- 아, 답답하구나. 여름 과일을 따러 나섰다가, 포도송이를 주우러 나갔다가, 먹을 만한 포도송이 하나 얻지 못하고, 먹고 싶던 맏물 무화과 하나 만나지 못하듯,
- 이 나라에선 하느님의 은덕에 보답하는 사람 만날 수 없고 정직한 사람 하나 찾아볼 수 없구나. 모두가 피에 목말라 숨어서 남을 노리고 저마다 제 겨레를 잡으려고 그물을 친다.
- 몹쓸 일에만 손을 대고 관리들은 값나가는 것 아니면 받지도 않으며, 재판관들은 뇌물을 주어야 재판을 하고 집권자는 멋대로 억울한 선고를 내리는구나.
- 조금 낫다는 것들이 가시덤불 꼴이요, 조금 바르다는 것들이 가시나무 울타리보다 더하구나. 아, 북녘에서 형벌이 떨어져 이제 당장 혼란이 일어나리라.
- 이웃을 믿지 마라. 벗이라고 기대지 마라. 네 품에 안겨 자는 아내라고 말을 함부로 하지 마라.

- Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.
- The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.
- That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.
- The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.
- Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

- 아들이 아비를 우습게 보고 딸이 어미에게 거역하며 며느리가 시어미와 맞서는 세상, 식구끼리 모두 원수가 되었다.
- 그러나 나만은 야훼를 우러르고 하느님께서 구해 주시기를 기다리리라. 나의 하느님께서 내 소원을 들어주시기 바라면서.
- 원수들아, 우리가 이 꼴이 되었다고 좋아하지 마라. 지금은 쓰러졌지만, 일어설 날이 온다. 지금은 어둠 속에서 새우지만, 야훼께서 우리의 빛이 되어주실 날이 온다.
- 우리는 야훼께 죄를 얻었으니, 야훼께서 우리를 법으로 다스리시고 재판을 내리시기까지 그분의 진노를 참고 받아야 한다. 그러다가 마침내 우리에게 밝은 세상을 보이시면, 그제야 우리는 눈이 열려, 여태 해오신 일이 옳았음을 알게 되리라.
- 그제야 원수들도 눈이 열려, "너희 신이라는 야훼가 어디 있느냐?"며 빈정거리던 일을 오히려 부끄럽게 여기리라. 원수들이 길바닥의 진흙같이 되는 꼴을 이 눈으로 보게 되리라.

- For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.
- Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
- Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
- I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
- Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

- 너희가 성을 다시 쌓을 날, 너희의 국토가 넓혀질 그 날이 온다.
- 그 날이 오면, 아시리아에서 이집트까지, 띠로에서 유프라테스 강까지, 이 바다에서 저 바다까지, 이 산에서 저 산에 이르는 곳곳에서 사람들이 너희에게 오리라.
- 국토가 이렇게 황폐해진 것은 도시놈들의 비행 탓이다.
- 이 백성은 남에게 내줄 수 없는 하느님의 양떼입니다. 그 지팡이로 이 백성을 보살펴 주십시오. 주변에 기름진 동산이 많은데도 우거진 숲속을 헤매는 외로운 양떼를 그 옛날처럼 바산과 길르앗에서 풀을 뜯게 해주십시오.
- 이집트에서 나오실 때, 보여주신 놀라운 일을 다시 보여주십시오.

- In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
- In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.
- Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.
- Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
- According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

- 제 힘을 자랑하는 뭇 민족들이 보고 어안이 벙벙하고 기가 막혀서 쥐구멍을 찾게 해주십시오.
- 흙이나 핥는 뱀의 꼴을 만드시고 땅바닥을 기어가는 벌레 신세가 되게 해주십시오. 겁에 질려 저희의 요새에서 나와 부들부들 떨며 우리 하느님 야훼께로 오게 하십시오. 야훼 두려운 줄 알게 해주십시오.
- 하느님 같은 신이 어디 있겠습니까? 남에게 넘겨줄 수 없어 남기신 이 적은 무리, 아무리 못할 짓을 했어도 용서해 주시고, 아무리 거스르는 짓을 했어도 눈감아주시는 하느님, 하느님의 기쁨이야 한결같은 사랑을 베푸시는 일 아니십니까? 그러니 어찌 노여움을 끝내 품고 계시겠습니까?
- 마음을 돌이키시어 우리를 불쌍히 여기시고 우리의 온갖 죄악을 부수어주십시오. 깊은 바다에 쓸어넣어 주십시오.
- 한 옛날 우리 선조들에게 맹세하신 대로 우리 야곱의 후손에게, 우리 아브라함의 후손에게, 거짓 없는 사랑, 한결같은 사랑을 베풀어주십시오.

- The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.
- They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.
- Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
- He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
- Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.
