사무엘하 20:1-21:22

 다윗의 환궁 문제를 둘러싼 유다와 이스라엘간의 분쟁으로 세바의 반란이 일어났고, 이를 이용해 요압은 자신의 정적인 아마사를 살해하였다. 사울의 기브온 양민 학살 사건에 대한 심판으로 3년 간 기근이 있자, 다윗은 기브온 사람들의 원한을 갚아 속죄하도록 하였다. 블레셋과의 전쟁에서 다윗의 용사들은 승리를 거두었다.
  
  세바의 반란(20:1-20:26)    
 
  1. 이런 판국에 한 건달이 나타났다. 베냐민 사람 비그리의 아들로서 이름을 세바라고 했다. 그가 나팔을 불며 외쳐댔다. "다윗에게 붙어봐야 돌아올 몫은 없다. 이새의 아들에게 붙어봐야 물려받을 유산은 없다. 그러니 이스라엘 사람들아, 모두들 집으로 돌아가자!"
  2. 그래서 온 이스라엘 사람들이 다윗을 떠나 비그리의 아들 세바를 따랐다. 그러나 유다 사람들은 자기네 왕을 모시고 요르단 강을 떠나 예루살렘에 이르렀다.
  3. 예루살렘 왕궁으로 돌아온 다윗은 궁을 돌보라고 남겨두었던 열 후궁을 한데 몰아 가두고, 필요한 것을 주기는 하면서도 다시 찾지는 않았다. 그리하여 그들은 죽을 때까지 갇힌 몸이 되어 생과부로 지냈다.
  4. 왕이 아마사에게 말하였다. "사흘 안에 유다 사람들을 소집해서 내 앞에 대령하여라."
  5. 아마사는 유다 사람들을 소집하러 떠났으나 기한이 넘도록 돌아오지 않았다.
  1. Now a troublemaker named Sheba son of Bicri, a Benjamite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and shouted, "We have no share in David, no part in Jesse's son! Every man to his tent, O Israel!"
  2. So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
  3. When David returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to take care of the palace and put them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but did not lie with them. They were kept in confinement till the day of their death, living as widows.
  4. Then the king said to Amasa, "Summon the men of Judah to come to me within three days, and be here yourself."
  5. But when Amasa went to summon Judah, he took longer than the time the king had set for him.
  1. 그러자 다윗은 아비새에게 일렀다. "이제 비그리의 아들 세바는 압살롬보다도 더 두통거리가 될 것 같소. 그러니 장군은 내 호위병들을 데리고 그를 추격하시오. 그가 견고한 성에 들면 어떻게 잡겠소?"
  2. 요압의 부하와 그렛 외인부대와 벨렛 외인부대가 아비새의 뒤를 따라 나섰다. 비그리의 아들 세바를 잡으러 예루살렘을 나선 것이었다.
  3. 그들은 기브온에 있는 큰 바위에 다다랐을 때 아마사를 만나게 되었다. 마침 요압은 군복을 입고 허리에 칼을 차고 있었다. 요압은 성큼 다가서서
  4. "장군, 안녕하시오?" 하며 오른손으로 아마사의 턱수염을 잡고 입을 맞추었다.
  5. 그러면서 요압은 칼집에서 칼을 빼었는데, 아마사는 그것을 미처 보지 못했다. 요압이 그 칼로 아마사의 몸을 찌르자 내장이 땅바닥에 쏟아졌다. 이렇게 요압은 아마사를 단칼에 찔러 죽였다. 그리고 나서 요압과 아비새 형제는 비그리의 아들 세바를 추격하였다.
  1. David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba son of Bicri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your master's men and pursue him, or he will find fortified cities and escape from us."
  2. So Joab's men and the Kerethites and Pelethites and all the mighty warriors went out under the command of Abishai. They marched out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  3. While they were at the great rock in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was wearing his military tunic, and strapped over it at his waist was a belt with a dagger in its sheath. As he stepped forward, it dropped out of its sheath.
