느헤미야 3:1-4:23

 이스라엘 백성들은 성벽 건축과 중수에 각기 맡은 대로 헌신하였다. 산발랏과 도비야의 세력들은 성벽 건축 방해 음모를 꾸몄다. 그러나 이 사실을 안 느헤미야는 하나님께 기도하였고 백성들에게 성벽 공사를 진행할 때 노역과 파수를 번갈아 가며 참여하도록 하였다.
  
  성벽 건축자들(3:1-3:32)    
 
  1. 대사제 엘랴십은 동료 사제들을 거느리고 양 다니는 문을 세우기 시작하였다. 문틀을 짜고 문을 만들어 달았다. 그런 다음 메아 망대까지, 또 하나넬 망대까지 수축하여 하느님께 봉헌하였다.
  2. 그 옆에 잇닿은 부분은 예리고 사람들이 세웠으며, 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 이므리의 아들 자구르가 세웠다.
  3. 물고기문은 하쓰나아 일가가 세웠다. 문틀을 짜고 문짝을 만들어 달고 빗장과 빗장꽂이를 만들어 달았다.
  4. 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 하코스의 손자요 우리야의 아들인 므레못이 보수하였고 그 옆에 잇닿은 부분은 므세자브엘의 손자요 베레기야의 아들인 므술람이 보수하였으며, 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 바아나의 아들 사독이 보수하였다.
  5. 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 드고아 사람들이 보수하였는데, 그들 가운데 어떤 유력자들은 상전들의 말대로 공사에 가담하지 않았다.
  1. Eliashib the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and set its doors in place, building as far as the Tower of the Hundred, which they dedicated, and as far as the Tower of Hananel.
  2. The men of Jericho built the adjoining section, and Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.
  3. The Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place.
  4. Meremoth son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired the next section. Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs.
  5. The next section was repaired by the men of Tekoa, but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work under their supervisors.

  4. 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 예루살렘 반 구역의 장이었던, 후르의 아들 르바이야가 보수하였다.
  5. 또 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 하루맙의 아들 여다야가 보수하였는데, 이 부분은 바로 그의 집 앞이었다. 그 옆에 잇닿은 부분은 하삽니야의 아들 하투스가 보수하였다.
  1. The Jeshanah Gate was repaired by Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah. They laid its beams and put its doors and bolts and bars in place.
  2. Next to them, repairs were made by men from Gibeon and Mizpah--Melatiah of Gibeon and Jadon of Meronoth--places under the authority of the governor of Trans-Euphrates.
  3. Uzziel son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired the next section; and Hananiah, one of the perfume-makers, made repairs next to that. They restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.
  4. Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section.
  5. Adjoining this, Jedaiah son of Harumaph made repairs opposite his house, and Hattush son of Hashabneiah made repairs next to him.

  4. 쓰레기 쳐내는 문은 벳하께렘 구역의 장이었던 레갑의 아들 말기야가 보수하였다. 성문을 세우고 문짝을 만들고 빗장과 빗장꽂이를 만들어 달았다.
  5. 샘터로 나가는 문은 미스바 구역의 장이었던 골호재의 아들 살룸이 보수하였다. 문을 세우고 지붕을 얹은 다음 문짝을 만들고 빗장과 빗장꽂이를 만들어 달았다. 또 그는 왕궁 동산 옆에 있는 셀라 늪 성벽을 다윗의 도성에서 내려오는 층계에 이르기까지 보수하였다.
  1. Malkijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section and the Tower of the Ovens.
  2. Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler of a half-district of Jerusalem, repaired the next section with the help of his daughters.
  3. The Valley Gate was repaired by Hanun and the residents of Zanoah. They rebuilt it and put its doors and bolts and bars in place. They also repaired five hundred yards of the wall as far as the Dung Gate.
  4. The Dung Gate was repaired by Malkijah son of Recab, ruler of the district of Beth Hakkerem. He rebuilt it and put its doors and bolts and bars in place.
  5. The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun son of Col-Hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah. He rebuilt it, roofing it over and putting its doors and bolts and bars in place. He also repaired the wall of the Pool of Siloam, by the King's Garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.

  1. Beyond him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tombs of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes.
  2. Next to him, the repairs were made by the Levites under Rehum son of Bani. Beside him, Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his district.
  3. Next to him, the repairs were made by their countrymen under Binnui son of Henadad, ruler of the other half-district of Keilah.
  4. Next to him, Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, repaired another section, from a point facing the ascent to the armory as far as the angle.
  5. Next to him, Baruch son of Zabbai zealously repaired another section, from the angle to the entrance of the house of Eliashib the high priest.
  1. 그 다음 잇닿은 또 그만한 부분을 엘랴십의 집 문에서 엘랴십의 집 한 끝에 이르기까지 보수한 것은 하코스의 손자요 우리야의 아들인 므레못이었다.
  2. 그 다음 잇닿은 부분은 예루살렘 둘레에서 사는 사제들이 보수하였다.

  2. The repairs next to him were made by the priests from the surrounding region.
  3. Beyond them, Benjamin and Hasshub made repairs in front of their house; and next to them, Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah, made repairs beside his house.
  4. Next to him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section, from Azariah's house to the angle and the corner,
  5. and Palal son of Uzai worked opposite the angle and the tower projecting from the upper palace near the court of the guard. Next to him, Pedaiah son of Parosh
  1. (26ㄱ)그들은 해 뜨는 쪽에 있는 수문 맞은편까지 보수하였다. 거기에도 앞으로 튀어나온 성루가 있었다. (26ㄴ)오벨에는 성전의 막일꾼들이 살고 있었다.
  2. 그 다음 잇닿은 그만한 부분을 보수한 것은 드고아 사람들이었다. 그들은 튀어나온 큰 성루에서 오벨 성곽까지 보수하였다.

