에스겔 18:1-20:9

 이스라엘이 화를 당하는 이유가 조상들에게 있다고 원망하는 백성들에게 하나님께서는 사람이 오직 자신의 행위에 따라 심판받게 된다고 말씀하셨으며, 방백들을 위한 애가를 통해 유다의 멸망을 예언하셨다. 또한 야웨께 묻기 위해 선지자에게 온 이스라엘 장로들을 책망하시며, 과거에 이스라엘이 애굽에서 하나님의 은혜에도 불구하고 우상을 숭배했었다고 말씀하셨다.
  
  심판의 개별성(18:1-18:32)    
 
  1. 야훼께서 나에게 말씀을 내리셨다.
  2. "'아비가 설익은 포도를 먹으면 아이들의 이가 시큼해진다.' 이런 속담이 너희 이스라엘 사람이 사는 땅에 퍼져 있으니 어찌 된 일이냐?
  3. 주 야훼가 말한다. 내가 무슨 일이 있어도 다시는 너희 이스라엘에서 이런 속담을 말하지 못하게 하리라.
  4. 사람의 목숨은 다 나에게 딸렸다. 아들의 목숨도 아비의 목숨처럼 나에게 딸렸다. 그러므로 죄지은 장본인 외에는 아무도 죽을 까닭이 없다.
  5. 어떤 사람이 옳게 살아서 죄가 없다고 하자.
  1. The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
  2. What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
  3. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
  4. Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
  5. But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
  1. 산 위에서 젯밥을 먹지 않았고 이스라엘 족속이 섬겨온 우상들에게 눈을 돌리지도 않았으며 남의 아내를 범하지도 않았고 월경 중인 아내를 가까이하지도 않았다고 하자.
  2. 또 남을 억울하게 하지도 않았고 담보로 받은 것은 돌려주었으며 남의 것을 빼앗는 일도 없었고 굶주린 자에게 먹을 것을 주었으며 헐벗은 사람에게 입을 옷을 주었다고 하자.
  3. 또 물건을 세놓지도 않았고 돈놀이도 하지 않았으며 나쁜 일에 손을 대지도 않았고 사람들 사이에 생긴 사건을 공정하게 재판해 주었다고 하자.
  4. 그래서 내가 정해 준 규정대로 살고 내가 세워준 법을 지켜 그대로 하였다고 하자. 그런 사람은 죄가 없는 사람이라, 정녕 살 것이다. 주 야훼가 하는 말이다.
  5. 그러나 만일 그런 사람에게 아들이 있는데 그가 살인 강도가 되어 다음과 같은 잘못을 저질렀다고 하자.
  1. And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
  2. And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
  3. He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
  4. Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
  5. If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
  1. 아비는 그런 짓을 한 가지도 범하지 않았건만 아들은 산에 올라가 젯밥을 먹었고 남의 아내를 범했다고 하자.
  2. 천하고 가난한 사람을 억눌러 착취하였고 담보로 잡은 것을 돌려주지 않았으며 우상들에게 눈을 돌려 내 눈에 역겨운 짓을 했다고 하자.
  3. 또 물건을 세놓았고 돈놀이를 했다고 하자. 이런 온갖 역겨운 짓을 하고는 결코 살 수 없다. 그런 자는 자기의 죄를 쓰고 죽을 수밖에 없다.
  4. 그런데 그런 자에게서 태어난 아들이라도, 아비가 저지르는 모든 잘못을 보고 두려운 생각이 들어 그대로 따라 하지 않았다고 하자.
  5. 산 위에서 젯밥을 먹지 않았고 이스라엘 족속이 섬겨온 우상들에게 눈을 돌리지도 않았으며 남의 아내를 범하지도 않았다고 하자.
  1. And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
  2. Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
  3. Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
  4. Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
  5. That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
  1. 남을 억울하게 하지도 않았고 담보를 잡거나 착취를 하지도 않았다고 하자. 굶주린 사람에게 먹을 것을 주었고 헐벗은 사람에게 입을 옷을 주었다고 하자.
