열왕기하 18:13-19:37

 북이스라엘을 정복한 앗수르의 산헤립은 여세를 몰아 남유다를 침공하여 유다 백성들을 조롱하며 이스라엘의 하나님을 모독하였다. 위기에 봉착한 히스기야는 이스라엘의 구원을 위해 먼저 하나님의 전을 찾고, 이사야에게 기도를 부탁했다. 이사야는 하나님의 응답으로 앗수르의 심판과 유다의 회복을 예언하였고, 그 예언대로 앗수르 군은 파멸되고 산헤립은 죽음을 당했다.
  
  앗수르의 유다 침공(18:13-18:37)    
 
  1. 히즈키야 왕 제십사년에 아시리아 왕 산헤립이 유다를 침략하여 모든 요새화된 성읍들을 점령하였다.
  2. 유다 왕 히즈키야는 라기스의 아시리아 왕에게 전갈을 보냈다. "내가 잘못했습니다. 돌아가 주시기만 한다면 어떤 처벌을 내리시든지 달게 받겠습니다." 그리하여 아시리아 왕은 유다 왕 히즈키야에게 은 삼백 달란트와 금 삼십 달란트를 바치라고 하였다.
  3. 히즈키야 왕은 야훼의 전과 왕실 금고에 있는 은을 있는 대로 다 아시리아 왕에게 바쳤다.
  4. 히즈키야가 야훼의 전 본관 문짝들과 문설주에 자기 손으로 입혔던 것마저 벗겨서 아시리아 왕에게 바친 것도 그 때였다.
  5. 아시리아 왕은 라기스에서 총사령관과 내시장관과 시종장관에게 상당한 병력을 주어 히즈키야 왕이 있는 예루살렘으로 보냈다. 그들은 예루살렘에 이르러 마전터로 가는 길가 윗저수지 물길 있는 데로 와 서서
  1. In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.
  2. So Hezekiah king of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria at Lachish: "I have done wrong. Withdraw from me, and I will pay whatever you demand of me." The king of Assyria exacted from Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
  3. So Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the temple of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace.
  4. At this time Hezekiah king of Judah stripped off the gold with which he had covered the doors and doorposts of the temple of the LORD, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
  5. The king of Assyria sent his supreme commander, his chief officer and his field commander with a large army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They came up to Jerusalem and stopped at the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field.
  1. 왕을 불렀다. 그들을 맞으러 궁내대신 힐키야의 아들 엘리야킴과 시종무관 셉나와 공보대신 아삽의 아들 요아가 나가자
  2. 시종장관이 말하였다. "히즈키야에게 전하여라. 아시리아의 대왕께서 하시는 말씀이다. '네가 무엇을 믿고 이렇게 자신만만하냐?
  3. 참모도 없고 군대도 없는 주제에 입술의 빈말만으로 싸움을 이길 수 있다고 생각하느냐? 네가 무엇을 믿고 나에게 반역하느냐?
  4. 네가 믿는 이집트는 부러진 갈대에 불과하다. 그것을 지팡이처럼 믿는다마는 그것을 잡았다가는 도리어 손만 베일 것이다. 이집트 왕 파라오는 자기를 믿는 모든 자들을 그렇게 대한다.
  5. 너희는 나에게 말하기를 너희 하느님 야훼를 믿는다고 하겠지마는 유다와 이스라엘 백성에게 예루살렘에 있는 제단 앞에서만 예배를 드려야 한다고 하며, 야훼의 산당들과 제단들을 헐어버린 것이 히즈키야가 아니냐?'
  1. They called for the king; and Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went out to them.
  2. The field commander said to them, "Tell Hezekiah: " 'This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours?
  3. You say you have strategy and military strength--but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?
  4. Look now, you are depending on Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces a man's hand and wounds him if he leans on it! Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him.
  5. And if you say to me, "We are depending on the LORD our God"-isn't he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, "You must worship before this altar in Jerusalem"?
  1. 자, 나의 주인이신 아시리아 왕과 승부를 겨루어보아라. 네가 기수만 내놓을 수 있다면 내가 너에게 말 이천 마리를 주겠다.
  2. 너에게 우리 주인의 하잘것없는 졸병 하나인들 물리칠 힘이 있겠느냐? 그러면서 이집트에서 병거나 기병부대가 오려니 하고 있구나.
  3. 내가 야훼의 분부도 없이 어떻게 이 곳을 치러 올라왔겠느냐? 야훼께서 나에게 일찍이 이 땅을 쳐부수러 올라가라고 분부하셨다."
