- 명예는 많은 재산보다 소중하고 존경받는 것은 금은보다 낫다.
- 늘 상종하는 부자와 가난한 사람, 이들은 모두 야훼께서 지으셨다.
- 영리한 사람은 불길한 일을 보고 피하지만 어리석은 사람은 제 발로 걸어 들어가 화를 입는다.
- 사람이 겸손하여 야훼를 경외하면 재산과 영예와 건강을 누린다.
- 마음이 비뚤어진 사람 앞길에는 가시덤불에 덫이 놓여 있다. 제 목숨을 지키는 사람은 이를 피해 간다.

- A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
- The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
- A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
- By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
- Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

- 세 살 버릇 여든까지 간다. 마땅히 따를 길을 어려서 가르쳐라.
- 가난하면 부자의 지배를 받고, 빚지면 빚쟁이의 종이 된다.
- 악을 심으면 재난을 거두고 홧김에 남을 때리면 그 몽치에 제가 맞는다.
- 남 보살펴 주는 사람, 곧 가난한 사람에게 제 먹을 것을 주는 사람은 복을 받는다.
- 거만한 사람을 내쫓아야 말썽이 없어지고 다툼과 욕설이 그친다.
