열왕기상 16:1-17:24

 죄악을 답습하던 바아사는 하나님의 심판을 받았다. 이어 엘라로부터 아합에 이르는 북이스라엘의 왕들도 하나님 앞에 악을 행하여 하나님의 징계를 받았다. 선지자 엘리야는 바알을 숭배하고 악정을 행하던 아합에게 하나님의 재앙으로 가뭄이 있을 것을 선포했다. 아합의 위협을 피해 사르밧으로 피신한 엘리야는 자신을 공궤하던 한 과부의 아들을 살리는 이적을 행하였다.
  
  엘라, 시므리, 오므리, 아합의 통치(16:1-16:34)    
 
  1. 바아사 왕을 심판하시는 야훼의 말씀이 하나니의 아들 예후에게 내렸다.
  2. "나는 잿더미에서 뒹굴던 너를 뽑아 높이 세우고 내 백성 이스라엘을 다스리는 영도자로 삼았다. 그런데 너는 여로보암과 같은 길을 걸어 같은 죄를 짓고 내 백성을 죄의 길로 이끌어 나의 분노를 사는구나.
  3. 보아라, 내가 바아사와 그의 가문을 모조리 쓸어버리리니, 네 가문은 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 가문과 같은 운명에 떨어지리라.
  4. 바아사 가문의 사람이 성 안에서 죽으면 그 시체를 개가 뜯어먹겠고 들에서 죽으면 새가 쪼아먹으리라."
  5. 바아사의 나머지 행적, 치적 및 공적은 이스라엘 왕조실록에 모두 기록되어 있다.
  1. Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha:
  2. "I lifted you up from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you walked in the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to provoke me to anger by their sins.
  3. So I am about to consume Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat.
  4. Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and the birds of the air will feed on those who die in the country."
  5. As for the other events of Baasha's reign, what he did and his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  1. 바아사는 열조와 함께 잠들어 디르사에 묻혔다. 그의 아들 엘라가 왕위를 이었다.
  2. 야훼께서 하나니의 아들 예언자 예후를 시켜 바아사와 그의 가문에 심판을 내리신 것은 그가 여로보암의 가문처럼 되려고 야훼께서 보시기에 온갖 악한 일을 저질러 야훼의 분노를 돋우었기 때문이었다. 그뿐만 아니라 여로보암 가문을 몰살시켰기 때문이었다.
  3. 유다 왕 아사 제이십육년에 바아사의 아들 엘라가 디르사에서 이스라엘의 왕위에 올라 이 년간 다스렸다.
  4. 왕의 신하 가운데 병거대의 절반을 지휘하는 지므리라는 장군이 있었는데 그가 왕에게 반기를 들었다. 마침 왕이 디르사에 있는 궁내대신 아르사의 집에서 술에 취하여 있을 때,
  5. 지므리가 들어와 왕을 죽이고 스스로 왕위에 올랐다. 때는 유다 왕 아사 제이십칠년이었다.
  1. Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son succeeded him as king.
  2. Moreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger by the things he did, and becoming like the house of Jeroboam--and also because he destroyed it.
  3. In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah two years.
  4. Zimri, one of his officials, who had command of half his chariots, plotted against him. Elah was in Tirzah at the time, getting drunk in the home of Arza, the man in charge of the palace at Tirzah.
  5. Zimri came in, struck him down and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah. Then he succeeded him as king.
  1. 스스로 왕위에 오르자마자 그는 바아사 가문을 몰살시켰다. 바아사의 일가친척이나 친구 가운데 남자는 단 하나도 살아 남지 못하였다.
  2. 이렇게 지므리는 바아사의 집안을 몰살시켰는데, 이는 야훼께서 예언자 예후를 시켜 바아사를 두고 하신 말씀 그대로였다.
  3. 이 일은 바아사와 그의 아들 엘라가 함께 죄를 짓고 나아가서 이스라엘을 죄의 길로 인도하였을 뿐 아니라 우상을 만들어 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼의 분노를 샀기 때문에 일어난 일이었다.

