욥기 20:1-22:30

 소발은 잔인하기 짝이 없는 비유까지 서슴지 않고 하면서 욥에게 회개를 강조하였다. 이에 대하여 욥은 가만히 있을 수 없어서 악인의 형통함에 관하여 역설하였다. 엘리바스는 욥의 죄악이 크다고 책망하였다. 그러나 훗날에 그는 위로자의 자세로 돌아가 회개하여 불의를 버리면 하나님께서 다시 욥의 기도를 들어주실 것이라고 권면하였다.
  
  소발의 두번째 충고(20:1-20:29)    
 
  1. 나아마 사람 소바르가 말을 받았다.
  2. 마음이 설레어, 대답하지 않고는 답답하여 견디지 못하겠네.
  3. 나더러 들으라고 하는 꾸지람이 사실은 나를 모욕하는 것, 그러나 거기에 대답할 말들을 나는 속으로부터 알고 있네.
  4. 그래, 자네는 도무지 몰랐더란 말인가? 사람이 땅에 처음 나타나던 한 옛날부터
  5. 악인의 웃음 소리란 금방 멎는 것이요, 위선자의 즐거움이란 찰나에 사라진다는 것을.
  1. Then Zophar the Naamathite replied:
  2. "My troubled thoughts prompt me to answer because I am greatly disturbed.
  3. I hear a rebuke that dishonors me, and my understanding inspires me to reply.
  4. "Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since man was placed on the earth,
  5. that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.
  1. 하늘을 찌를 듯 우쭐하고 그 머리가 구름에 닿을 듯하다가도
  2. 짐승의 마른 똥같이 단번에 날아가 버려 친지들조차 그의 행방을 모르게 된다는 것을.
  3. 아무도 찾을 수 없이 꿈처럼 날아가고 밤의 환상처럼 사라진다는 것을.
  4. 그를 살피던 눈에 다시는 뜨이지 않고 몸담아 살던 곳에도 다시는 나타날 수 없는 몸,
  5. 그에게 착취당한 자들에게는 그의 자녀들이 보상해 주어야 하고 그가 빼앗은 재물은 그의 후손들이 물어주어야 하며
  1. Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,
  2. he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
  3. Like a dream he flies away, no more to be found, banished like a vision of the night.
  4. The eye that saw him will not see him again; his place will look on him no more.
  5. His children must make amends to the poor; his own hands must give back his wealth.
  1. 그의 뼈 마디마디에서 넘치던 젊음도 이제는 그와 함께 땅에 잦아들고 만다네.
  2. 악을 씹어 단맛을 즐기고 혀 밑에서 살금살금 녹이면서
  3. 아까워서 내뱉지 못하고 입 속으로 우물거리고 있지만
  4. 그러나 뱃속에서 그 음식은 썩어 뱀의 독으로 변한다네.
  5. 집어삼켰던 재산은 아니 토해낼 수 없는 것, 하느님께서 밀어내시는데 어쩌겠는가?
  1. The youthful vigor that fills his bones will lie with him in the dust.
  2. "Though evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue,
  3. though he cannot bear to let it go and keeps it in his mouth,
  4. yet his food will turn sour in his stomach; it will become the venom of serpents within him.
  5. He will spit out the riches he swallowed; God will make his stomach vomit them up.
  1. 뱀의 독을 빨고 독사의 혀에 물려죽을 몸,
  2. 올리브 기름이 흐르는 도랑, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 개천들을 볼 생각은 아예 말게나.
  3. 애써 얻은 것을 먹지도 못하고 돌려줘야 하며 장사해서 얻은 재산으로 재미도 보지 못하리니
  4. 빈민들을 억눌러 들볶고 남이 지은 것을 빼앗기나 하면서 자기는 어찌 무사하리요?
  5. 먹어도 먹어도 배부르지 아니하고 긁어 모은 재산에 얽매여 꼼짝없이 망한다네.
  1. He will suck the poison of serpents; the fangs of an adder will kill him.
  2. He will not enjoy the streams, the rivers flowing with honey and cream.
  3. What he toiled for he must give back uneaten; he will not enjoy the profit from his trading.
  4. For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; he has seized houses he did not build.
  5. "Surely he will have no respite from his craving; he cannot save himself by his treasure.
  1. 남아날 것 없이 마구 집어삼키고 어찌 자기의 영화가 오래 가리라고 믿겠는가?
  2. 남아 돌아 흥청대다가, 재난이 밀어닥치면 갑자기 옹색하게 되고 만다네.
  3. 배를 채우려거든 채우게. 그러나 진노의 불길이 떨어지고 죽음의 화살이 쏟아져 내려,
  4. 철무기를 피하면 놋화살에 맞아
  5. 화살은 등을 뚫고 시퍼런 창끝은 쓸개를 터뜨릴 터인데 어찌 두렵지 않겠는가?
  1. Nothing is left for him to devour; his prosperity will not endure.
  2. In the midst of his plenty, distress will overtake him; the full force of misery will come upon him.
  3. When he has filled his belly, God will vent his burning anger against him and rain down his blows upon him.
  4. Though he flees from an iron weapon, a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.
  5. He pulls it out of his back, the gleaming point out of his liver. Terrors will come over him;
  1. 앞에서 그믐밤 같은 어둠이 도사리고 풀무질도 없이 타오르는 불길이 삼킬 듯 달려들어 천막에 남은 식구들까지 모두 사를 것일세.
  2. 하늘은 그의 죄악을 폭로하러 나서고 땅은 그의 죄상을 증언하러 나서리니
  3. 하느님의 진노가 터지는 날, 그의 집은 홍수에 쓸려가고 말 것일세.
  4. 죄인이 하느님에게서 받을 분깃은 바로 이것, 이것이 하느님에게 물려받을 유산 아닌가?
  1. total darkness lies in wait for his treasures. A fire unfanned will consume him and devour what is left in his tent.
  2. The heavens will expose his guilt; the earth will rise up against him.
  3. A flood will carry off his house, rushing waters on the day of God's wrath.
  4. Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God."
 