  2. 나쁜 일에서 손을 떼고 세를 놓거나 돈놀이를 하지도 않았다고 하자. 이렇게 내가 세워준 법을 실천하고 내가 정해 준 규정을 따라 살았다고 하자. 그런 사람은 자기 아비가 나쁜 짓을 했다고 해서 죽지는 않는다. 그런 사람은 정녕 살 것이다.
  3. 너희는 아비가 남을 억압하고 착취하고 겨레 가운데서 못할 짓을 하다가 자기의 죄를 쓰고 죽었는데,
  4. 그 아들이 아비의 죄를 쓰고 벌을 받지 않으니 어찌 된 일이냐고들 한다. 그 아들은 내가 정해 준 규정을 지키고 그대로 바로 살았는데 왜 죽겠느냐?
  5. 죽을 사람은 죄를 지은 장본인이다. 아들이 아비의 죄를 받거나 아비가 아들의 죄를 받거나 하지는 않는다. 바로 살면 바로 산 보수를 받고, 못된 행실을 하면 못된 행실의 보수를 받는다.
  1. Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
  2. That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
  3. As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
  4. Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
  5. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
  1. 그러나 만일 못된 행실을 하던 자라도 제 잘못을 다 버리고 돌아와서 내가 정해 준 규정을 지키고 바로 살기만 하면 그는 죽지 않고 살 것이다.
  2. 나는 그가 거역하며 지은 죄를 다 잊어주리라. 그는 옳게 산 덕분으로 살게 되리라.
  3. 그가 못된 행실을 한 자라고 해서 사람이 죽는 것을 내가 기뻐하겠느냐? 주 야훼가 하는 말이다. 그런 사람이라도 그 가던 길에서 발길을 돌려 살게 되는 것이 어찌 내 기쁨이 되지 않겠느냐?
  4. 그러나 만일 옳게 살던 사람이 그 옳은 길을 떠나 나쁜 일을 하여 나 보기에 역겨운 짓을 하나도 빼놓지 않고 다 따라다니며 한다고 하자. 그가 살 수 있을 것 같으냐! 나는 그가 이전에 옳게 산 것도 알아주지 않으리라. 그는 나를 배신하여 지은 죄를 쓰고 죽을 것이다.
  5. 너희는 이 야훼가 하는 일을 부당하다고 한다마는, 이스라엘 족속아, 들어라. 너희가 하는 일이 부당하지 내가 하는 일이 부당하냐?
  1. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
  2. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
  3. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
  4. But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
  5. Yet ye say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
  1. 옳게 살던 자라도 그 옳은 길을 버리고 악하게 살다가 죽는다면 그것은 자기가 악하게 산 탓으로 죽는 것이다.
  2. 못된 행실을 하다가도 그 못된 행실을 털어버리고 돌아와서 바로 살면 그는 자기 목숨을 건지는 것이다.
  3. 두려운 생각으로, 거역하며 저지르던 모든 죄악을 버리고 돌아오기만 하면 죽지 않고 살리라.
  4. 너희는 내가 하는 일을 부당하다고 한다마는, 이스라엘 족속들아, 너희가 하는 일이 부당하지 내가 하는 일이 부당하냐?
  5. 나는 너희 하나하나를 너희의 행실대로 다스리리라. 주 야훼가 하는 말이다. 이스라엘 족속들아, 너희의 행실을 고쳐라. 거역하며 저지르던 죄악을 모두 버리고 마음을 돌려라. 그래야 올가미에 걸려 망하지 아니할 것이다.
  1. When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
  2. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
  3. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
  4. Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
  5. Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
  1. 거역하며 저지르던 죄악을 다 벗어버리고 새 마음을 먹고 새 뜻을 품어라. 이스라엘 족속들아, 너희가 죽다니 될 말이냐?
  2. 죽을 죄를 지은 사람이라도 사람이 죽는 것은 나의 마음에 언짢다. 주 야훼가 하는 말이다. 살려느냐? 마음을 고쳐라.
  1. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
  2. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.
 