  5. 유다 왕 아사 제이십칠년에 지므리는 디르사에서 이스라엘의 왕위에 올랐는데 그의 통치는 칠 일 만에 끝났다. 그 무렵 이스라엘 군대는 불레셋 도읍인 깁돈을 치려고 포진 중이었다.
  1. As soon as he began to reign and was seated on the throne, he killed off Baasha's whole family. He did not spare a single male, whether relative or friend.
  2. So Zimri destroyed the whole family of Baasha, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken against Baasha through the prophet Jehu-
  3. because of all the sins Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols.
  4. As for the other events of Elah's reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  5. In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned in Tirzah seven days. The army was encamped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town.
  1. 전장에서 싸우던 이스라엘 군은 지므리가 반란을 일으켜 왕을 죽였다는 소식을 듣고 바로 그 날로 이스라엘 군 총사령관인 오므리를 이스라엘의 왕으로 받들어 세웠다.
  2. 오므리는 전 병력을 이끌고 깁돈을 떠나 디르사를 포위하였다.
  3. 지므리는 수도가 함락되게 된 것을 보고 궁전에 들어가서 불을 지르고 그 자신도 불에 타 죽었다.
  4. 그가 이러한 최후를 마친 것은 그가 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하고 여로보암이 걸었던 길을 따라 같은 죄를 지었을 뿐 아니라 나아가서 이스라엘 백성을 죄에 빠뜨렸기 때문이었다.
  5. 지므리의 나머지 행적과 음모를 꾸민 일은 이스라엘 왕조실록에 모두 기록되어 있다.
  1. When the Israelites in the camp heard that Zimri had plotted against the king and murdered him, they proclaimed Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day there in the camp.
  2. Then Omri and all the Israelites with him withdrew from Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.
  3. When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the citadel of the royal palace and set the palace on fire around him. So he died,
  4. because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD and walking in the ways of Jeroboam and in the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.
  5. As for the other events of Zimri's reign, and the rebellion he carried out, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  1. 그러자 이스라엘 백성들이 두 파로 분열되었다. 하나는 기낫의 아들 티브니를 왕으로 받들어 그를 따랐고, 다른 하나는 오므리를 따랐다.
  2. 그러나 오므리 일파가 기낫의 아들 티브니 일파보다 우세하였다. 그리하여 티브니는 살해되고 오므리가 왕이 되었다.
  3. 유다 왕 아사 제삼십일년에 오므리가 이스라엘의 왕위에 올라 십이 년간 다스렸는데 육 년은 디르사에서 다스렸다.
  4. 그는 사마리아 산을 세멜에게서 은 두 달란트로 샀다. 왕은 그 곳에 요새를 건설하고 본래 소유자인 세멜의 이름을 따서 성의 이름을 사마리아라고 불렀다.
  5. 오므리는 어떤 선왕들보다 훨씬 더 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하였다.
  1. Then the people of Israel were split into two factions; half supported Tibni son of Ginath for king, and the other half supported Omri.
  2. But Omri's followers proved stronger than those of Tibni son of Ginath. So Tibni died and Omri became king.
  3. In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned twelve years, six of them in Tirzah.
  4. He bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver and built a city on the hill, calling it Samaria, after Shemer, the name of the former owner of the hill.
  5. But Omri did evil in the eyes of the LORD and sinned more than all those before him.
  1. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 걸었던 길을 그대로 밟아 같은 죄를 지었고, 그리하여 이스라엘 백성까지 죄에 빠뜨려 우상을 섬기게 하였으므로 야훼를 크게 노하시게 하였다.
  2. 오므리 왕의 나머지 행적과 치적은 이스라엘 왕조실록에 모두 기록되어 있다.
  3. 오므리는 열조와 함께 잠들어 사마리아에 묻혔다. 그의 아들 아합이 왕위를 계승하였다.
  4. 유다 왕 아사 제삼십팔년에 오므리의 아들 아합이 이스라엘의 왕위에 올라 사마리아에서 이십이 년간 다스렸다.
  5. 그런데 오므리의 아들 아합은 이스라엘의 어느 선왕들보다도 더 야훼의 눈에 거슬리는 일을 하였다.
  1. He walked in all the ways of Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit, so that they provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger by their worthless idols.
  2. As for the other events of Omri's reign, what he did and the things he achieved, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  3. Omri rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Ahab his son succeeded him as king.
  4. In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria over Israel twenty-two years.
  5. Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the LORD than any of those before him.
  1. 그는 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 걸었던 죄의 길을 따라가는 정도가 아니었다. 그는 시돈 왕 에드바알의 딸 이세벨과 결혼하였을 뿐만 아니라 바알에게 가서 그를 숭배하기까지 하였다.
  2. 그는 사마리아에 바알 산당을 짓고 그 안에 바알 제단을 세웠다.
  3. 또 아합은 아세라 목상도 만들었다. 그는 선대의 어느 이스라엘 왕들보다도 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼의 속을 더욱 썩여드렸다.

  1. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him.
  2. He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria.
  3. Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him.
  4. In Ahab's time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the LORD spoken by Joshua son of Nun.
 