  욥의 변증(21:1-21:34)    
 
  1. 욥이 말을 받았다.
  2. 내 호소를 좀 들어다오. 들어주는 것만이 위로가 되겠네.
  3. 좀 참아다오, 나 말 좀 하리라. 나의 말이 끝나거든 비웃게.
  4. 내가 지금 사람에게 불평하고 있는가? 내가 짜증을 부린다면, 까닭이 있지 않겠는가?
  5. 나를 쳐다보게나. 기가 막혀 열린 입이 닫히지 않을 것일세.
  1. Then Job replied:
  2. "Listen carefully to my words; let this be the consolation you give me.
  3. Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
  4. "Is my complaint directed to man? Why should I not be impatient?
  5. Look at me and be astonished; clap your hand over your mouth.
  1. 나도 그 생각만 하면, 미칠 것 같네. 몸에 소름이 다 끼치네.
  2. 악한 자들이 오래 살며 늙을수록 점점 더 건강하니 어찌 된 일인가?
  3. 자식들이 든든히 자리를 잡고 후손들이 잘사는 것을 보며 흐뭇해 하지 않는가?
  4. 그들의 집은 태평무사하여 두려워할 일이 없고 하느님에게 매를 맞는 일도 없지 않는가?
  5. 황소는 영락없이 새끼를 배게 하고 암소는 유산하는 일이 없더군.
  1. When I think about this, I am terrified; trembling seizes my body.
  2. Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
  3. They see their children established around them, their offspring before their eyes.
  4. Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not upon them.
  5. Their bulls never fail to breed; their cows calve and do not miscarry.
  1. 개구쟁이들을 양 새끼처럼 풀어놓으면, 그 어린것들이 마구 뛰어 놀며
  2. 소구를 두드리고 거문고를 뜯으며 노래하고 피리소리를 들으며 흥겨워하지 않는가?
  3. 일생 행복하게 지내다가 고요히 지하로 내려가더군.
  4. 기껏 하느님께 한다는 소리가 "우리 앞에서 비키시오. 당신의 가르침 따위는 알고 싶지도 않소.
  5. 전능하신 분이 다 무엇인데 그를 섬기며 무슨 먹을 것이 있겠다고 그에게 빌랴!"
  1. They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about.
  2. They sing to the music of tambourine and harp; they make merry to the sound of the flute.
  3. They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.
  4. Yet they say to God, 'Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.
  5. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'
  1. 자기의 행운을 수중에 넣은 자들, 그 악한 자들의 생각이 어찌 하느님의 생각과 같으랴.
  2. 이러한 악인의 등불이 자주 꺼지던가? 재난이 그에게 떨어지던가? 하느님께서 진노하시어 벌을 내리시던가?
  3. 그들은 바람에 날리는 검불과 같으며 삽시간에 폭풍에 쓸려가는 지푸라기와 같다고 하지만,
  4. "하느님께서는 아비에게 줄 벌을 남겨두셨다가 그 자식들에게 내리신다." 하지만 그게 어디 될 말인가? 본인이 받을 줄로 알아야지.
  5. 제 파멸은 제 눈으로 보아야 하고 전능하신 분께서 내리시는 사약은 본인이 마셔야지.
  1. But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.
  2. "Yet how often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out? How often does calamity come upon them, the fate God allots in his anger?
