신명기 12:29-14:29

 모세는 우상 숭배에 대해 거듭 경고하며 거짓 선지자와 가족, 친구들의 우상 숭배 유혹에 빠지지 말 것과 우상을 숭배하는 성읍을 멸할 것을 명령했다. 그리고 거룩한 백성이 먹을 수 있는 것과 먹을 수 없는 것을 규정하여 성결한 삶을 살 것과 십일조를 드릴 것을 교훈했다. 아울러 그들과 더불어 사는 레위인과 객과 고아와 과부들을 돌아볼 것을 권면했다.
  
  우상 숭배 금지(12:29-13:18)    
 
  1. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희가 들어가 차지하려는 땅에 사는 민족들을 너희 앞에서 소탕해 주시리니, 너희가 그 땅을 차지하고 그들이 살던 땅에 자리잡게 될 것이다.
  2. 그러나 너희 앞에서 사라진 그들의 흉내를 내다가 올가미에 걸려들지 않도록 명심하여라. '이 민족들이 저희 신들을 어떻게 섬겼을까? 나도 그대로 해보았으면!' 하면서 그들의 신들을 섬기는 일이 없도록 하여라.
  3. 너희 하느님 야훼께 그런 식으로 해드리면 안 된다. 그들이 저희 신들에게 해드리는 일은 한결같이 야훼께서 싫어하시고 역겨워하시는 일이다. 그들은 심지어 제 아들딸마저 불에 살라 자기네 신들에게 바친다.
  1. "When the LORD your God cuts off before you the nations which you are going in to dispossess, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land,
  2. beware that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, 'How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?'
  3. "You shall not behave thus toward the LORD your God, for every abominable act which the LORD hates they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
  4. "Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.
 
 
  1. 내가 너희에게 명령하는 이 모든 것을 너희는 성심껏 실천하여야 한다. 거기에 한마디도 보태지 못하고 빼지도 못한다.
  2. 예언자라는 사람이나 꿈으로 점친다는 사람이 너희 가운데 나타나 표적과 기적을 해보인다고 장담하고
  3. 그 장담한 표적과 기적이 그대로 이루어진다고 하더라도, 너희가 일찍이 알지도 못하고 섬겨본 일도 없는 다른 신들을 따르자고 하거든,
  4. 그 예언자나 꿈으로 점치는 사람의 말을 듣지 마라. 그것은 너희 하느님 야훼께서 과연 너희가 마음을 다 기울이고 정성을 다 쏟아 너희 하느님 야훼를 사랑하는지 시험해 보시려는 것이다.
  5. 너희의 하느님 야훼만 따르고 그분만을 공경하여라. 그의 명령만 지키고 그의 말씀만 들어라. 그분만 섬기고 그에게만 충성을 바쳐라.
  1. "If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,
  2. and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,'
  3. you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
  4. "You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.
  5. "But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk So you shall purge the evil from among you.
  1. 그런 예언자나 꿈으로 점치는 사람은 죽여야 한다. 그는 너희를 꾀어 너희로 하여금 이집트 땅에서 구출해 주신 너희 하느님 야훼께 등을 돌리게 하는 자이다. 그 종살이하던 집에서 너희를 해방시켜 주신 이에게서 발길을 돌리게 하는 자이다. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희에게 가라고 분부하신 길에서 벗어나게 하는 자이다. 너희는 이런 독소를 너희 가운데서 송두리째 뽑아버려야 한다.
  2. 이복 형제, 동복 형제 가릴 것 없이 너희 어느 형제나, 아들이나 딸이나, 너희 품에 안긴 아내나 너희가 목숨처럼 아끼는 벗들 가운데서 누군가가 너희와 너희 조상이 일찍이 알지 못한 다른 신들을 섬기러 가자고 가만히 꾀는 경우가 있을 것이다.
  3. 땅의 이 끝에서 저 끝까지, 너희의 주변에 멀리 또는 가까이 있는 백성들이 자기네의 신들을 섬기자고 하더라도,
  4. 그 말에 귀를 기울이지 마라. 그 말을 듣지 마라. 그런 사람을 애처롭게 보지도 말고 가엾게 생각하지도 마라. 감싸줄 생각도 하지 말고
  5. 반드시 죽여야 한다. 죽일 때에는 네가 맨 먼저 쳐야 한다. 그러면 온 백성이 뒤따라 칠 것이다.
  1. "If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, 'Let us go and serve other gods' (whom neither you nor your fathers have known,
  2. of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end),
  3. you shall not yield to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.
  4. "But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
  5. "So you shall stone him to death because he has sought to seduce you from the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
  1. 돌로 쳐죽여라. 그는 너희를 이집트 땅, 종살이하던 집에서 건져내 주신 너희 하느님 야훼와 버성기게 하려고 꾀는 자이니 그대로 두어서는 안 된다.
  2. 온 이스라엘이 그 말을 듣고 두려워할 것이다. 그리하여 이런 나쁜 짓을 하는 자들이 너희 가운데 다시는 없게 하여야 한다.
  3. 너희 하느님 야훼께서 너희에게 살라고 주시는 성읍들 가운데 어느 한 군데서라도 이런 소문이 나돌 것이다.
  4. 너희 가운데 패륜아들이 나타나 너희가 일찍이 알지 못했던 다른 신들을 섬기러 가자고 선동한다는 소문이 나돌 것이다.
  5. 그런 소문이 나돌거든 너희는 샅샅이 조사해 보고 잘 심문해 보아 그것이 사실임이 드러나면 그같이 역겨운 일을 너희 가운데서 뿌리뽑아야 한다.
  1. "Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such a wicked thing among you.
  2. "If you hear in one of your cities, which the LORD your God is giving you to live in, anyone saying that
  3. some worthless men have gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, 'Let us go and serve other gods' (whom you have not known),
  4. then you shall investigate and search out and inquire thoroughly. If it is true and the matter established that this abomination has been done among you,
  5. you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying it and all that is in it and its cattle with the edge of the sword.
  1. 그 성읍에 사는 주민을 칼로 쳐죽여야 한다. 그 성읍과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 말끔히 없애버려야 한다. 거기에 있는 가축도 칼로 쳐죽이고
  2. 모든 전리품을 장터에 모아놓고 그 전리품과 함께 온 성읍을 불살라 너희 하느님 야훼께 바쳐야 한다. 그리고 언제까지나 폐허로 남겨두고 다시 세우지 마라.
  3. 너는 이런 부정한 것들을 건사해 두지 않도록 하여라. 그래야 야훼께서 노여움을 푸시고 너희에게 자비를 베풀어주실 것이다. 너희 선조들에게 맹세하신 대로 자비를 베푸시어 너희를 번성하게 해주실 것이다.
  1. "Then you shall gather all its booty into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its booty with fire as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God; and it shall be a ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt.
  2. "Nothing from that which is put under the ban shall cling to your hand, in order that the LORD may turn from His burning anger and show mercy to you, and have compassion on you and make you increase, just as He has sworn to your fathers,
  3. if you will listen to the voice of the LORD your God, keeping all His commandments which I am commanding you today, and doing what is right in the sight of the LORD your God.
 
