- 형제 여러분, 내가 여러분을 찾아갔을 때에 나는 유식한 말이나 지혜를 가지고 하느님의 그 심오한 진리를 전하려고 하지는 않았습니다.
- 그것은 내가 여러분과 함께 지내는 동안 예수 그리스도, 특히 십자가에 달리신 그리스도 외에는 아무것도 생각하지 않기로 하였기 때문입니다.
- 사실 나는 여러분에게 갔을 때 약하였고 두려워서 몹시 떨었습니다.
- 그리고 내가 말을 하거나 설교를 할 때에도 지혜롭고 설득력 있는 언변을 쓰지 않고 오로지 하느님의 성령과 그의 능력만을 드러내려고 하였습니다.
- 그것은 여러분의 믿음이 인간의 지혜에 바탕을 두지 않고 하느님의 능력에 바탕을 두게 하려는 것이었습니다.

- And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
- For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
- And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
- And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
- That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

- 그러나 우리는 신앙 생활이 성숙한 사람들에게는 지혜를 말합니다. 다만 그 지혜는 이 세상의 지혜나 이 세상에서 곧 멸망해 버릴 통치자들의 지혜와는 다릅니다.
- 여기에서 말하는 지혜는 하느님의 심오한 지혜입니다. 그것은 하느님께서 우리의 영광을 위하여 천지 창조 이전부터 미리 마련하여 감추어두셨던 지혜입니다.
- 이 세상 통치자들은 아무도 이 지혜를 깨닫지 못했습니다. 만일 그들이 깨달았더라면 영광의 주님을 십자가에 못박지는 않았을 것입니다.
- 그러나 성서에는, "눈으로 본 적이 없고 귀로 들은 적이 없으며 아무도 상상조차 하지 못한 일을 하느님께서는 당신을 사랑하는 사람들을 위하여 마련해 주셨다."라는 말씀이 기록되어 있지 않습니까?
- 하느님께서는 그 지혜를 성령을 통하여 우리에게 나타내 보이셨습니다. 성령께서는 하느님의 깊은 경륜에 이르기까지 모든 것을 다 통찰하십니다.

- Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
- But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
- Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
- But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
- But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

- 사람의 생각은 그 사람 속에 있는 마음만이 알 수 있듯이 하느님의 생각은 하느님의 성령만이 아실 수 있습니다.
- 우리가 받은 성령은 세상이 준 것이 아니라 하느님께서 주신 것입니다. 그래서 우리는 하느님께서 우리에게 주시는 은총의 선물을 깨달아 알게 되었습니다.
- 우리는 그 은총의 선물을 전하는 데 있어서도 인간이 가르쳐주는 지혜로운 말로 하지 않고 성령께서 가르쳐주시는 말씀으로 합니다. 이렇게 우리는 영적인 것을 영적인 표현으로 설명합니다.
- 그러나 영적이 아닌 사람은 하느님의 성령께서 주신 것을 받아들이지 않습니다. 그런 사람에게는 그것이 어리석게만 보입니다. 그리고 영적인 것은 영적으로만 이해할 수 있으므로 그런 사람은 그것을 이해하지도 못합니다.
- 영적인 사람은 무엇이나 판단할 수 있지만 그 사람 자신은 아무에게서도 판단받지 않습니다.

- For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
- Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
- Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
- But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
- But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

- 성서에는 "누가 주님의 생각을 알아서 그분의 의논 상대가 되겠느냐?" 하였지만 우리는 그리스도의 생각을 알고 있습니다.

- For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