  3. How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a gale?
  4. It is said, 'God stores up a man's punishment for his sons.' Let him repay the man himself, so that he will know it!
  5. Let his own eyes see his destruction; let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
  1. 살 만큼 살고 죽은 뒤에 집안이 어찌 된들 무슨 상관이 있겠는가?
  2. 그러나 하늘 높은 곳에 있는 자들을 심판하시는 하느님, 그분을 깨우쳐드릴 사람이 어디에 있으랴?
  3. 숨질 때까지 기운이 뻗쳐 태평무사한 나날을 보내며
  4. 뱃가죽에는 기름이 돌고 뼛골이 싱싱한 사람이 있는가 하면
  5. 쓰라린 가슴을 안고 숨을 거두는 사람, 행복이란 맛도 보지 못한 사람이 또한 있지 아니한가?
  1. For what does he care about the family he leaves behind when his allotted months come to an end?
  2. "Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?
  3. One man dies in full vigor, completely secure and at ease,
  4. his body well nourished, his bones rich with marrow.
  5. Another man dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good.
  1. 모두 티끌 위에 누우면 하나같이 구더기가 득실거릴 터인데.
  2. 자네들 속을 나는 잘 알고 있네. 나를 때려잡을 것처럼 무슨 꿍꿍이속인가?
  3. "양반들이 살던 집이 어디 있으며 불의한 자들의 천막이 어디 있느냐?" 한다마는
  4. 견문이 넓은 사람에게 물어보지도 못하였는가? 말귀도 알아듣지 못하였는가?
  5. 재난이 밀어닥치는 날, 악인은 난을 피하고 하느님께서 분노를 터뜨리시는 날, 그는 살아 남는다고 하지 않던가?
  1. Side by side they lie in the dust, and worms cover them both.
  2. "I know full well what you are thinking, the schemes by which you would wrong me.
  3. You say, 'Where now is the great man's house, the tents where wicked men lived?'
  4. Have you never questioned those who travel? Have you paid no regard to their accounts-
  5. that the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, that he is delivered from the day of wrath?
  1. 장본인 앞에서 그의 과거를 폭로할 사람이 있던가? 그가 한 일의 배상을 받아낼 사람이 과연 있던가?
  2. 무덤으로 실려가면 무덤지기가 있어 지켜주며
  3. 언덕의 흙을 따뜻이 덮어주고 조객은 줄을 지어 뒤를 따를 것일세.
  4. 그런데 자네들은 어쩌자고 바람 같은 말로 나를 위로하려고 하는가? 자네들의 말대답이란 속임수에 지나지 않네.
  1. Who denounces his conduct to his face? Who repays him for what he has done?
  2. He is carried to the grave, and watch is kept over his tomb.
  3. The soil in the valley is sweet to him; all men follow after him, and a countless throng goes before him.
  4. "So how can you console me with your nonsense? Nothing is left of your answers but falsehood!"
 
  엘리바스의 세번째 충고(22:1-22:30)    
 