  1. and the temple servants living on the hill of Ophel made repairs up to a point opposite the Water Gate toward the east and the projecting tower.
  2. Next to them, the men of Tekoa repaired another section, from the great projecting tower to the wall of Ophel.
  3. Above the Horse Gate, the priests made repairs, each in front of his own house.
  4. Next to them, Zadok son of Immer made repairs opposite his house. Next to him, Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, the guard at the East Gate, made repairs.
  5. Next to him, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. Next to them, Meshullam son of Berekiah made repairs opposite his living quarters.
  1. 그 다음으로 금장이 말기야가 성전 막일꾼들과 상인들의 숙소가 있는 데까지 보수하였는데, 성 모퉁이 다락이 있는 데까지 보수하였으므로 그 집에서는 점호문이 마주보였다.
  2. 성 모퉁이 다락에서 양 다니는 문까지의 사이는 금장이들과 상인들이 보수하였다.
  1. Next to him, Malkijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the room above the corner;
  2. and between the room above the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants made repairs.
 
  방해 세력(4:1-4:23)    
 
  1. 우리가 예루살렘 성벽의 허물어진 곳을 메우며 착착 쌓아 올린다는 소식을 듣고 산발랏과 토비야와 아랍인들과 암몬인들과 아스돗인들은 화가 치솟아
  2. 예루살렘을 치기로 동맹을 맺었다. 우리가 하는 일을 혼란에 빠뜨리려는 것이었다.
  3. 우리는 우리 하느님께 기도를 올리는 한편, 보초를 세워 적이 쳐들어오지 않는가 밤낮으로 살피게 하였다.
  4. 그런데 어찌 된 일인지 유다인들의 입에서는 이런 노래가 흘러 나오고 있었다. "흙더미는 많기도 많아 져내다가 져내다가 지쳐버렸네. 아무래도 우리 힘으로는 성을 다 못 쌓고 말겠네."
  5. 그런 형편에 원수들은 우리 눈에 띄지 않게 감쪽같이 쳐들어와 우리를 죽이고 일을 중단시키려고 했던 것이다.
  1. When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews,
  2. and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, "What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble--burned as they are?"
  3. Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, "What they are building--if even a fox climbed up on it, he would break down their wall of stones!"
  4. Hear us, O our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity.
  5. Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders.
  1. 그들과 접경하고 사는 유다인들이 사방에서 와 적이 쳐 올라온다고 여남은 번이나 일러주었으므로
  2. 나는 사람들에게 칼과 창과 활을 주어 성 밖 아래 평원에 가문별로 배치하였다.
  3. 나는 귀족들과 관리들을 비롯하여 백성들을 사열하고 나서 훈시하였다. "원수들을 두려워하지 마라. 높으시고 두려우신 주님께서 계시다는 것을 잊지 마라. 일가 친척과 처자들을 생각하거든 나아가 싸워라."
  4. 원수들은 우리가 이미 눈치챘다는 소식, 곧 하느님께서 저희 계획을 뒤엎으셨다는 소식을 듣고는 되돌아가고 말았다. 우리는 모두 성으로 돌아와 저마다 맡은 일을 다시 하게 되었다.
  5. 그 날부터 나는 수하 젊은이들 중에서 반만 일을 시키고 반은 갑옷을 입혀 창과 방패를 들거나 활을 잡게 하였다. 이들은 온 유다 가문을 지켜
  1. So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.
  2. But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the men of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem's walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry.
  3. They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it.
  4. But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.
  5. Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, "The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall."
  1. 성 쌓는 데 지장이 없도록 하였다. 무거운 짐을 지는 사람들은 한 손으로는 짐을 받치고 한 손으로는 창을 잡게 하였다.
  2. 성 쌓는 사람은 모두 칼을 옆구리에 차고 쌓게 하였으며, 내 옆에는 나팔수를 두었다.
  3. 그리고 나는 귀족들과 관리들과 그 밖의 백성들에게 일러두었다. "할 일은 많고 지역은 넓기 때문에 우리는 성을 끼고 서로 멀리 떨어져서 일을 해야 한다.
  4. 그렇게 일을 하다가도 나팔 소리만 나면, 소리나는 곳으로 모여라. 우리 하느님께서 우리 편이 되어 싸워주실 것이다."
  5. 우리는 이렇게 반수는 창을 잡고 동이 틀 때부터 별이 보일 때까지 일을 하였다.
  1. Also our enemies said, "Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work."
  2. Then the Jews who lived near them came and told us ten times over, "Wherever you turn, they will attack us."
  3. Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows.
  4. After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
  5. When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work.
  1. 나는 백성에게 "모든 사람은 자기 종을 데리고 예루살렘 성 안에 묵으면서 밤에는 파수를 서고 낮에는 일하도록 하여라." 하고 일렀다.
  2. 그리고 나도 내 형제도, 내 수하 젊은이도, 내 경호원도 모두 옷을 벗는 일이 없었고 손에서 무기를 놓는 일이 없었다.
  1. From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah
  2. who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other,
  3. and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.
  4. Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall.
  5. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!"
  1. So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out.
  2. At that time I also said to the people, "Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and workmen by day."
  3. Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.
