- 율법은 장차 나타날 좋은 것들의 그림자일 뿐이고 실체가 아니기 때문에 해마다 계속해서 같은 희생제물을 드려도 그것을 가지고 하느님 앞에 나아가는 사람들을 완전하게 할 수는 없습니다.
- 만일 그렇게 해서 완전해질 수 있었다면 예배하는 사람들이 단번에 깨끗하게 되어 다시는 죄의식을 가지지 않았을 것이며 따라서 계속해서 제물을 바치지도 않았을 것이 아닙니까?
- 그런데 해마다 제물을 바치면서 죄를 되새겨야 하는 것은
- 황소와 염소의 피로써는 죄를 없앨 수가 없기 때문입니다.
- 그래서 그리스도께서 세상에 오셨을 때에 하느님께 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. "당신은 율법의 희생제물과 봉헌물을 원하시지 않았습니다. 그래서 저를 참 제물로 받으시려고 인간이 되게 하셨습니다.

- The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
- If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.
- But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins,
- because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
- Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;

- 당신은 번제물과 속죄의 제물도 기뻐하지 않으셨습니다.
- 그래서 제가 말했습니다. '하느님, 저는 성서에 기록된 대로 당신의 뜻을 이루려고 왔습니다.'"
- 그리스도께서 처음에는 "당신은 희생제물과 봉헌물과 번제물과 속죄제물을 원하지도 기뻐하지도 않으셨습니다." 하고 말씀하셨습니다. 이런 것들은 율법을 따라 바쳐지는 것인데도 그리스도께서는 이렇게 말씀하신 것입니다.
- 다음에는 "하느님, 저는 당신의 뜻을 이루려고 왔습니다." 하고 말씀하셨습니다. 이렇게 그리스도께서는 나중 것을 세우기 위해서 먼저 것을 폐기하셨습니다.
- 예수 그리스도께서는 하느님의 뜻을 따라 단 한 번 몸을 바치셨고 그 때문에 우리는 거룩한 사람이 되었습니다.

- with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
- Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, O God.' "
- First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made).
- Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.
- And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

- 사제가 날마다 성전에서 예배의식을 거행하며 같은 희생제물을 자주 드리더라도 그 제물들이 결코 죄를 없애버릴 수는 없습니다.
- 그러나 그리스도께서는 당신 자신을 오직 한 번 희생제물로 바치심으로써 죄를 없애주셨습니다. 이것은 영원한 효력을 나타내는 것입니다. 그리고 그리스도께서는 하느님의 오른편에 앉으셔서
- 당신의 원수들이 당신의 발 아래 굴복할 때까지 기다리고 계십니다.
- 그분은 단 한 번 당신 자신을 바치심으로써 거룩하게 만드신 사람들을 영원히 완전하게 해주셨습니다.
- 그리고 성령께서도 이렇게 말씀하시며 증언해 주셨습니다.

- Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
- But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
- Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool,
- because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
- The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

- "'그 날 이후, 내가 그들과 맺을 계약은 이것이다. 나는 나의 율법을 그들의 마음에 심어주고 그들의 생각에 새겨줄 것이다.' 이것은 주님의 말씀이다."
- 그리고 나서 "나는 이제 결코 그들의 죄와 잘못을 마음에 두지 않으리라." 하고 덧붙여 말씀하셨습니다.
- 죄를 용서받았으므로 이제는 죄 때문에 봉헌물을 바칠 필요는 없게 되었습니다.

- "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."
- Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."
- And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.