  방백들을 위한 애가(19:1-19:14)    
 
  1. 너는 이스라엘 두 수령의 죽음을 애도하여 이렇게 읊어라.
  2. '그대의 어머니는 어떤 어머니였는가? 수사자들에게 둘러싸인 암사자 아니었는가? 젊은 사자들 틈에 누워 새끼들을 기르지 않았는가?
  3. 그 길러낸 새끼 하나가 젊은 사자 되어 사냥해 찢어 먹는 법을 익혀 사람을 잡아먹더니,
  4. 여러 민족이 함정을 파놓고 몰아치는 바람에 거기에 빠져 코를 꿰어 이집트로 끌려갔네.
  5. 어미 사자는 어이가 없어, 바라던 일이 물거품 된 것을 보고, 새끼 가운데서 또 하나 골라 젊은 사자로 추켜 세웠지.
  1. Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
  2. And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.
  3. And she brought up one of her whelps: it became a young lion, and it learned to catch the prey; it devoured men.
  4. The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt.
  5. Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.
  1. 이놈도 사자들 사이를 드나들며 제법 젊은 사자 행세를 하면서, 사냥해 찢어 먹는 법을 익혀 사람을 잡아먹더니,
  2. 궁전을 짓밟고 도시들을 폐허로 만들며 으르렁대는 소리에 온 나라가 다 벌벌 떨게 하더니,
  3. 여러 민족이 사방에서 모여와 몰아치며 그물을 그 앞에 치니, 함정에 빠져 잡히고 말았네.
  4. 코를 꿰이고 철창에 갇혀 바빌론 임금에게 끌려가 우리에 갇혔네. 다시는 그 소리 이스라엘 산에 울려퍼지지 않게 되었네.
  5. 그대의 어머니는 물가에 심은 포도덩굴 같았지. 물이 많아 햇가지가 무성하여 송이가 소담스러웠고,
  1. And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey, and devoured men.
  2. And he knew their desolate palaces, and he laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, by the noise of his roaring.
  3. Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
  4. And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
  5. Thy mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by the waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.
  1. 세찬 가지를 뻗어 왕의 지팡이가 되었고 어찌나 키가 큰지, 탐스런 가지들 사이에서도 뛰어나고 게다가 잎 또한 무성해서 돋보이더니,
  2. 뙤약볕에 뽑혀 땅에 내동댕이쳐졌네. 열풍이 불어오니 줄기는 말라 꺾였고, 그 세차던 가지도 말라 불에 타버리고 말았네.
  3. 이제 바작바작 타들어가는 메마른 땅, 사막에 옮겨 심었더니,
  4. 그 줄기에서 불이 나 가지도 열매도 삼키고 말았네. 그 세차던 가지도 없어져 왕의 지팡이가 나지 못하게 되었네.'"이것이 상여 소리다. 계속 상여 소리로 불려졌다.
  1. And she had strong rods for the sceptres of them that bare rule, and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she appeared in her height with the multitude of her branches.
  2. But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit: her strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.
  3. And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.
  4. And fire is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
 
  유다의 패역상(20:1-20:9)    
 
  1. 제칠년 오월 십일에 이스라엘 장로 몇 사람이 야훼께 문의하러 와서 내 앞에 앉았는데,
  2. 야훼께서 나에게 말씀을 내리셨다.
  3. "너 사람아, 이스라엘 장로들에게 일러라. '주 야훼께서 말씀하신다.'고 하며 일러주어라. '이들이 나에게 문의하러 오다니! 주 야훼가 말한다. 무슨 일이 있어도 이들의 문의를 받지 않으리라. 주 야훼가 하는 말이다.'
  4. 너 사람아, 네가 이들을 심판하려느냐? 네가 이들의 조상이 저지른 역겨운 짓을 낱낱이 밝혀 심판하려느냐?
  5. '주 야훼께서 말씀하신다.'고 하며 일러주어라. '이스라엘을 택하던 날, 나는 야곱 가문의 후손에게 손을 들고 맹세하였다. 이집트에서 그들에게 나를 알려주었다. 이 야훼가 너희 하느님이라고 손을 들어 선언하였다.
  1. And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.
  2. Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
  3. Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
  4. Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:
  5. And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;
  1. 그들을 이집트에서 구출해 내어 미리 그들을 위해 택해 두었던 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅, 온 세상의 자랑이 되는 곳으로 이끌어들여 주겠다고 나는 그 날 손을 들어 맹세하였다.
  2. 그러면서, 눈을 홀리는 구역질나는 우상을 모두 내던지고 이집트의 우상으로 몸을 더럽히지도 말라고 하였다. 이 야훼가 저희의 하느님이라고 일러두었는데도
  3. 그들은 나에게 반항하여 내 말을 들으려 하지 않았다. 아무도 눈을 홀리는 구역질나는 우상을 내버리지 않았다. 이집트의 우상들을 버리지도 않았다. 그래서 나는 그들에게 진노하여 바로 이집트 한복판에서 화풀이를 하고 싶었다.
  4. 그러나 나는 그들이 살고 있던 그 땅의 민족들이 보는 앞에서 내 이름에 욕이 돌아올까봐 그렇게 할 수는 없었다. 내가 내 백성을 이집트에서 구출해 내겠다고 그 민족들에게 일러두었기 때문이었다.
  1. In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
  2. Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
  3. But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
  4. But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
