- 다윗의 부하 용사들 이름은 다음과 같다. 하그모니 사람 이스보셋, 이 사람은 삼용사의 우두머리였는데 창을 휘둘러 단번에 팔백 명이나 무찌른 일이 있었다.
- 다음이 아호 사람으로 도도의 아들 엘르아잘이었다. 그도 삼용사 가운데 하나였다. 불레셋 군이 싸우려고 바스담밈에 집결했을 때, 그는 이스라엘 군이 퇴각한 다음에도 다윗과 함께 있다가
- 끝까지 버티고 서서 불레셋 군을 쳤는데, 손이 굳어져서 칼 잡은 손이 풀리지 않을 정도였다. 그 날 야훼께서 큰 승리를 안겨주셨다. 그제야 이스라엘 군이 다시 엘르아잘에게로 돌아왔지만 그들에게는 죽은 사람들을 터는 일밖에 할 일이 없었다.
- 다음이 하랄 사람 아게의 아들 삼마였다. 한번은 불레셋 군이 레히에 집결한 것을 보고 이스라엘 군이 도망친 일이 있었다. 거기에는 무르익은 팥밭이 있었다.
- 그는 그 밭 한복판에 버티고 서서 곡식을 지키며 불레셋 군을 쳤다. 이리하여 야훼께서 큰 승리를 안겨주셨다.

- These are the names of David's mighty men: Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.
- Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the men of Israel retreated,
- but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead.
- Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel's troops fled from them.
- But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory.

- 삼십인부대 가운데 이 세 용사가 추수가 시작될 무렵에 아둘람 동굴에 있는 다윗을 찾아갔는데, 마침 불레셋 군이 르바임 골짜기에 진을 치고 있었다.
- 그 때 다윗은 산채에 있었고 불레셋 수비대는 베들레헴에 있었다.
- 하루는 다윗이 베들레헴 성문 곁에 있는 우물 물이 생각나서 그 물을 길어다 줄 사람이 없겠느냐고 하자,
- 이 세 용사가 불레셋 진을 뚫고 들어가 베들레헴 성문 곁에 있는 우물에서 물을 길어다 다윗에게 바쳤다. 그러나 다윗은 그 물을 마시지 않고 야훼께 부어드리며,
- "이 물을 마셨다가는 야훼께 벌을 받을 것이다. 목숨을 걸고 갔다 온 이 사람들의 피나 다름없는 물을 내가 어찌 마시랴!" 하고는 끝내 마시지 않았다. 이런 것들이 세 용사가 한 일들이었다.

- During harvest time, three of the thirty chief men came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.
- At that time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem.
- David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!"
- So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the LORD.
- "Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this!" he said. "Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?" And David would not drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

- 스루야의 아들 요압의 아우 아비새는 삼십인부대의 수령이었다. 그는 창을 휘둘러 단번에 삼백 명이나 무찔러서 삼십인부대 안에서도 용명을 떨쳤다.

- 그는 또 이집트의 한 거인을 죽인 일도 있다. 그 이집트인은 창을 들고 있었는데, 브나야는 막대기를 들고 그에게 내려가 그 손에서 창을 빼앗아서 찔러 죽였다.
- 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 이런 일들을 해서 삼십인부대에 끼일 만큼 유명해졌다.

- Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He raised his spear against three hundred men, whom he killed, and so he became as famous as the Three.
- Was he not held in greater honor than the Three? He became their commander, even though he was not included among them.
- Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, who performed great exploits. He struck down two of Moab's best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.
- And he struck down a huge Egyptian. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear.
- Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada; he too was as famous as the three mighty men.