  1. 데만 사람 엘리바즈가 말을 받았다.
  2. 하느님께서 장사의 힘을 빌려야 하겠다는 말인가? 슬기로운 사람의 덕이라도 입으셔야겠다는 말인가?
  3. 자네가 올바르게 산다고 하여 그것이 전능하신 분께 무슨 대단한 일이 되겠는가? 자네가 흠없이 산다고 하여 그것이 하느님께 무슨 유익이 되겠는가?
  4. 하느님께서, 당신을 공경하였다고 해서 자네를 꾸짖으시고 재판에 붙이시는 것인가?
  5. 자네가 저지른 죄는 너무나도 많아 이루 다 셀 수 없지 않은가?
  1. Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:
  2. "Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise man benefit him?
  3. What pleasure would it give the Almighty if you were righteous? What would he gain if your ways were blameless?
  4. "Is it for your piety that he rebukes you and brings charges against you?
  5. Is not your wickedness great? Are not your sins endless?
  1. 한 피 받은 동기의 재산을 마구 빼앗고 헐벗은 이의 옷을 벗기며
  2. 기진맥진한 사람에게 물 한 모금 주지 아니하고 굶어 죽는 사람에게 먹을 것을 주지 않더니,
  3. 주먹이 세다고 하여 땅을 차지하고는 세도가 있다고 하여 그 차지한 땅에서 거들먹거리면서
  4. 과부를 알몸으로 쫓아내고 고아들의 팔을 꺾더니,
  5. 그러고도 어찌 올가미를 벗어나며 갑자기 덮치는 무서운 일을 피할 수 있겠는가?
  1. You demanded security from your brothers for no reason; you stripped men of their clothing, leaving them naked.
  2. You gave no water to the weary and you withheld food from the hungry,
  3. though you were a powerful man, owning land-- an honored man, living on it.
  4. And you sent widows away empty-handed and broke the strength of the fatherless.
  5. That is why snares are all around you, why sudden peril terrifies you,
  1. 어둠이 밀려오면 앞이 캄캄해지고 홍수에 휘말리는 것도 그 때문이 아닌가?
  2. 하느님께서는 하늘 높이 계시어 아득히 높은 별들을 내려다보고 계시는 분,
  3. 그런데 자네는 감히 비웃는구나. "하느님이 안다면 무엇을 알랴. 어둠에 싸여 있으면서 무슨 심판을 하랴!
  4. 구름에 가리워 아무것도 보지 못하며 하늘 가를 서성거리고 있으면서......"
  5. 악인들이 가던 그 옛길, 자네는 아직도 그 길을 걸으려는가?
  1. why it is so dark you cannot see, and why a flood of water covers you.
  2. "Is not God in the heights of heaven? And see how lofty are the highest stars!
  3. Yet you say, 'What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness?
  4. Thick clouds veil him, so he does not see us as he goes about in the vaulted heavens.'
  5. Will you keep to the old path that evil men have trod?
  1. 그들은 때도 아닌데 덜미를 잡히고 삶의 터전을 강물에 떠내려 보냈다네.
  2. 그들은 하느님께, "썩 비키시오. 전능하신 분이 우리를 어찌하겠다는 거요?" 하며 빈정거렸고
  3. 하느님을 제쳐놓고 일을 꾸몄는데도 하느님께서는 그 악한들의 집을 좋은 것으로 채워주셨단 말일세.
  4. 그러나 의인은 그들이 망하는 것을 보고 기뻐하며 순진한 사람은 그들을 비웃게 될 것일세.
  5. "그들의 재산은 말끔히 없어지고 쓰다 남은 것은 불에 타버리는구나."
  1. They were carried off before their time, their foundations washed away by a flood.
  2. They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do to us?'
  3. Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.
  4. "The righteous see their ruin and rejoice; the innocent mock them, saying,
  5. 'Surely our foes are destroyed, and fire devours their wealth.'
  1. 그러니, 이제 하느님과 화해하고 가까워지게나. 그리하면 정녕 복이 돌아오리니,
  2. 그의 입에서 나오는 가르침을 받고 그의 말씀을 속 깊이 새겨두게.
  3. 겸손하게 전능하신 분께 돌아오고 장막에서 온갖 거짓을 몰아내게.
  4. 금을 땅에 내버리고 오빌의 정금을 냇가의 돌틈에 버린다면,
  5. 전능하신 분께서 금처럼 귀중하게 보이고 순은처럼 빛나 보일 것일세.
  1. "Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
  2. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.
  3. If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored: If you remove wickedness far from your tent
  4. and assign your nuggets to the dust, your gold of Ophir to the rocks in the ravines,
  5. then the Almighty will be your gold, the choicest silver for you.
  1. 전능하신 분께서 자네의 즐거움이 되어 하느님께 얼굴을 쳐들게 될 것일세.
  2. 그에게 빌면 정녕 들어주시리니 자네는 서원한 대로 바칠 수 있게 될 것일세.
  3. 마음먹은 일은 무엇이든지 다 이루어지고 앞길은 환하게 빛날 것일세.
  4. 하느님께서는 거만한 자를 누르시고 겸손한 자를 도와주신다네.
  5. 그는 무죄한 사람을 풀어놓으시는 분, 그러니 자네도 손만 깨끗하다면 풀려날 것이 아닌가?
  1. Surely then you will find delight in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.
  2. You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.
  3. What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.
  4. When men are brought low and you say, 'Lift them up!' then he will save the downcast.
  5. He will deliver even one who is not innocent, who will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands."