  4. 힐키야의 아들 엘리야킴과 셉나와 요아가 시종장관에게 청하였다. "아람어로 말씀해 주시오. 우리는 아람어를 알아들을 수 있습니다. 백성이 성 위에서 듣고 있는데, 유다 말로 말씀하지 말아주시오."
  5. 시종장관이 대답하였다. "나의 주인께서 너희 상전이나 너희에게만 이 말을 전하라고 나를 보내신 줄 아느냐? 성 위에서 너희와 같이 제 오줌과 제 똥을 먹고 앉아 있는 자들에게도 전하라고 나를 보내신 것이다."
  1. " 'Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses--if you can put riders on them!
  2. How can you repulse one officer of the least of my master's officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen ?
  3. Furthermore, have I come to attack and destroy this place without word from the LORD ? The LORD himself told me to march against this country and destroy it.' "
  4. Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, and Shebna and Joah said to the field commander, "Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Don't speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall."
  5. But the commander replied, "Was it only to your master and you that my master sent me to say these things, and not to the men sitting on the wall--who, like you, will have to eat their own filth and drink their own urine?"
  1. 이어 시종장관은 일어서서 유다 말로 크게 말하였다. "들어라. 아시리아 대왕의 말씀이다.
  2. 대왕께서 말씀하신다. '히즈키야에게 속지 마라. 그가 나에게서 너희를 구해 내지 못하리라.
  3. 그가 너희를 설득하여 야훼를 의지하자고 하고 또 야훼가 너희를 구할 것이므로, 이 성이 절대로 아시리아 왕에게 함락되지 않는다고 말하더라도 그 말을 믿지 마라.
  4. 히즈키야가 하는 말은 듣지 마라.' 아시리아 왕께서 말씀하신다. '나와 강화 조약을 맺자. 나에게 항복하여라. 그리하면 너희는 각기 자기가 재배하는 포도와 무화과를 먹을 수 있게 되고 자기 물통의 물을 마실 수 있게 될 것이다.
  5. 때가 되면 내가 와서 너희의 조국 땅과 다름없는 땅, 곧 곡식과 새 포도주가 나고 빵과 과일, 올리브 나무와 좋은 기름과 꿀이 나는 땅에 너희를 정착시키리라. 너희는 모두 죽음 대신에 생명을 택하여라. 히즈키야의 말을 듣지 마라. 그는 야훼가 너희를 구해 줄 것이라고 말하여 너희를 그릇 인도할 뿐이다.
  1. Then the commander stood and called out in Hebrew: "Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!
  2. This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you from my hand.
  3. Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, 'The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.'
  4. "Do not listen to Hezekiah. This is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and fig tree and drink water from his own cistern,
  5. until I come and take you to a land like your own, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey. Choose life and not death! "Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, 'The LORD will deliver us.'
  1. 그 어느 민족의 신이 아시리아의 왕으로부터 자기 영토를 구하였더냐?
  2. 하맛과 아르밧의 신들은 어디 갔느냐? 스발와임과 헤나와 아와의 신들은 어디 갔느냐? 사마리아 땅의 신들은 어디 갔느냐? 그들이 사마리아를 내 손에서 건졌더냐?
  3. 여러 민족의 신들 중에 자기 영토를 나에게서 구해 낸 신이 하나라도 있었느냐? 야훼가 어찌 예루살렘을 구하겠느냐?'"
  4. 그러나 백성들은 침묵을 지키고 아무런 대답도 하지 않았다. 적장의 말에 아무 대꾸도 하지 말라고 히즈키야 왕이 명령했기 때문이었다.
  5. 궁내대신 힐키야의 아들 엘리야킴과 시종무관 셉나와 공보대신 아삽의 아들 요아는 옷을 찢으며 히즈키야 왕에게 돌아가서 적의 시종장관이 한 말을 모두 보고하였다.
  1. Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
  2. Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they rescued Samaria from my hand?
  3. Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?"
  4. But the people remained silent and said nothing in reply, because the king had commanded, "Do not answer him."
  5. Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary and Joah son of Asaph the recorder went to Hezekiah, with their clothes torn, and told him what the field commander had said.
 
  이사야의 예언(19:1-19:37)    
 
  1. 히즈키야 왕은 그들의 보고를 듣고 나서 입고 있던 옷을 찢고 삼베옷을 두르고 야훼의 성전에 들어가
  2. 궁내대신 엘리야킴과 시종무관 셉나와 고위 사제들에게 모두 삼베옷을 입혀 아모쓰의 아들 예언자 이사야에게 가서
  3. 왕의 말을 전하게 하였다. "이 날은 우리에게 환난의 날이며 질책과 치욕의 날이오. 우리는 마치 아기를 낳으려 하나 아기를 낳을 힘이 없는 산모와 같소.