  4. Joab said to Amasa, "How are you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
  5. Amasa was not on his guard against the dagger in Joab's hand, and Joab plunged it into his belly, and his intestines spilled out on the ground. Without being stabbed again, Amasa died. Then Joab and his brother Abishai pursued Sheba son of Bicri.
  1. 요압의 부하 하나가 아마사의 시체 옆에 서서 외쳤다. "누구든지 요압 장군을 지지하고, 다윗 왕 편이 되고 싶은 자는 요압 장군을 따르라!"
  2. 그는 피투성이가 되어 한길에 쓰러져 있는 아마사 앞에 와서 군인들이 멈칫거리자, 아마사를 들판에다 옮겨 옷을 덮어놓았다.
  3. 아마사를 한길에서 치워버린 뒤, 군인들은 모두 요압의 뒤를 따라 비그리의 아들 세바를 추격해 갔다.
  4. 세바가 이스라엘 온 지파들이 사는 고장을 거쳐 아벨 벳마아가에 이르자 비그리 사람들이 모두 한데 뭉쳐 그를 따랐다.
  5. 전군은 요압의 지휘 아래 아벨 벳마아가에 이르러 포위한 다음 성 밖에 둔덕을 쌓아올리고 성을 함락시키려고 허물기 시작했다.
  1. One of Joab's men stood beside Amasa and said, "Whoever favors Joab, and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab!"
  2. Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and the man saw that all the troops came to a halt there. When he realized that everyone who came up to Amasa stopped, he dragged him from the road into a field and threw a garment over him.
  3. After Amasa had been removed from the road, all the men went on with Joab to pursue Sheba son of Bicri.
  4. Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to Abel Beth Maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him.
  5. All the troops with Joab came and besieged Sheba in Abel Beth Maacah. They built a siege ramp up to the city, and it stood against the outer fortifications. While they were battering the wall to bring it down,
  1. 마침 성 안에 한 여걸이 있었다. 그가 나서서 이렇게 소리쳤다. "여보세요, 여보세요. 내가 요압 장군에게 할 말이 있는데 좀 나서라고 해주세요."
  2. 요압이 나서자, 그 여인이 물었다. "요압 장군이세요?" "그렇소." "그러면 소녀가 하는 말을 좀 들어보세요." "어서 말해 보오."
  3. 여인이 말했다. "옛적부터 하느님께 물을 일이 있으면 아벨에 가보라는 말이 있지 않습니까?
  4. 우리는 화평을 사랑하고 이스라엘에 충성하는 사람들입니다. 그런데 장군께서는 이스라엘의 어미 같은 이 성을 무너뜨리시려 하니 야훼의 유산 하나를 집어삼킬 작정이십니까?"
  5. 요압이 대답하였다. "천만에, 결코 이 성을 집어삼키거나 멸망시키려는 것이 아니오.
  1. a wise woman called from the city, "Listen! Listen! Tell Joab to come here so I can speak to him."
  2. He went toward her, and she asked, "Are you Joab?" "I am," he answered. She said, "Listen to what your servant has to say." "I'm listening," he said.
  3. She continued, "Long ago they used to say, 'Get your answer at Abel,' and that settled it.
  4. We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the LORD's inheritance?"
  5. "Far be it from me!" Joab replied, "Far be it from me to swallow up or destroy!
  1. 절대로 그렇지 않소. 에브라임 산악 지대에서 온 비그리의 아들 세바라는 자가 다윗 왕께 반기를 들었소. 그자만 내주면 나는 이 성에서 물러갈 것이오." "그러면 그 사람의 목을 잘라 성 밖으로 던져드리지요." 이렇게 말하고,
  2. 그 여인은 돌아가서 성 사람들을 잘 설득시켰다. 사람들은 비그리의 아들 세바의 목을 베어 요압에게 던져주었다. 그러자 요압은 나팔을 불어 포위를 풀고 군인들을 해산시켜 집으로 돌려보내고 자기는 예루살렘에 있는 왕에게로 돌아갔다.
  3. 이스라엘 전군의 사령관은 요압이었고, 그렛 외인부대와 벨렛 외인부대 사령관은 여호야다와 아들 브나야였다.
