- 어리석은 여인은 속이 비어 부끄러운 줄도 모르고 수선을 떤다.
- 그는 제 집 문 앞이나 마을 언덕 위에 앉아 제 갈 길 바로 걷는 사람을 불러 말한다.
- "이 숙맥아, 이리 오렴."
- 또 속없는 사람에겐 이렇게 말한다. "훔친 물이 더 달고
- 몰래 먹는 떡이 더 맛있다."

- A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
- For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
- To call passengers who go right on their ways:
- Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
- Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
