- 리스트라에는 나면서부터 앉은뱅이가 되어 한 번도 걸어본 적이 없는 불구자 한 사람이 살고 있었다.
- 그가 하루는 바울로의 설교를 듣고 있었는데 바울로가 그를 눈여겨보더니 그에게 몸이 성해질 만한 믿음이 있는 것을 알고는
- 큰소리로 "일어나 똑바로 서보시오." 하고 말하였다. 그러자 그는 벌떡 일어나서 걷기 시작하였다.
- 사람들은 바울로가 한 일을 보고 리가오니아말로 "저 사람들은 사람 모양을 하고 우리에게 내려온 신들이다." 하고 떠들었다.
- 바르나바는 제우스 신이요, 주로 설교를 맡아서 한 바울로는 헤르메스 신이라고 불렀다.

- And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
- The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
- Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
- And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
- And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

- 성밖에 있는 제우스 신당의 사제는 황소 몇 마리와 화환을 성문 앞으로 가지고 나와서 사람들과 함께 사도들에게 제사를 지내려고 하였다.
- 이 소문을 들은 바르나바와 바울로 두 사도는 옷을 찢으며 군중 속에 뛰어들어 이렇게 외쳤다.
- "여러분, 이게 무슨 짓입니까? 우리도 여러분과 똑같은 사람입니다. 우리는 다만 여러분에게 복음을 전하여 여러분이 이런 헛된 우상을 버리고 살아 계신 하느님께 돌아오게 하려고 왔을 따름입니다. 이 하느님은 하늘과 땅과 바다와 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만드신 분입니다.
- 지난 날에는 하느님께서 모든 나라 사람을 제멋대로 살게 내버려두셨습니다.
- 그러면서도 하느님께서는 은혜를 베푸셔서 하늘에서 비를 내려주시고 철을 따라 열매를 맺게 하시고 먹을 것을 주셔서 여러분의 마음을 흡족하게 채워주셨습니다. 이렇게 하느님께서는 항상 당신 자신을 알려주셨습니다."

- Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
- Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
- And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
- Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
- Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

- 두 사도는 이렇게 말하면서 사람들이 자기들에게 제사를 지내지 못하도록 겨우 말렸다.

- And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
