- 예수께서는 말씀을 마치시고 어느 바리사이파 사람의 저녁 초대를 받아 그 집에 들어가 식탁에 앉으셨다.
- 그런데 예수께서 손씻는 의식을 치르지 않고 음식을 잡수시는 것을 보고 그 바리사이파 사람은 깜짝 놀랐다.
- 그래서 주께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너희 바리사이파 사람들은 잔과 접시의 겉은 깨끗이 닦아놓지만 속에는 착취와 사악이 가득 차 있다.
- 이 어리석은 사람들아, 겉을 만드신 분이 속도 만드신 것을 모르느냐?
- 그릇 속에 담긴 것을 가난한 사람들에게 주어라. 그러면 모든 것이 다 깨끗해질 것이다.

- And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.
- And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
- And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
- Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?
- But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

- 너희 바리사이파 사람들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희가 박하와 운향과 그 밖의 모든 채소는 십분의 일을 바치면서 정의를 행하는 일과 하느님을 사랑하는 일은 대수롭지 않게 여기는구나. 십분의 일을 바치는 일도 소홀히 해서는 안 되지만 이것도 실천해야 하지 않겠느냐?
- 너희 바리사이파 사람들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 회당에서는 높은 자리를 즐겨 찾고 장터에서는 인사받기를 좋아한다.
- 너희는 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 드러나지 않는 무덤과 같다. 사람들은 무덤인 줄도 모르고 그 위를 밟고 지나다닌다."
- 이 때 율법교사 한 사람이 나서서 "선생님, 그런 말씀은 저희에게도 모욕이 됩니다." 하고 투덜거렸다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 "너희 율법교사들도 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 견디기 어려운 짐을 남에게 지워놓고 자기는 그 짐에 손가락 하나 대지 않는다.

- But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
- Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
- Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.
- And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

- 너희는 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 너희의 조상들이 죽인 예언자들의 무덤을 꾸미고 있다.
- 그렇게 해서 너희는 너희 조상들의 소행에 대한 증인이 되었고 또 그 소행을 두둔하고 있다. 너희 조상들은 예언자들을 죽였고 너희는 그 무덤을 꾸미고 있으니 말이다.
- 그래서 하느님의 지혜가 '내가 그들에게 예언자들과 사도들을 보낼 터인데 그들은 더러는 죽이고 더러는 박해할 것이다.' 하고 말씀하셨던 것이다.
- 그러므로 이 세대는 창세 이래 모든 예언자가 흘린 피에 대한 책임을 져야 할 것이다.
- 잘 들어라. 아벨의 피를 비롯하여 제단과 성소 사이에서 살해된 즈가리야의 피에 이르기까지 그 일에 대한 책임을 이 세대가 져야 할 것이다.

- Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
- Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
- Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
- That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
- From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

- 너희 율법교사들은 화를 입을 것이다. 너희는 지식의 열쇠를 치워버렸고 자기도 들어가지 않으면서 들어가려는 사람마저 들어가지 못하게 하였다."
- 예수께서 그 집을 나오셨을 때 율법학자들과 바리사이파 사람들은 앙심을 품고 여러 가지 질문을 던져
- 예수의 대답에서 트집을 잡으려고 노리고 있었다.

- Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
- And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
- Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