  4. 부역 책임자는 아도람, 공보대신은 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧,
  5. 비서는 스와였다. 사제로서는 사독과 에비아달이 있었다.
  1. That is not the case. A man named Sheba son of Bicri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Hand over this one man, and I'll withdraw from the city." The woman said to Joab, "His head will be thrown to you from the wall."
  2. Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bicri and threw it to Joab. So he sounded the trumpet, and his men dispersed from the city, each returning to his home. And Joab went back to the king in Jerusalem.
  3. Joab was over Israel's entire army; Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites;
  4. Adoniram was in charge of forced labor; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
  5. Sheva was secretary; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
  1. 야이르 사람 이라도 다윗의 사제였다.
  1. and Ira the Jairite was David's priest.
 
  기브온 사람들의 원한(21:1-21:22)    
 
  1. 다윗 시대에 삼 년이나 내리 흉년이 든 적이 있었다. 다윗이 야훼께 곡절을 물으니 야훼께서는 사울과 그의 가문이 기브온 사람들을 죽여 살인죄를 지은 탓이라고 하셨다.
  2. 그래서 왕은 기브온 사람들을 불렀다. 기브온 사람들은 본래는 이스라엘 백성이 아니라 아모리족의 잔류민인데 이스라엘 백성이 그들을 살려두기로 맹세한 일이 있었다. 그런데 사울은 이스라엘과 유다 백성을 사랑한 나머지 그들을 전멸시키려고 했던 것이다.
  3. 다윗이 기브온 사람들에게 물었다. "그대들의 억울함을 어떻게든지 풀어줄 터이니, 그 대신 그대들은 야훼께서 당신의 것으로 삼으신 이 백성에게 복을 빌어주어야 하겠소."
  4. 기브온 사람들이 대답하였다. "사울 가문과 우리 사이의 문제는 금이나 은으로 해결될 문제가 아닙니다. 그렇다고 해서 우리가 이스라엘 사람 하나라도 죽이게 넘겨달라고 할 수도 없는 일입니다." "그래도 내가 그대들에게 무엇인가 해주어야 하겠으니 말해 보시오." 다윗이 이렇게 말하자,
  5. 그들은 왕에게 이렇게 대답하였다. "우리를 멸종시켜서 이스라엘 영토 안에 발도 못 붙이게 하려던 사람이 있었습니다.
  1. During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, "It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death."
  2. The king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not a part of Israel but were survivors of the Amorites; the Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for Israel and Judah had tried to annihilate them.)
  3. David asked the Gibeonites, "What shall I do for you? How shall I make amends so that you will bless the LORD's inheritance?"
  4. The Gibeonites answered him, "We have no right to demand silver or gold from Saul or his family, nor do we have the right to put anyone in Israel to death." "What do you want me to do for you?" David asked.
  5. They answered the king, "As for the man who destroyed us and plotted against us so that we have been decimated and have no place anywhere in Israel,
  1. 그의 후손 중 일곱 사람만 넘겨주십시오. 그러면 우리는 기브온에 있는 야훼의 산, 야훼 앞에서 그들을 나무에 매달겠습니다." "그러지요."

  3. 왕은 사울이 아야의 딸 리스바와의 사이에서 낳은 두 아들, 아르모니와 므비보셋, 사울의 딸 메랍이 므홀라 사람 바르질래의 아들 아드리엘에게 낳아준 아들 다섯을 잡아다
  4. 기브온 사람들 손에 넘겼다. 기브온 사람들은 산 위에 올라 야훼 앞에서 그들 일곱을 한꺼번에 나무에 매달아 죽였다. 그들이 처형된 것은 막 보리를 거두기 시작한 추수철이었다.
  5. 아야의 딸 리스바는 상복을 가져다가 바위 위에 펴놓고 그 위에 앉아 추수가 시작될 때부터 하늘에서 빗방울이 떨어질 때까지 주검을 지켜 낮에는 공중의 새가 내려 앉지 못하게 하고 밤에는 들짐승이 달려들지 못하게 하였다.
