- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 하늘 나라의 문을 닫아놓고는 사람들을 가로막아 서서 자기도 들어가지 않으면서 들어가려는 사람마저 못 들어가게 한다."

- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 겨우 한 사람을 개종시키려고 바다와 육지를 두루 다니다가 개종시킨 다음에는 그 사람을 너희보다 갑절이나 더 악한 지옥의 자식으로 만들고 있다."
- "너희 같은 눈먼 인도자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 '성전을 두고 한 맹세는 지키지 않아도 무방하지만 성전의 황금을 두고 한 맹세는 꼭 지켜야 한다.' 하니,
- 이 어리석고 눈먼 자들아, 어느 것이 더 중하냐? 황금이냐? 아니면 그 황금을 거룩하게 만드는 성전이냐?

- But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
- Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
- Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

- 또 너희는 '제단을 두고 한 맹세는 지키지 않아도 무방하지만 그 제단 위에 있는 제물을 두고 한 맹세는 꼭 지켜야 한다.' 하니,
- 이 눈먼 자들아, 어느 것이 더 중하냐? 제물이냐? 아니면 그 제물을 거룩하게 만드는 제단이냐?
- 사실 제단을 두고 한 맹세는 제단과 그 위에 있는 모든 것을 두고 한 맹세이고
- 성전을 두고 한 맹세는 성전과 그 안에 계신 분을 두고 한 맹세이며
- 또 하늘을 두고 한 맹세는 하느님의 옥좌와 그 위에 앉으신 분을 두고 한 맹세이다."

- And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
- Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
- Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
- And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
- And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 박하와 회향과 근채에 대해서는 십분의 일을 바치라는 율법을 지키면서 정의와 자비와 신의 같은 아주 중요한 율법은 대수롭지 않게 여긴다. 십분의 일세를 바치는 일도 소홀히 해서는 안 되겠지만 정의와 자비와 신의도 실천해야 하지 않겠느냐?
- 이 눈먼 인도자들아, 하루살이는 걸러내면서 낙타는 그대로 삼키는 것이 바로 너희들이다."
- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 잔과 접시의 겉만은 깨끗이 닦아놓지만 그 속에는 착취와 탐욕이 가득 차 있다.
- 이 눈먼 바리사이파 사람들아, 먼저 잔 속을 깨끗이 닦아라. 그래야 겉도 깨끗해질 것이다."
- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 겉은 그럴싸해 보이지만 그 속에는 죽은 사람의 뼈와 썩은 것이 가득 차 있는 회칠한 무덤 같다.

- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
- Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
- Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

- 이와 같이 너희도 겉으로는 옳은 사람처럼 보이지만 속은 위선과 불법으로 가득 차 있다."
- "율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들아, 너희 같은 위선자들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 예언자들의 무덤을 단장하고 성자들의 기념비를 장식해 놓고는
- '우리가 조상들 시대에 살았더라면 조상들이 예언자들을 죽이는 데 가담하지 않았을 것이다.' 하고 떠들어댄다.
- 이것은 너희가 예언자를 죽인 사람들의 후손이라는 것을 스스로 실토하는 것이다.
- 그러니 너희 조상들이 시작한 일을 마저 하여라.

- Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
- And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
- Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
- Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

- 이 뱀 같은 자들아, 독사의 족속들아! 너희가 지옥의 형벌을 어떻게 피하랴?
- 나는 예언자들과 현인들과 학자들을 너희에게 보내겠다. 그러나 너희는 그들을 더러는 죽이고 더러는 십자가에 매달고 또 더러는 회당에서 채찍질하며 이 동네 저 동네로 잡으러 다닐 것이다.
- 그래서 마침내 무죄한 아벨의 피로부터 성소와 제단 사이에서 살해된 바라키야의 아들 즈가리야의 피에 이르기까지 땅에서 흘린 모든 무죄한 피 값이 너희에게 돌아갈 것이다.
- 분명히 말해 둔다. 이 모든 죄에 대한 형벌이 이 세대에 내리고야 말 것이다."
- "예루살렘아! 예루살렘아! 너는 예언자들을 죽이고 너에게 보낸 이들을 돌로 치는구나. 암탉이 병아리를 날개 아래 모으듯이 내가 몇 번이나 네 자녀를 모으려 했던가. 그러나 너는 응하지 않았다.

- Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
- Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
- That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
- Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
- O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

- 너희 성전은 하느님께 버림을 받아 황폐해지리라.
- '주의 이름으로 오시는 이여, 찬미받으소서.' 하고 너희 입으로 찬양할 때까지 너희는 정녕 나를 다시 보지 못하리라."

- Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
- For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
