이사야 37:1-38:22

 히스기야는 하나님께 훼방하는 말을 한 산헤립에 대해 기도하였고, 하나님께서는 산헤립과 더불어 앗수르 군을 멸하셨다. 그 후 히스기야가 병들어 죽게 되어 하나님께 기도하자, 하나님께서는 그의 기도에 응답하셔서 생명을 15년 연장시켜 주셨다. 이에 히스기야는 하나님께 감사의 찬양을 드렸다.
  
  하나님을 의뢰한 히스기야(37:1-37:38)    
 
  1. 히즈키야 왕은 그들의 보고를 듣고 나서 입고 있던 옷을 찢고 삼베옷을 두르고 야훼의 성전에 들어가
  2. 궁내대신 엘리아킴과 시종무관 셉나와 고위 사제들에게 모두 삼베옷을 입혀 아모쓰의 아들 예언자 이사야에게 가서
  3. 왕의 말을 전하게 하였다. "이 날은 우리에게 환난의 날이며 질책과 치욕의 날이오. 우리는 마치 아기를 낳으려 하나 아기를 낳을 힘이 없는 산모와 같소.
  4. 그대의 하느님 야훼께서는 아시리아 왕이 보낸 시종무관이 살아 계신 하느님을 조롱하여 한 말을 모두 들으셨을 것이오. 그리고 그대의 하느님 야훼께서는 그 말을 들으시고 꾸짖으실 것이오. 아직 살아 남아 있는 사람들을 위하여 기도를 드려주시오."
  5. 히즈키야 왕의 시종들이 이사야에게 가자,
  1. When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and went into the temple of the LORD.
  2. He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
  3. They told him, "This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the point of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.
  4. It may be that the LORD your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the LORD your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives."
  5. When King Hezekiah's officials came to Isaiah,
  1. 이사야는 이렇게 대답하였다. "가서 그대들의 상전께 전하시오. 이것은 야훼의 말씀이오. '아시리아 왕의 아첨배들이 나를 비방하여 한 말을 가지고 놀라지 마라.
  2. 내가 아시리아 왕을 귀신에 사로잡히게 하여 뜬소문을 듣고 자기 나라로 철수하게 하리라. 그 후에 거기에서 칼에 맞아 죽게 하리라.'"
  3. 이 때 시종장관은 아시리아 왕이 라기스를 떠났다는 소식을 듣고 퇴각하여 리브나를 공격하고 있는 아시리아 왕과 합세하였다.
  4. 아시리아 왕은 구스 왕 티르하가가 자기와 교전하기 위하여 진격하고 있다는 정보에 접하고 히즈키야에게 다시 특사를 보내며 일렀다.
  5. "유다 왕 히즈키야에게 이렇게 전하여라. '네가 의지하고 있는 너의 하느님이, 예루살렘은 아시리아 왕에게 정복되지 않으리라고 말한다 하더라도 그 말에 속지 마라.
  1. Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard--those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
  2. Listen! I am going to put a spirit in him so that when he hears a certain report, he will return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.' "
  3. When the field commander heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.
  4. Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the Cushite king of Egypt , was marching out to fight against him. When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word:
  5. "Say to Hezekiah king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, 'Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.'
  1. 아시리아의 역대 왕들이 주위의 여러 나라들을 정복하고 그 백성들을 무찌른 사실을 너는 분명히 들어 알고 있지 않느냐? 그래도 네가 피할 수 있으리라고 바라느냐?
  2. 나의 선왕들은 여러 나라를 쳐서 무찔렀다. 고잔, 하란, 레셉, 들라살에 있는 에덴족 등, 이들 나라의 신들이 제 나라를 구출했더냐?
  3. 하맛, 아르밧, 스발와임, 헤나, 아와, 이 모든 나라의 왕들은 모두 어디 갔느냐?'"
  4. 히즈키야는 특사들에게서 서신을 받아 읽었다. 그리고 나서 그는 곧장 야훼의 전에 올라가 야훼 앞에 그 편지를 펼쳐놓고
  5. 이렇게 기도하였다.
  1. Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely. And will you be delivered?
