- 형제 여러분, 생각하는 데는 어린아이가 되지 마십시오. 악한 일에는 어린아이가 되고, 생각하는 데는 어른이 되십시오.
- 율법서에 "'내가 이상한 언어를 말하는 자들의 혀와 외국인의 입술을 빌려 이 백성에게 말할지라도 그들은 끝내 내 말을 귀담아듣지 않으리라.' 주께서 말씀하신다."고 기록되어 있습니다.
- 그러므로 이상한 언어는 믿는 사람을 위한 것이 아니라 믿지 않는 사람에게 보여주신 하느님의 능력의 표입니다. 그러나 말씀을 받아 전하는 것은 믿지 않는 사람을 위한 것이 아니라 믿는 사람에게 보여주신 하느님의 능력의 표입니다.
- 만일 온 교회가 모여서 저마다 이상한 언어로 말하고 있을 때 보통 교인이나 믿지 않는 사람들이 그 자리에 들어온다면 그들은 여러분을 보고 미쳤다고 하지 않겠습니까?
- 그러나 모두가 하느님의 말씀을 받아 전하고 있을 때, 믿지 않는 사람이나 보통 교인이 그 자리에 들어온다면 그 사람은 모든 사람이 하는 말을 듣고 마음에 가책을 받아 자기가 죄인이라는 것을 깨닫게 될 것이고

- Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.
- In the Law it is written: "Through men of strange tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me," says the Lord.
- Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.
- So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
- But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understandcomes in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all,

- 마침내 자기 마음에 품은 비밀이 폭로될 것입니다. 그러면 엎드려 하느님을 경배하며 "진정으로 하느님께서 여러분과 함께 계십니다." 하고 고백하게 될 것입니다.
- 그러면, 형제 여러분, 어떻게 해야 하겠습니까? 여러분이 함께 모일 때에는 찬송하는 사람도 있고 가르치는 사람도 있고 하느님의 계시를 말하는 사람도 있고 이상한 언어로 말하는 사람도 있고 그것을 해석하는 사람도 있을 터이지만 모든 것은 교회 발전에 도움이 되도록 해야 합니다.
- 이상한 언어를 말할 때에는 둘이나 많아야 셋이 차례로 말해야 하고 한 사람은 그것을 해석해 주어야 합니다.
- 해석할 사람이 없을 때에는 교회 안에서는 그런 말을 쓰지 말고 혼자서 말하거나 하느님하고만 말하십시오.
- 하느님의 말씀을 받아서 전하는 사람도 둘이나 셋만 말하고 다른 사람들은 그것을 잘 새겨들으십시오.

- and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!"
- What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.
- If anyone speaks in a tongue, two--or at the most three--should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.
- If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God.
- Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.

- 그러나 곁에 앉은 사람이 하느님의 계시를 받을 경우에는 먼저 말하던 사람은 말을 중단해야 합니다.
- 그래야 하느님의 말씀을 받은 사람들이 차례로 다 말씀을 전하게 되어 모든 사람이 배우고 격려를 받게 될 것입니다.
- 하느님의 말씀을 받아 전하는 사람은 자기 심령을 자제할 수 있어야 합니다.
- 하느님께서 바라시는 것은 무질서가 아니고 평화이기 때문입니다. 성도들의 모든 교회가 하고 있는 대로
- 여자들은 교회 집회에서 말할 권리가 없으니 말을 하지 마십시오. 율법에도 있듯이 여자들은 남자에게 복종해야 합니다.

- And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop.
- For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
- The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets.
- For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,
- women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.

- 알고 싶은 것이 있으면 집에 돌아가서 남편들에게 물어보도록 하십시오. 여자가 교회 집회에서 말하는 것은 자기에게 수치가 됩니다.
- 하느님의 말씀이 여러분에게서 나왔다는 말입니까? 또는 여러분만이 하느님의 말씀을 받았다는 말입니까?
- 자기가 하느님의 말씀을 받아 전한다고 생각하거나 성령의 선물을 받았다고 생각하는 사람은 내가 여러분에게 써 보내는 이 말이 주님의 명령이라는 것을 깨달아야 합니다.
- 이것을 깨닫지 못하는 사람의 말은 인정할 수 없습니다.
- 그러므로 형제 여러분, 하느님의 말씀을 받아 전하는 은혜를 간절히 구하십시오. 그리고 이상한 언어를 말하는 것도 굳이 막지는 마십시오.

- If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
- Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached?
- If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command.
- If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored.
- Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.

- 다만 나는 여러분이 모든 일에 점잖게 또 질서 있게 처리해 주시기를 바랄 뿐입니다.
