- "하늘 나라는 열 처녀가 저마다 등불을 가지고 신랑을 맞으러 나간 것에 비길 수 있다.
- 그 가운데 다섯은 미련하고 다섯은 슬기로웠다.
- 미련한 처녀들은 등잔은 가지고 있었으나 기름은 준비하지 않았다.
- 한편 슬기로운 처녀들은 등잔과 함께 기름도 그릇에 담아 가지고 있었다.
- 신랑이 늦도록 오지 않아 처녀들은 모두 졸다가 잠이 들었다.

- Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
- And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
- They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
- But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
- While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

- 그런데 한밤중에 '저기 신랑이 온다. 어서들 마중 나가라!' 하는 소리가 크게 들렸다.
- 이 소리에 처녀들은 모두 일어나 제각기 등불을 챙기었다.
- 미련한 처녀들은 그제야 슬기로운 처녀들에게 '우리 등불이 꺼져가니 기름을 좀 나누어다오.' 하고 청하였다.
- 그러나 슬기로운 처녀들은 '우리 것을 나누어주면 우리에게도, 너희에게도 다 모자랄 터이니 너희 쓸 것은 차라리 가게에 가서 사다 쓰는 것이 좋겠다.' 하였다.
- 미련한 처녀들이 기름을 사러 간 사이에 신랑이 왔다. 준비하고 기다리고 있던 처녀들은 신랑과 함께 혼인 잔치에 들어갔고 문은 잠겼다.

- And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
- Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
- And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
- But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
- And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

- 그 뒤에 미련한 처녀들이 와서 '주님, 주님, 문 좀 열어주세요.' 하고 간청하였으나
- 신랑은 '분명히 들으시오. 나는 당신들이 누구인지 모릅니다.' 하며 외면하였다.
- 그 날과 그 시간은 아무도 모른다. 그러니 항상 깨어 있어라."
- "하늘 나라는 또 이렇게 비유할 수 있다. 어떤 사람이 먼 길을 떠나면서 자기 종들을 불러 재산을 맡기었다.
- 그는 각자의 능력에 따라 한 사람에게는 돈 다섯 달란트를 주고 한 사람에게는 두 달란트를 주고 또 한 사람에게는 한 달란트를 주고 떠났다.

- Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
- But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
- Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
- For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
- And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

- 다섯 달란트를 받은 사람은 곧 가서 그 돈을 활용하여 다섯 달란트를 더 벌었다.
- 두 달란트를 받은 사람도 그와 같이 하여 두 달란트를 더 벌었다.
- 그러나 한 달란트를 받은 사람은 가서 그 돈을 땅에 묻어두었다.
- 얼마 뒤에 주인이 와서 그 종들과 셈을 하게 되었다.
- 다섯 달란트를 받은 사람은 다섯 달란트를 더 가지고 와서 '주인님, 주인께서 저에게 다섯 달란트를 맡기셨는데 보십시오, 다섯 달란트를 더 벌었습니다.' 하고 말하였다.

- Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
- And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
- But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
- After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
- And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

- 그러자 주인이 그에게 '잘하였다. 너는 과연 착하고 충성스러운 종이다. 네가 작은 일에 충성을 다하였으니 이제 내가 큰 일을 너에게 맡기겠다. 자, 와서 네 주인과 함께 기쁨을 나누어라.' 하고 말하였다.
- 그 다음 두 달란트를 받은 사람도 와서 '주인님, 두 달란트를 저에게 맡기셨는데 보십시오, 두 달란트를 더 벌었습니다.' 하고 말하였다.
- 그래서 주인은 그에게도 '잘하였다. 너는 과연 착하고 충성스러운 종이다. 네가 작은 일에 충성을 다하였으니 이제 내가 큰 일을 너에게 맡기겠다. 자, 와서 네 주인과 함께 기쁨을 나누어라.' 하고 말하였다.
- 그런데 한 달란트를 받은 사람은 와서 '주인님, 저는 주인께서 심지 않은 데서 거두시고 뿌리지 않은 데서 모으시는 무서운 분이신 줄을 알고 있었습니다.
- 그래서 두려운 나머지 저는 주인님의 돈을 가지고 가서 땅에 묻어두었습니다. 보십시오, 여기 그 돈이 그대로 있습니다.' 하고 말하였다.

- His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
- He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
- His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
- Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
- And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

- 그러자 주인은 그 종에게 호통을 쳤다. '너야말로 악하고 게으른 종이다. 내가 심지 않은 데서 거두고 뿌리지 않은 데서 모으는 사람인 줄로 알고 있었다면
- 내 돈을 돈 쓸 사람에게 꾸어주었다가 내가 돌아올 때에 그 돈에 이자를 붙여서 돌려주어야 할 것이 아니냐?
- 여봐라, 저자에게서 한 달란트마저 빼앗아 열 달란트 가진 사람에게 주어라.
- 누구든지 있는 사람은 더 받아 넉넉해지고 없는 사람은 있는 것마저 빼앗길 것이다.
- 이 쓸모없는 종을 바깥 어두운 곳에 내쫓아라. 거기에서 가슴을 치며 통곡할 것이다.'"

- His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
- Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
- Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
- For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
- And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