  2. Did the gods of the nations that were destroyed by my forefathers deliver them--the gods of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph and the people of Eden who were in Tel Assar?
  3. Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, or of Hena or Ivvah?"
  4. Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.
  5. And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD :
  1. "만군의 야훼, 거룹들 위에서 다스리시는 이스라엘의 하느님이여, 당신은 지상의 모든 왕국을 지배하시는 유일하신 하느님이십니다. 당신께서 하늘과 땅을 만드셨습니다.
  2. 야훼여, 귀를 기울이시고 들어주십시오. 야훼여, 눈을 뜨시고 보십시오. 산헤립이 보낸 자들이 살아 계신 하느님을 조롱하여 하는 말을 들어보십시오.
  3. 야훼여, 아시리아의 역대 왕들이 이웃의 여러 나라들과 그 영토를 짓밟았고
  4. 그 나라들의 신들을 불에 던졌음은 사실입니다. 하기야 그 나라들의 신은 사람의 손으로 만든 물건으로서 다만 나무와 돌에 지나지 않습니다만, 그렇지 않고서야 어찌 없애버릴 수 있었겠습니까?
  5. 야훼, 우리의 하느님이여, 그의 손아귀로부터 우리를 구원하여 주십시오. 그리하여 땅 위의 모든 왕국들이, 야훼여, 당신만이 홀로 하느님이심을 알게 하여주십시오."
  1. "O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.
  2. Give ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; listen to all the words Sennacherib has sent to insult the living God.
  3. "It is true, O LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands.
  4. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands.
  5. Now, O LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God. "
  1. 아모쓰의 아들 이사야가 히즈키야에게 사람을 보내어 말을 전하였다. "'아시리아 왕 산헤립을 두고 간구한 너의 기도를 내가 들었다.' 하고 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 말씀하셨소.
  2. 야훼께서 산헤립을 두고 선언하신 말씀을 들으시오. '시온의 딸, 처녀가 너를 비웃고 멸시하리라. 네가 퇴각할 때 예루살렘의 딸이 그 머리를 들리라.
  3. 네가 누구를 조소하고 비방하였는가? 네가 누구에게 큰소리를 쳤는가? 이스라엘의 거룩한 이에게 너는 거만한 눈길을 던졌다.
  4. 너는 특사를 보내어 주를 조소하며 말하였다. 내가 나의 병거를 타고 위대한 업적을 이루었노라고, 또 높은 산을 정복하였으며 레바논의 막다른 봉우리까지 올랐노라고. 레바논의 우람한 삼목과 가장 훌륭한 잣나무를 내가 베어 제쳤노라고. 레바논의 평온한 안식처, 그 숲과 초원을 내가 다 밟았노라고.
  5. 내가 또 외국 땅에서 우물을 파고 그 물을 마셔보았으며 나의 발바닥으로 이집트에 있는 모든 강물의 물을 말렸노라고.
  1. Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,
  2. this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: "The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you. The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.
  3. Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
  4. By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord. And you have said, 'With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines. I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.
  5. I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.'
  1. 그러나 너는 오래 전에 듣지 못하였느냐? 내가 이룩한 이 모든 업적을 오래 전에 내가 그 일을 계획하였고 또 지금 내가 그 일을 성취하였으니 견고한 요새는 무너져 한낱 돌무더기에 불과하게 되리라.
  2. 그 나라 백성들은 기진맥진하여 실망하고 부끄러움을 당하였다. 그들의 신세는 들의 식물 같고 동풍에 날려가는 지붕 위의 마른 풀과 같다.
  3. 나는 네가 일어나고 앉는 것, 나가고 들어오는 것을 다 알고 있다.
  4. 또한 네가 나를 거역하여 품고 있는 분노와 오만을 나는 일찍부터 알았다. 그러므로 너의 코에 쇠고리를 꿰고 입에 재갈을 물려 네가 왔던 그 길로 되돌려보내리라.
  5. 이것이 너에게 증거가 될 것이다. 올해에는 떨어진 씨에서 저절로 난 곡식을 먹을 것이고, 내년에는 심지 않고 저절로 자라난 곡식을 먹으리라. 그러나 후년에는 씨를 뿌려서 추수하고 포도밭을 가꾸고 그 열매를 먹으리라.