  1. let seven of his male descendants be given to us to be killed and exposed before the LORD at Gibeah of Saul--the Lord 's chosen one." So the king said, "I will give them to you."
  2. The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the LORD between David and Jonathan son of Saul.
  3. But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah's daughter Rizpah, whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul's daughter Merab, whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
  4. He handed them over to the Gibeonites, who killed and exposed them on a hill before the LORD. All seven of them fell together; they were put to death during the first days of the harvest, just as the barley harvest was beginning.
  5. Rizpah daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it out for herself on a rock. From the beginning of the harvest till the rain poured down from the heavens on the bodies, she did not let the birds of the air touch them by day or the wild animals by night.
  1. 다윗은 사울의 후궁 아야의 딸 리스바 이야기를 전해 듣고
  2. 사울의 뼈와 그 아들 요나단의 뼈를 야베스 길르앗 사람들에게서 찾아왔다. 불레셋 사람들이 사울을 길보아에서 죽여 벳산 광장에 매달아 둔 것을 그들이 몰래 거두어두었던 것이다.
  3. 다윗은 거기에서 사울의 뼈와 그 아들 요나단의 뼈를 가져오고 사람들이 나무에 매달았던 자들의 뼈도 모았다.
  4. 그들은 사울의 뼈와 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈와 함께 베냐민 지방 셀라에 있는 사울의 아버지 키스의 무덤에 합장했다. 모두 어명을 따라 한 일이었다. 그런 다음에야 하느님께서는 기도를 들어주시고 나라를 돌보시게 되었다.
  5. 불레셋 군이 다시 이스라엘에 싸움을 걸어왔다. 다윗이 부하들을 거느리고 내려가 불레셋 사람과 싸우다가 지쳐 있는데,
  1. When David was told what Aiah's daughter Rizpah, Saul's concubine, had done,
  2. he went and took the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from the citizens of Jabesh Gilead. (They had taken them secretly from the public square at Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hung them after they struck Saul down on Gilboa.)
  3. David brought the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan from there, and the bones of those who had been killed and exposed were gathered up.
  4. They buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the tomb of Saul's father Kish, at Zela in Benjamin, and did everything the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer in behalf of the land.
  5. Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.
  1. 르바임 후손 브놉이라는 자가 삼백 세겔이나 나가는 청동 창을 들고 허리에는 새 칼을 차고 다윗을 잡아 죽이려고 덤벼들었다.
  2. 그러나 스루야의 아들 아비새가 그 불레셋 사람을 쳐죽이고 다윗을 살려내었다. 이렇게 되자 다윗의 부하들은 이스라엘의 등불이 꺼져서는 안 될 터이니, 다시 왕이 자기들과 같이 출전해서는 안 되겠다고 하였다.
  3. 그 뒤 이스라엘은 다시 곱에서 불레셋 군과 싸움이 붙었는데, 후사 사람 십개가 르바임 사람 삽을 쳐죽인 것이 바로 이 때였다.
  4. 곱에서 불레셋 군과 또 한 차례 싸움이 붙었을 때 베들레헴 사람 야이르의 아들 엘하난이 갓 사람 골리앗을 죽였는데 골리앗의 창대는 베틀 용두머리만큼 굵었다.
  5. 갓에서 또 싸움이 붙었다. 그 때 손가락 발가락이 여섯 개씩 모두 스물네 개가 되는 거인이 나타났는데 그도 르바임 사람이었다.
  1. And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels and who was armed with a new sword , said he would kill David.
  2. But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David's rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David's men swore to him, saying, "Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished."
  3. In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.
  4. In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod.
  5. In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot--twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
  1. 그는 이스라엘에게 욕을 퍼붓다가 마침내 다윗의 조카 요나단에게 맞아 죽었다. 요나단의 아비는 시므아였다.
  2. 이 넷은 모두 갓에 살던 르바임 사람들인데 다윗과 다윗의 부하들 손에 죽었다.
  1. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
  2. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.
