요한복음 11:45-12:19

 나사로의 부활 소식을 들은 유대 지도자들은 긴급 소집된 산헤드린 공회에서 예수님을 죽이려는 음모를 본격적으로 논의했다. 마리아가 나드 향유를 예수님의 발에 붓고 자기 머리털로 씻기자 예수님께서는 이는 자신의 장사를 위한 것이라며 그녀를 칭찬하셨다. 예수님은 나귀를 타고 예루살렘에 입성하여 무리들로부터 찬양을 받으셨다.
  
  예수를 죽이려는 음모(11:45-11:57)    
 
  1. 마리아를 찾아왔다가 예수께서 하신 일을 본 많은 유다인들이 예수를 믿게 되었다.
  2. 그러나 더러는 바리사이파 사람들에게 가서 예수께서 하신 일을 일러바치기도 하였다.
  3. 그래서 대사제들과 바리사이파 사람들은 의회를 소집하고 "그 사람이 많은 기적을 나타내고 있으니 어떻게 하면 좋겠소?
  4. 그대로 내버려두면 누구나 다 그를 믿을 것이고 그렇게 되면 로마인들이 와서 이 거룩한 곳과 우리 백성을 짓밟고 말 것입니다." 하며 의논하였다.
  5. 그 해의 대사제인 가야파가 그 자리에 와 있다가 이렇게 말하였다. "당신들은 그렇게도 아둔합니까?
  1. Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him.
  2. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
  3. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin. "What are we accomplishing?" they asked. "Here is this man performing many miraculous signs.
  4. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation."
  5. Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, "You know nothing at all!
  1. 온 민족이 멸망하는 것보다 한 사람이 백성을 대신해서 죽는 편이 더 낫다는 것도 모릅니까?"
  2. 이 말은 가야파가 자기 생각으로 한 것이 아니라 그 해의 대사제로서 예언을 한 셈이다. 그 예언은 예수께서 유다 민족을 대신해서 죽게 되리라는 것과
  3. 자기 민족뿐만 아니라 흩어져 있는 하느님의 자녀들을 한데 모으기 위해서 죽는다는 뜻이었다.
  4. 그 날부터 그들은 예수를 죽일 음모를 꾸미기 시작하였다.
  5. 그래서 예수께서는 그 이상 더 유다 지방에서 드러나게 나다니지 않으시고 그 곳을 떠나 광야 근처에 있는 지방으로 가시어 제자들과 함께 에브라임이라는 동네에 머물러 계셨다.
  1. You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish."
  2. He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,
  3. and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.
  4. So from that day on they plotted to take his life.
  5. Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the Jews. Instead he withdrew to a region near the desert, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.
  1. 유다인들의 과월절이 다가오자 많은 사람들이 명절 전에 몸을 정결하게 하려고 시골에서 예루살렘으로 올라갔다.
  2. 그들은 예수를 찾아다니다가 성전 뜰 안에 모여서 "어떻게들 생각하십니까? 그가 명절에 참례할 것 같지는 않지요?" 하며 서로 수군거렸다.
  3. 대사제들과 바리사이파 사람들은 예수를 붙잡으려고 그 거처를 아는 자는 곧 신고하라는 명령을 내려두었던 것이다.
  1. When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover.
  2. They kept looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple area they asked one another, "What do you think? Isn't he coming to the Feast at all?"
  3. But the chief priests and Pharisees had given orders that if anyone found out where Jesus was, he should report it so that they might arrest him.
 
  향유를 부은 마리아(12:1-12:19)    
 
  1. 예수께서는 과월절을 엿새 앞두고 베다니아로 가셨는데 그 곳은 예수께서 죽은 자들 가운데서 살리신 라자로가 사는 고장이었다.
  2. 거기에서 예수를 영접하는 만찬회가 베풀어졌는데 라자로는 손님들 사이에 끼여 예수와 함께 식탁에 앉아 있었고 마르타는 시중을 들고 있었다.
  3. 그 때 마리아가 매우 값진 순 나르드 향유 한 근을 가지고 와서 예수의 발에 붓고 자기 머리털로 그 발을 닦아드렸다. 그러자 온 집안에 향유 냄새가 가득 찼다.
  4. 예수의 제자로서 장차 예수를 배반할 가리옷 사람 유다가
  5. "이 향유를 팔았더라면 삼백 데나리온은 받았을 것이고 그 돈을 가난한 사람들에게 나누어줄 수 있었을 터인데 이게 무슨 짓인가?" 하고 투덜거렸다.
  1. Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
  2. Here a dinner was given in Jesus' honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.
  3. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
  4. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected,
  5. "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages."
  1. 유다는 가난한 사람들을 생각해서가 아니라 그가 도둑이어서 이런 말을 한 것이었다. 그는 돈주머니를 맡아가지고 거기 들어 있는 것을 늘 꺼내 쓰곤 하였다.
  2. 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "이것은 내 장례일을 위하여 하는 일이니 이 여자 일에 참견하지 마라.
  3. 가난한 사람들은 언제나 너희와 함께 있겠지만 나는 언제나 함께 있지는 않을 것이다."
  4. 예수가 베다니아에 계시다는 말을 듣고 많은 유다인들이 떼를 지어 몰려들었다. 그들은 예수뿐만 아니라 예수께서 죽은 자들 가운데서 살리신 라자로도 보고 싶었던 것이다.
  5. 이것을 본 대사제들은 라자로도 죽이기로 작정하였다.
  1. He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.
  2. "Leave her alone," Jesus replied. " It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.
  3. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
  4. Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
  5. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,
  1. 라자로 때문에 수많은 유다인들이 자기들을 버리고 예수를 믿게 되었기 때문이다.
  2. 명절을 지내러 와 있던 큰 군중은 그 이튿날 예수께서 예루살렘에 들어오신다는 말을 듣고
  3. 종려나무 가지를 들고 예수를 맞으러 나가, "호산나! 주의 이름으로 오시는 이여, 이스라엘의 왕 찬미받으소서!" 하고 외쳤다.
  4. 예수께서는 새끼 나귀를 보시고 거기에 올라앉으셨다. 이것은 성서에,
  5. "시온의 딸아, 두려워하지 마라. 네 임금이 너에게로 오신다. 새끼 나귀를 타고 오신다." 하신 말씀 그대로였다.
  1. for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him.
  2. The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.
  3. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!"
  4. Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written,
  5. "Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt."
  1. 예수의 제자들도 처음에는 이것을 깨닫지 못하였으나 예수께서 영광을 받으신 다음에야 이것이 모두 예수를 두고 기록된 것이며 또 이런 일들이 그대로 예수께 일어났다는 것을 깨닫게 되었다.
  2. 예수께서 라자로를 무덤에서 불러내어 죽은 자들 가운데서 살리실 때 그 자리에 같이 있던 사람들이 모두 그 일을 증언하였다.
  3. 군중이 예수를 맞으러 나간 것도 예수께서 이렇게 기적을 보여주셨다는 말을 들었기 때문이다.
  4. 바리사이파 사람들은 "자, 이제는 다 틀렸습니다. 모든 사람이 다 그를 따라가고 있지 않습니까?" 하며 서로 걱정하였다.
  1. At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.
  2. Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.
  3. Many people, because they had heard that he had given this miraculous sign, went out to meet him.
  4. So the Pharisees said to one another, "See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!"
 
  나드( 12:3)  나드에서 추출한 값비싼 향유  
  호산나( 12:13)  ‘우리를 구원하소서’라는 의미로, 메시아를 대망하는 표현
