So Jonathan called David and told him the whole conversation. He brought him to Saul, and David was with Saul as before.
  3. Once more war broke out, and David went out and fought the Philistines. He struck them with such force that they fled before him.
  4. But an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand. While David was playing the harp,
  5. Saul tried to pin him to the wall with his spear, but David eluded him as Saul drove the spear into the wall. That night David made good his escape.
  1. 그 날 밤 사울은 군졸들을 다윗의 집으로 보내어, 지키고 있다가 아침에 죽이라고 하였다. 다윗의 아내 미갈이 이를 눈치채고 남편에게 "목숨을 건지려거든 이 밤으로 도망치셔요. 그러지 않았다간 내일은 죽게 될 것입니다." 하고 말하였다.
  2. 그리고 다윗을 창문으로 내려보내어 빠져 나가게 하였다.
  3. 미갈은 집안 수호신을 가져다 침대에 누이고 염소털로 짠 것을 그 머리에 씌운 다음 옷으로 덮어놓았다.
  4. 사울이 보낸 군졸들이 다윗을 잡으러 왔을 때 미갈은 그가 와병 중이라고 하였다.
  5. 사울은 다시 군졸들을 보내면서 "다윗을 침대째 들어 오너라. 내가 죽여버리겠다." 하였다.
  1. Saul sent men to David's house to watch it and to kill him in the morning. But Michal, David's wife, warned him, "If you don't run for your life tonight, tomorrow you'll be killed."
  2. So Michal let David down through a window, and he fled and escaped.
  3. Then Michal took an idol and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats' hair at the head.
  4. When Saul sent the men to capture David, Michal said, "He is ill."
  5. Then Saul sent the men back to see David and told them, "Bring him up to me in his bed so that I may kill him."
  1. 군졸들이 와서 보니 침대에는 머리에 염소털로 짠 것을 씌워놓은 그 집의 수호신이 뉘어져 있었다.
  2. 사울이 미갈에게 "어쩌자고 이런 속임수를 써서 내 원수놈을 빠져 나가게 하였느냐?" 하고 야단치자 미갈이 아버지에게 "빠져 나가게 해주지 않으면 저를 죽이겠다는데 어떻게 합니까?" 하고 꾸며대었다.
  3. 다윗은 이렇게 몸을 피하여 라마에 있는 사무엘을 찾아가 사울이 자기에게 한 일을 고하였다. 그는 사무엘과 함께 나욧으로 가서 거기에 머물러 있었다.
  4. 사울은 다윗이 라마의 나욧에 있다는 말을 전해 듣고
  5. 군졸들을 보내어 그를 잡아오라고 하였다. 그들이 와보니 예언자들 한 무리가 사무엘 앞에서 신이 들려 있었다. 그 순간 사울의 군졸들에게도 하느님의 신이 내려 그들도 신들린 상태에 빠져버렸다.
  1. But when the men entered, there was the idol in the bed, and at the head was some goats' hair.
  2. Saul said to Michal, "Why did you deceive me like this and send my enemy away so that he escaped?" Michal told him, "He said to me, 'Let me get away. Why should I kill you?' "
  3. When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.
  4. Word came to Saul: "David is in Naioth at Ramah";
  5. so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came upon Saul's men and they also prophesied.
  1. 사울이 이 소식을 듣고 또 군졸 한 무리를 보냈으나 그들도 신들린 상태에 빠져버렸다. 그는 세 번째로 다시 군졸들을 보냈으나 그들도 신들린 상태에 빠져버렸다.
  2. 할 수 없이 사울 자신이 라마를 향해 나섰다. 그가 세구라는 곳에 있는 큰 물웅덩이에 이르러 사무엘과 다윗이 어디 있느냐고 묻자 웬 사람이 라마에 있는 나욧에 있다고 대답하였다.
  3. 이 말을 듣고 라마에 있는 나욧으로 가고 있는데 그에게도 하느님의 신이 내려 라마에 있는 나욧까지 줄곧 신들린 상태로 걸어갔다.
  4. 사울도 옷을 벗어 던지고 사무엘 앞에서 신들린 상태에 빠져 하루 밤낮을 알몸으로 쓰러져 있었다. 그래서 "사울도 예언자들 중의 하나더냐!" 하는 말이 나오게 되었다.
  1. Saul was told about it, and he sent more men, and they prophesied too. Saul sent men a third time, and they also prophesied.
  2. Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Secu. And he asked, "Where are Samuel and David?" "Over in Naioth at Ramah," they said.
  3. So Saul went to Naioth at Ramah. But the Spirit of God came even upon him, and he walked along prophesying until he came to Naioth.
  4. He stripped off his robes and also prophesied in Samuel's presence. He lay that way all that day and night. This is why people say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"
