- 산양이 언제 새끼를 낳는지 너는 아느냐? 사슴이 새끼를 낳는 것을 지켜본 일이 있느냐?
- 몇 달이나 뱃속에 새끼를 넣고 다니더냐? 그리고 얼마만에 분만하더냐?
- 그것들은 몸을 구푸려 새끼를 낳아 광야에 그 짐을 쏟아 놓는다.
- 그 새끼들이 팔팔하게 자라면 버려둔 채 떠나가서 돌아오지도 않는다.
- 그 누가 들나귀들을 풀어놓아 그것들을 자유롭게 하여주었느냐?

- Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
- Canst thou number the months that they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
- They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
- Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
- Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?

- 들나귀들을 광야에 깃들이게 하며 소금기 머금은 땅에서 살게 한 것은 바로 나다.
- 인가에서 이는 소란쯤은 콧방귀로 날리는 들나귀들을 야단치며 몰아갈 사람이 어디 있느냐?
- 그것들은 먹이를 찾아 이 산 저 산 기웃거리며 풀이란 풀은 모두 마음껏 뜯는다.
- 들소가 어찌하여 네 일을 거들어주며, 네 구유 옆에서 밤을 새우겠느냐?
- 네가 그것을 잡아 굴레를 씌워 밭갈이를 시킬 수 있겠느냐? 네 뒤를 따라 골짜기를 갈게 할 수 있느냐?

- Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
- He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
- The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
- Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
- Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

- 그것의 억센 힘을 믿고 네 힘든 일을 그에게 맡길 수 있겠느냐?
- 그것이 밭의 소출을 싣고 타작 마당으로 돌아와 주리라고 믿을 수 있느냐?
- 털이 빠진 날개를 펴고 어쩔 줄 모르며 좋아하는 타조를 보아라.
- 땅에 알을 낳아놓고는 땅의 온기만 받도록 버려두지 않느냐?
- 밟히건 말건 아랑곳하지 않고 들짐승이 깨뜨리건 말건 걱정도 하지 않는다.

- Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
- Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?
- Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
- Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
- And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.

- 제 새끼가 아닌 듯이 쪼아대고 낳느라고 고생한 일이 허사가 되는 것쯤 염두에도 없다.
- 이렇게 타조에게서 지혜를 빼앗은 이는 하느님이다. 하느님은 애당초 타조에게 슬기를 나누어주지 않았다.
- 그런데 그것이 한번 날개치며 내달으면 말과 기마병을 한꺼번에 놀려주지 않느냐?
- 네가 말에게 날랜 힘을 주었느냐? 그 목덜미에 휘날리는 갈기를 입혀주었느냐?
- 네가 말을 메뚜기처럼 뛰게 할 수 있느냐? 힝힝하는 그 콧소리에 모두들 두려워한다.

- She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;
- Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
- What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
- Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
- Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.

- 발굽으로 세차게 땅을 파다가 힘을 뻗쳐 내달으면
- 눈썹 하나 까닥하지 않고 무서움쯤은 콧등으로 날려버리며 칼날도 피하지 아니하고 내닫는다.
- 화살통이 신나게 덩그렁거리고 창과 표창이 번뜩이는데
- 아우성치는 함성을 헤치며 땅을 주름잡고 곁눈 한번 팔지 않고 돌진한다.
- 나팔 소리 울려오면 "힝힝" 울고 지휘관들의 고함과 진격 명령만 듣고도 멀리서 풍겨오는 전쟁 냄새를 맡는다.

- He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
- He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
- The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
- He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
- He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

- 매가 너의 충고를 받아 날개를 펴고 남쪽으로 날아가는 줄 아느냐?
- 독수리가 네 명령을 따라 높이 치솟아 아득한 곳에 보금자리를 트는 줄 아느냐?
- 까마득한 벼랑 바위 틈에 보금자리를 틀고 밤을 지내며
- 그 높은 데서 먹이를 찾아 눈을 부릅뜨고 살핀다.
- 피묻은 고기로 새끼를 키우니 주검이 있는 곳에 어찌 독수리가 모이지 않겠느냐?

- Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
- Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
- She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
- From thence she seeketh the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.
- Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