  4. 그대의 하느님 야훼께서는 아시리아 왕이 보낸 시종장관이 살아 계신 하느님을 조롱하여 한 말을 모두 들으셨을 것이오. 그리고 그대의 하느님 야훼께서는 그 말을 들으시고 꾸짖으실 것이오. 아직 살아 남아 있는 자들을 위하여 기도를 드려주시오."
  5. 히즈키야 왕의 시종들이 이사야에게 가자
  1. When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD.
  2. He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
  3. They told him, "This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.
  4. It may be that the LORD your God will hear all the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives."
  5. When King Hezekiah's officials came to Isaiah,
  1. 이사야는 이렇게 대답하였다. "가서 그대들의 상전에게 전하시오. 이것은 야훼의 말씀이오. '아시리아 왕의 아첨배들이 나를 비방하여 한 말을 가지고 놀라지 마라.
  2. 내가 아시리아 왕을 귀신에 사로잡히게 하여 뜬소문을 듣고 자기 나라로 철수토록 하리라. 그 후에 거기에서 칼에 맞아 죽게 하리라.'"
  3. 이 때 시종장관은 아시리아 왕이 라기스를 떠났다는 소식을 듣고 퇴각하여 리브나를 공격하고 있는 아시리아 왕과 합세하였다.
  4. 아시리아 왕은 구스의 왕 티르하가가 자기와 교전하기 위하여 진격하고 있다는 정보에 접하고 히즈키야에게 다시 특사를 보내며 일렀다.
  5. "유다 왕 히즈키야에게 이렇게 전하여라. '네가 의지하고 있는 너의 하느님이, 예루살렘은 아시리아 왕에게 정복되지 않으리라고 말한다 하더라도 그 말에 속지 마라.
  1. Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard--those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
  2. Listen! I am going to put such a spirit in him that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.' "
  3. When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.
  4. Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the Cushite king of Egypt , was marching out to fight against him. So he again sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word:
  5. "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.'
  1. 아시리아의 역대 왕들이 주위의 여러 나라들을 정복하고 그 백성들을 무찌른 사실을 너는 분명히 들어 알고 있지 않느냐? 그래도 네가 피할 수 있으리라고 바라느냐?
  2. 나의 선왕들은 여러 나라를 쳐서 무찔렀다. 고산, 하란, 레셉, 들바살에 있는 에덴족 등, 이들 나라의 신들이 제 나라를 구출했더냐?
  3. 하맛, 아르밧, 스발와임, 헤나, 아와, 이 모든 나라의 왕들은 모두 어디 갔느냐?'"
  4. 히즈키야는 특사들에게서 서신을 받아 읽었다. 그리고 나서 그는 곧장 야훼의 전에 올라가 야훼 앞에 그 편지를 펼쳐놓고
  5. 이렇게 기도하였다. "만군의 야훼, 거룹들 위에서 다스리시는 이스라엘의 하느님이여, 당신은 지상의 모든 왕국을 지배하시는 유일하신 하느님이십니다. 당신께서 하늘과 땅을 만드셨습니다.
  1. Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?
  2. Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them: the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?
  3. Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?"
  4. Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.
  5. And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD : "O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.
  1. 야훼여, 귀를 기울이시고 들어주십시오. 야훼여, 눈을 뜨고 보십시오. 산헤립이 보낸 자들이 살아 계신 하느님을 조롱하여 하는 말을 들어보십시오.
  2. 야훼여, 아시리아의 역대 왕들이 이웃의 여러 나라들과 그 영토를 짓밟았고
  3. 그 나라들의 신들을 불에 던졌음은 사실입니다. 하기야 그 나라들의 신들은 사람의 손으로 만든 물건으로서 다만 나무와 돌에 지나지 않습니다만, 그렇지 않고서야 어찌 없애버릴 수 있었겠습니까?
  4. 야훼, 우리의 하느님이여, 그의 손아귀로부터 우리를 구원하여 주십시오. 그리하여 땅 위의 모든 왕국들이, 야훼여, 당신만이 홀로 하느님이심을 알게 하여주십시오."
  5. 아모쓰의 아들 이사야가 히즈키야에게 사람을 보내어 말하였다. "이스라엘의 하느님, 야훼의 말씀이오. '아시리아 왕 산헤립을 두고 간구한 너의 기도를 내가 들었다.'
