- 위에서 말한 요점을 말하면 우리는 하늘에서 전능하신 이의 옥좌 오른편에 앉아 계시는 대사제를 모시고 있다는 것입니다.
- 그분은 하늘 성전의 일을 맡아보시는데 그 성전은 사람이 세운 것이 아니라 주님께서 세우신 참다운 성막입니다.
- 대사제는 누구나 봉헌물과 희생제물을 바치도록 임명된 사람입니다. 그러므로 우리의 이 대사제도 무엇인가 바칠 것을 가지고 있어야 합니다.
- 만일 예수께서 세상에 계시다면 율법을 따라 봉헌물을 바치는 사제들이 따로 있으므로 결코 사제가 되실 수는 없을 것입니다.
- 그 사제들은 하늘 성전의 모조품과 그림자에 지나지 않는 성전에서 봉사하는 사람들입니다. 모세도 천막 성전을 지으려고 할 때에 "산에서 너에게 보여준 그 본을 따라 모든 것을 만들도록 하여라." 하시는 하느님의 말씀을 들었던 것입니다.

- Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
- A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
- For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
- For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
- Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

- 그러나 이제 그리스도께서는 훨씬 더 훌륭한 사제직을 맡으셨습니다. 그분은 더 좋은 약속을 바탕으로 하고 세운 더 좋은 계약의 중재자가 되셨으니 말입니다.
- 만일 사람들이 먼젓번 계약을 흠없이 이행하였더라면 또 다른 계약이 필요하지 않았을 것입니다.
- 그러나 하느님께서는 그들을 탓하시면서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다 "'내가 이스라엘 집안들과 유다 집안들과 더불어 새 계약을 맺을 날이 올 것이다.' 이것은 주님의 말씀이다.
- '이 새 계약은 내가 그들의 조상들의 손을 잡아 이집트 땅에서 인도해 내던 날 그들과 맺은 그런 계약이 아니다. 그들이 내 계약을 지키지 않았으니 나도 그들을 돌보지 않았다.' 이것은 주님의 말씀이다.
- '그 후에 내가 이스라엘 집안과 맺을 계약은 이것이다. 나는 나의 율법을 그들의 생각에 심어주고 그들의 마음에 새겨주리라. 나는 그들의 하느님이 되고 그들은 내 백성이 되리라.' 이것은 주님의 말씀이다.

- But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
- For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
- For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
- Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
- For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

- '높고 낮음을 가릴 것 없이 모든 사람이 나를 알게 될 터이니 아무도 자기 이웃이나 형제를 보고 주님을 알라고 가르쳐주지 않아도 되리라.
- 내가 그들의 잘못을 너그럽게 보아주겠고 그들의 죄를 더 기억하지 않으리라.'"
- 하느님께서 새 계약이라는 말씀을 하심으로써 먼젓번 계약은 낡은 것이 되었습니다. 낡아지고 오래된 것은 곧 사라지게 마련입니다.

- And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
- For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
- In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
