- 나는 하느님 앞에서 그리고 산 자와 죽은 자를 심판하실 그리스도 예수 앞에서 그대에게 엄숙히 명령합니다. 그리고 그리스도께서 다시 나타나실 것과 군림하실 것을 믿고 그대에게 당부합니다.
- 하느님의 말씀을 전파하시오. 기회가 좋든지 나쁘든지 꾸준히 전하고 끝까지 참고 가르치면서 사람들을 책망하고 훈계하고 격려하시오.
- 사람들이 건전한 가르침을 듣기 싫어할 때가 올 것입니다. 그 때에 그들은 자기네 귀를 만족시키기 위해서 마음에 맞는 교사들을 끌어들일 것입니다.
- 그리고 진리에는 귀를 기울이지 않고 꾸며낸 이야기에 마음을 팔 것입니다.
- 그러나 그대는 언제나 정신을 차리고 고난을 견디어내며 복음 전하는 일에 힘을 다하여 그대의 사명을 완수하시오.

- I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
- Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
- For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
- And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
- But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

- 내가 처음으로 재판정에 나갔을 때에 한 사람도 나를 도와주지 않고 모두가 버리고 가버렸습니다. 그러나 나를 버리고 간 그들이 엄한 벌을 받지 않게 되기를 바랍니다.
- 주께서는 나와 함께 계시며 나에게 힘을 주셨습니다. 그리하여 나는 하느님의 말씀을 완전히 선포할 수 있었고 그 말씀이 모든 이방인들에게 미치게 되었습니다. 그리고 주께서 나를 사자의 입에서 구해 주셨습니다.
- 앞으로도 나를 모든 악한 자들에게서 건져내어 구원하셔서 당신의 하늘 나라로 인도하여 주실 것입니다. 그분께 영광이 영원 무궁토록 있기를 빕니다. 아멘.