  엘리야의 사역(17:1-17:24)    
 
  1. 길르앗의 티스베에 살고 있던 티스베 사람 엘리야가 아합 왕에게 말하였다. "내가 섬기는 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세합니다. 내가 다시 입을 열기 전에는 앞으로 몇 해 동안 비는 물론 이슬도 한 방울 이 땅에 내리지 않을 것이오."
  2. 야훼의 말씀이 엘리야에게 내렸다.
  3. "이 곳을 떠나 동쪽으로 가서 요르단 강 동편에 있는 그릿 개울에서 숨어 지내며
  4. 개울물을 마셔라. 음식은 까마귀들을 시켜 날라다 주도록 하리라."
  5. 엘리야는 야훼의 말씀을 따라 요르단 강 동편에 있는 그릿 개울로 가서 살았다.
  1. Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."
  2. Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah:
  3. "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan.
  4. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."
  5. So he did what the LORD had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.
  1. 까마귀들이 아침 저녁으로 떡과 고기를 날라다 주었다. 그는 계곡의 물을 마셨다.
  2. 그렇게 얼마를 지내는데 개울의 물마저 말라버렸다. 온 땅에 비가 전혀 내리지 않았기 때문이었다.
  3. 야훼의 말씀이 엘리야에게 내렸다.
  4. "여기를 떠나 시돈 지방의 사렙다로 가서 그 곳에서 살도록 하여라. 거기에 한 과부가 살고 있는데 내가 그 과부로 하여금 너에게 음식을 주도록 해놓았다."
  5. 그래서 엘리야는 그 곳을 떠나 사렙다로 갔다. 마을에 들어서 보니 한 여인이 땔감을 줍고 있었는데 과부였다. 엘리야는 그 여인에게 말을 건넸다. "목이 마른데 물 한 그릇 떠주실 수 없겠소?"
  1. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
  2. Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.
  3. Then the word of the LORD came to him:
  4. "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food."
  5. So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?"
  1. 여인이 물을 뜨러 가는데 엘리야가 다시 불러서 말했다. "기왕이면 떡도 한 조각만 가져다 주시오."
  2. 여인이 대답하였다. "군 떡은 없습니다. 있다면 천벌을 받아도 좋습니다. 저에게 있는 것이라고는 뒤주에 밀가루 한 줌과 병에 기름 몇 방울이 있을 뿐입니다. 저는 지금 땔감을 조금 주워다가 저희 모자가 죽기 전에 마지막으로 있는 것이나 모두 먹을 작정이었습니다."
  3. 엘리야가 과부에게 말하였다. "그렇게 걱정하지 마시오. 집에 들어가서 방금 말한 대로 음식을 준비하시오. 그러나 음식을 만들어 나에게 먼저 한 조각 가져오고 그 후에 아들과 함께 들도록 하시오.
  4. 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '내가 이 땅에 비를 다시 내릴 때까지 뒤주에 밀가루가 떨어지지 않을 것이고 병에 기름이 마르지 아니하리라.'"
  5. 이 말을 듣자 과부는 곧 집 안에 들어가 엘리야가 말한 대로 하였다. 그리하여 엘리야와 과부 모자에게는 먹을 양식이 떨어지지 않았다.
  1. As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread."
  2. "As surely as the LORD your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread--only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it--and die."
  3. Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.
  4. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.' "
  5. She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.
  1. 엘리야가 전한 야훼의 말씀 그대로 뒤주에는 밀가루가 떨어지지 않았고 병의 기름도 동이 나지 않았다.
  2. 이 일이 있은 후에 과부의 아들이 병들어 눕게 되었는데 병이 매우 심하여져서 마침내 숨을 거두고 말았다.
  3. 여인이 엘리야를 추궁하였다. "오, 하느님의 사람이여! 어른께서는 나와 무슨 상관이 있다고 이렇게 오시어 내 죄를 일깨워주시고 아들을 죽게 하십니까?"
  4. 그가 말하였다. "부인, 아이를 좀 봅시다." 그는 과부의 품에서 아이를 받아 안고 자기가 거처하고 있는 다락방으로 올라가서 자기 잠자리에 뉘었다.
  5. 그리고 그는 야훼를 소리쳐 불렀다. "오, 나의 하느님 야훼여, 당신께서는 기어이 제가 머무르고 있는 이 과부의 집에 슬픔을 내리시어 아이를 죽이시렵니까?"
  1. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah.
  2. Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.
  3. She said to Elijah, "What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?"
  4. "Give me your son," Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.
  5. Then he cried out to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought tragedy also upon this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?"
  1. 그는 아이 위에 세 번 엎드려 몸과 몸을 맞추고 나서 야훼께 기도하였다. "오, 야훼 나의 하느님, 제가 당신께 기도합니다. 이 아이의 몸에 다시 생명의 호흡이 돌아오게 해주십시오."
  2. 야훼께서 엘리야의 기도를 들으시고 그 아이에게 다시 생명의 호흡을 주시어 마침내 아이는 살아났다.
  3. 엘리야는 그 아이를 안고 아래층으로 내려와 아이 어머니에게 주면서 말하였다. "보시오. 부인의 아들이 살아났습니다."
  4. 그러자 여인이 엘리야에게 말하였다. "어른께서는 과연 하느님의 사람이십니다. 어른께서 전하신 야훼의 말씀도 참이심을 이제 알았습니다."
  1. Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this boy's life return to him!"
  2. The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived.
  3. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"
  4. Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from your mouth is the truth."