  1. "Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it. In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.
  2. Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame. They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.
  3. "But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against me.
  4. Because you rage against me and because your insolence has reached my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.
  5. "This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
  1. 유다 땅에 살아 남은 자들은 땅 속으로 싱싱한 뿌리를 내릴 것이고, 땅 위에서 열매를 맺으리라.
  2. 살아 남은 자들이 예루살렘에서 나오고 난을 피한 자들이 시온 산에서 나올 것이다. 만군의 야훼께서 열성을 부어 이 일을 이루시리라.'
  3. 그러므로 야훼께서 아시리아 왕을 두고 이렇게 말씀하셨소. '그는 이 성에 들어오지 못하리라. 이 성에 화살을 쏘지도 못하리라. 방패를 가지고 이 성에 쳐들어오지 못할 것이며 토성을 쌓지도 못하리라.
  4. 그는 제가 온 길로 되돌아갈 것이며 이 성에는 결코 발을 들여놓지 못하리라. 이것은 야훼의 말이다.
  5. 나 자신을 보아서, 그리고 나의 종 다윗을 보아서 내가 이 성을 지키고 구원하리라.'"
  1. Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above.
  2. For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
  3. "Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria: "He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. He will not come before it with shield or build a siege ramp against it.
  4. By the way that he came he will return; he will not enter this city," declares the LORD.
  5. "I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant!"
  1. 그 날 밤, 야훼의 천사가 나타나 아시리아 진영에서 군인 십팔만 오천 명을 쳤다. 아침이 되어 날이 밝았을 때 그들은 모두 시체로 발견되었다.
  2. 아시리아 왕 산헤립은 막사를 걷어 니느웨로 돌아가서 그 곳에 머물렀다.
  3. 그런데 어느 날, 그가 그의 신인 니스록의 신전에서 예배하고 있을 때, 그의 두 아들 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 그를 칼로 쳐죽이고는 아라랏 지방으로 도망하였다. 그의 아들 에살하똔이 왕위를 계승하였다.
  1. Then the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning--there were all the dead bodies!
  2. So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.
  3. One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer cut him down with the sword, and they escaped to the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son succeeded him as king.
 
  히스기야의 치유(38:1-38:22)    
 
  1. 그 무렵 히즈키야가 몹시 앓아 거의 죽게 되었다. 아모쓰의 아들 예언자 이사야가 왕에게 와서 말하였다. "이것은 야훼의 말씀이오. '너의 왕실에 마지막 유시를 내려 기강을 바로잡아라. 너는 곧 죽게 될 것이며 다시 회복되지 못하리라.'"
  2. 히즈키야는 벽을 향하여 얼굴을 돌리고 야훼께 기도하였다.
  3. "오, 야훼여, 제가 항상 당신 앞에서 참되게 살았으며 충성스럽게 당신을 섬겼고 당신 보시기에 선한 일을 행하였음을 기억하여 주십시오." 그리고 나서 히즈키야는 매우 슬프게 울었다.
  4. 야훼의 말씀이 이사야에게 내렸다.
  5. "가서 히즈키야에게 일러라. '너의 선조 다윗의 하느님 야훼가 하는 말이다. 네 기도를 내가 들었고, 네 눈물을 내가 보았다. 내가 너의 병을 낫게 해주리라. 삼 일 만에 너는 야훼의 전에 올라가게 되리라. 내가 너의 수명을 십오 년 더 연장시켜 주리라.
  1. In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover."
  2. Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,
  3. "Remember, O LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
  4. Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah:
  5. "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.
  1. 너와 이 성을 아시리아 왕의 손아귀에서 구해 내고 이 성을 보호하리라.'"
  2. 이사야가 대답하였다. "여기에 야훼께서 당신의 약속을 그대로 이루시리라는 증거가 있습니다.
  3. 보시오. 내가 아하즈의 태양시계에 비친 그림자를 내려갔던 금에서 열 칸 올라오게 하겠소." 그러자 해가 되돌아가서 내려갔던 그림자가 열 칸이나 올라왔다.