  1. Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.
  2. "It is true, O LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands.
  3. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by men's hands.
  4. Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God."
  5. Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.
  1. 아시리아 왕을 두고 야훼께서 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '시온의 딸, 처녀가 너를 비웃고 멸시하리라. 네가 퇴각할 때 예루살렘의 딸이 그 머리를 들리라.
  2. 네가 누구를 조소하고 비방하였는가? 네가 누구에게 큰소리를 쳤는가? 이스라엘의 거룩한 이에게 너는 거만한 눈길을 던졌다.
  3. 너는 특사를 보내어 주를 조소하며 말하였다. 내가 나의 병거를 타고 위대한 업적을 이루었노라고. 또 높은 산을 정복하였으며, 레바논의 막다른 봉우리까지 올랐노라고. 레바논의 우람한 삼목과 가장 훌륭한 잣나무를 내가 베어 제쳤노라고. 레바논의 평온한 안식처, 그 숲과 초원을 내가 다 밟았노라고.
  4. 내가 또 외국 땅에서 우물을 파 그 물을 마셔보았으며, 나의 발바닥으로 이집트에 있는 모든 강의 물을 말렸노라고.
  5. 그러나 너는 오래 전에 듣지 못하였느냐? 내가 이룩한 이 모든 업적을. 오래 전에 내가 그 일을 계획하였고 또 지금 내가 그 일을 성취하였으니 견고한 요새는 무너져 한갓 돌무더기에 불과하게 되리라.
  1. This is the word that the LORD has spoken against him: " 'The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.
  2. Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
  3. By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord. And you have said, "With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I have reached its remotest parts, the finest of its forests.
  4. I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt."
  5. " 'Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.
  1. 그 나라 백성들은 기진맥진하여 실망하고 부끄러움을 당하였다. 그들의 신세는 들판의 식물 같고 돌풍에 날려가는 지붕 위의 마른 풀과 같다.
  2. 나는 네가 일어나고 앉는 것, 나가고 들어오는 것을 다 알고 있다.
  3. 또한 네가 나를 거역하여 품고 있는 분노와 오만을 나는 일찍부터 알았다. 그러므로 너의 코에 쇠고리를 꿰고 입에 자갈을 물려 네가 왔던 그 길로 되돌려보내리라.
  4. 이것이 너에게 증거가 될 것이다. 올해에는 떨어진 씨에서 저절로 난 곡식을 먹을 것이고, 내년에는 심지 않고 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹으리라. 그러나 후년에는 씨를 뿌려서 추수하고 포도밭을 가꾸어 그 열매를 먹으리라.
  5. 유다 땅에 살아 남은 자들은 땅 속으로 싱싱한 뿌리를 내릴 것이고, 땅 위에서 열매를 맺으리라.
  1. Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.
  2. " 'But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me.
  3. Because you rage against me and your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.'
  4. "This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
  5. Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.
  1. 살아 남은 자들이 예루살렘에서 나오고 난을 피한 자들이 시온 산에서 나올 것이다. 만군의 야훼께서 열성을 부어 이 일을 이루시리라.'
  2. 그러므로 야훼께서 아시리아 왕을 두고 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '그는 이 성에 들어오지 못하리라. 이 성에 활을 쏘지도 못하리라. 방패를 가지고 이 성에 쳐들어오지 못할 것이며 토성을 쌓지도 못하리라.
  3. 그는 제가 온 길로 되돌아갈 것이며 이 성에는 결코 발을 들여놓지 못하리라. 이것은 야훼의 말이다.
  4. 나 자신을 보아서, 그리고 나의 종 다윗을 보아서 내가 이 성을 지키고 구원하리라.'"
  5. 그 날 밤 야훼의 천사가 나타나 아시리아 진영에서 군인 십팔만 오천 명을 쳤다. 아침이 되어 날이 밝았을 때 그들은 모두 시체로 발견되었다.
  1. For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
  2. "Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria: "He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.
  3. By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city, declares the LORD.
  4. I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant."
  5. That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!
  1. 아시리아 왕 산헤립은 막사를 걷어 니느웨로 돌아가서 그 곳에 머물렀다.
  2. 그런데 어느날 그가 그의 신인 니스록의 신전에서 예배하고 있을 때, 그의 아들 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 그를 칼로 쳐죽이고는 아라랏 지방으로 도망하였다. 그의 아들 에살하똔이 왕위를 계승하였다.
  1. So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.
  2. One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.
