- 아들들아, 너희는 아비의 훈계를 듣고 슬기를 깨치도록 마음을 모아라.
- 내가 너희에게 전해 주는 교훈은 값진 것이니 이 가르침을 잊지 마라.
- 내가 아버님 슬하에서 어머님께 귀여움을 받던 시절에
- 아버님께서 나에게 가르쳐주시던 말씀이다. "내 말을 명심하고 내 훈계를 지켜라. 그래야 네가 복되게 살리라.
- 지혜를 얻고 슬기를 깨쳐라. 내 입에서 떨어지는 말을 잊지 말고 그 말을 어기지 마라.

- Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
- For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
- For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
- He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
- Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