  4. 유다 왕 히즈키야는 병이 낫고 회복되자 이렇게 노래하였다.
  5. 나는 생각하였습니다. 이제 한창 살 나이에 저승의 문에 들어가야 하는구나. 남은 세월을 빼앗기고 마는구나.
  1. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.
  2. " 'This is the LORD's sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised:
  3. I will make the shadow cast by the sun go back the ten steps it has gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.' " So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had gone down.
  4. A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery:
  5. I said, "In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?"
  1. 나는 생각하였습니다. 사람이 사는 이 땅에서 다시는 야훼를 뵙지 못하고 이 지구 위에 사는 사람을 두 번 다시 보지 못하겠구나!
  2. 나의 초막은 목동의 초막처럼 뽑혀 말끔히 치워졌습니다. 당신께서는 직조공이 천을 감아들이듯 나의 목숨을 감아들이고, 베틀에서 자르듯 자르십니다. 해가 떠도, 해가 져도 당신께서는 나를 보아주시지 아니하십니다.
  3. 아침이 되도록 나는 호소합니다. 주께서 사자같이 나의 뼈를 부수십니다. 해가 떠도, 해가 져도 당신께서는 나를 보아주시지 아니하십니다.
  4. 내가 제비처럼 애타게 웁니다. 비둘기처럼 구슬프게 웁니다. 내 눈은 높은 곳을 우러러보다가 멍해집니다. 나의 주여, 괴롭습니다. 나를 보살펴 주십시오.
  5. 내가 무슨 말을 하겠습니까? 무엇이라고 주께 아뢰겠습니까? 주님께서 하신 일인데! 내 마음의 슬픔 때문에 잠도 멀리 도망치고 말았습니다.
  1. I said, "I will not again see the LORD, the LORD, in the land of the living; no longer will I look on mankind, or be with those who now dwell in this world.
  2. Like a shepherd's tent my house has been pulled down and taken from me. Like a weaver I have rolled up my life, and he has cut me off from the loom; day and night you made an end of me.
  3. I waited patiently till dawn, but like a lion he broke all my bones; day and night you made an end of me.
  4. I cried like a swift or thrush, I moaned like a mourning dove. My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens. I am troubled; O Lord, come to my aid!"
  5. But what can I say? He has spoken to me, and he himself has done this. I will walk humbly all my years because of this anguish of my soul.
  1. 나의 주여, 내가 마음으로 당신만을 바라보고 살겠습니다. 마음을 진정시켜 주시고 살려주십시오.
  2. 이제 슬픔은 가시고 평화가 왔습니다. 당신께서는 나를 멸망의 구렁에서 건져주셨습니다. 나의 죄악을 당신의 뒤로 던져버리셨습니다.
  3. 저승이 어찌 당신을 기리며 죽음이 어찌 당신을 찬미하겠습니까? 땅 속에 들어간 자들이 어찌 당신의 성실하심이 나타나기를 바라겠습니까?
  4. 오늘 이 몸이 당신을 찬미하듯이 살아 숨쉬는 자만이 당신을 찬미하옵니다. 나도 한 아비로서 자식들에게 당신의 성실하심을 알리겠습니다.
  5. 야훼여, 나를 구해 주신 이는 당신이십니다. 우리는 한평생, 야훼의 전에서 거문고를 뜯으며 노래하겠습니다.
  1. Lord, by such things men live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live.
  2. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.
  3. For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.
  4. The living, the living--they praise you, as I am doing today; fathers tell their children about your faithfulness.
  5. The LORD will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the LORD.
  1. 그리고 이사야는 사람들에게 일렀다. "무화과로 고약을 만들어 종기에 붙여드리시오. 그러면 임금께서 사실 것이오."
  2. 히즈키야가 물었다. "무슨 증거를 보고 내가 야훼의 성전에 올라가게 될 것을 알 수 있겠소?"
  1. Isaiah had said, "Prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover."
  2. Hezekiah had asked, "What will be the sign that I will go up to the temple of the LORD ?"
