- 예수께서는 이 말씀을 마치시고 갈릴래아를 떠나 요르단 강 건너편 유다 지방으로 가셨는데
- 사람들이 또 많이 몰려왔으므로 거기서도 병자들을 고쳐주셨다.
- 바리사이파 사람들이 와서 예수의 속을 떠보려고 "무엇이든지 이유가 닿기만 하면 남편이 아내를 버려도 좋습니까?" 하고 물었다.
- 그러자 예수께서는 "처음부터 창조주께서 사람을 남자와 여자로 만드셨다는 것과
- 또 '그러므로 남자는 부모를 떠나 제 아내와 합하여 한 몸을 이루리라.' 하신 말씀을 아직 읽어보지 못하였느냐?

- When Jesus had finished these words, He departed from Galilee and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan;
- and large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there.
- Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?"
- And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE,
- and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'?

- 따라서 그들은 이제 둘이 아니라 한 몸이다. 그러니 하느님께서 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 갈라놓아서는 안 된다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 그들은 다시 "모세는 '아내를 버리려 할 때에는 이혼장을 써주어라.' 했으니 그것은 무슨 까닭입니까?" 하고 물었다.
- 예수께서는 "모세는 너희의 마음이 굳을 대로 굳어져서 아내와 이혼을 해도 좋다고 하였지만 처음부터 그랬던 것은 아니다.
- 나는 이렇게 말한다. 음행한 까닭 외에 아내를 버리고 다른 여자와 결혼하면 간음하는 것이다." 하고 대답하셨다.
- 제자들이 이 말씀을 듣고 예수께 "남편과 아내의 관계가 그런 것이라면 차라리 결혼하지 않는 것이 좋겠습니다." 하였더니

- "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."
- They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?"
- He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.
- "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."
- The disciples said to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry."

- 예수께서 이렇게 대답하셨다. "그것은 아무나 할 수 있는 일이 아니다. 다만 하느님께서 허락하신 사람만이 할 수 있다.
- 처음부터 결혼하지 못할 몸으로 태어난 사람도 있고 사람의 손으로 그렇게 된 사람도 있고 또 하늘 나라를 위하여 스스로 결혼하지 않는 사람도 있다. 이 말을 받아들일 만한 사람은 받아들여라."
- 그 때 사람들이 어린이들을 예수께 데리고 와서 머리에 손을 얹어 기도해 주시기를 청하였다. 제자들이 그들을 나무라자
- 예수께서는 "어린이들이 나에게 오는 것을 막지 말고 그대로 두어라. 하늘 나라는 이런 어린이와 같은 사람들의 것이다." 하고 말씀하셨다.
- 그리고 그들의 머리 위에 손을 얹어 축복해 주시고 나서 그 곳을 떠나셨다.

- But He said to them, "Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.
- "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it."
- Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
- But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
- After laying His hands on them, He departed from there.