  정한 것과 부정한 것(14:1-14:29)    
 
  1. 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼의 자녀이다. 사람이 죽었다고 해서 몸에 상처를 내거나 앞머리를 밀지 마라.
  2. 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼께 몸바친 거룩한 백성이다. 야훼께서는 땅 위에 있는 만백성 가운데서 너희를 골라 당신의 소중한 백성으로 삼으셨다.
  3. 너희는 하느님께서 역겨워하시는 것은 무엇이든지 먹지 마라.
  4. 너희가 먹을 수 있는 짐승은 이런 것들이다. 소, 양, 염소,
  5. 사슴, 노루, 꽃사슴, 들염소, 들소, 들양, 산염소 같은
  1. "You are the sons of the LORD your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.
  2. "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
  3. "You shall not eat any detestable thing.
  4. "These are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,
  5. the deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.
  1. 굽이 두 쪽으로 갈라지고 새김질하는 짐승이면 먹을 수 있다.
  2. 그러나 새김질하는 짐승이나 굽이 갈라진 짐승이라도 다음과 같은 것은 먹지 못한다. 낙타, 토끼, 사반은 새김질은 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았으므로 부정한 것들이다.
  3. 돼지는 굽은 갈라졌으나 새김질을 하지 아니하므로 부정한 것이다. 이런 것들의 고기는 먹지 못할 뿐 아니라 그 주검을 건드려도 안 된다.
  4. 물에 사는 것 가운데 너희가 먹을 수 있는 것은 이런 것들이다. 지느러미가 있고 비늘이 있는 것은 먹을 수 있다.
  5. 지느러미도 없고 비늘도 없는 것은 먹지 못한다. 그것은 부정한 것이다.
  1. "Any animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.
  2. "Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.
  3. "The pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.
  4. "These you may eat of all that are in water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,
  5. but anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
  1. 정한 새는 어떤 것이든지 먹을 수 있지만
  2. 다음과 같은 새는 먹지 못한다. 독수리, 수염수리, 흰꼬리수리,
  3. 검은소리개, 각종 붉은소리개,
  4. 각종 까마귀,
  5. 타조, 올빼미, 갈매기, 각종 매,
  1. "You may eat any clean bird.
  2. "But these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,
  3. and the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,
  4. and every raven in its kind,
  5. and the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,
  1. 부엉이, 따오기, 백조,
  2. 사다새, 흰독수리, 가마우지,
  3. 고니, 각종 푸른해오라기, 오디새, 박쥐 등이다.
  4. 날개 돋힌 벌레도 부정한 것이니 먹으면 안 된다.
  5. 정한 날벌레는 먹을 수 있다.
  1. the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,
  2. the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,
  3. the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.
  4. "And all the teeming life with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.
  5. "You may eat any clean bird.
  1. 무릇 저절로 죽은 것은 먹지 못한다. 그런 것은 너희가 사는 성 안에 머무는 떠돌이들에게나 먹으라고 주든지 외국인에게 팔든지 하여라. 너희는 너희 하느님 야훼께 몸 바친 거룩한 백성이 아니냐? 너희는 염소 새끼를 제 어미의 젖으로 삶지 마라.
  2. 너희는 해마다 씨를 뿌려 밭에서 거둔 소출 가운데 그 십분의 일을 떼어두었다가
  3. 그 곡식과 술과 기름의 십일조를 소와 양의 맏배와 함께 가져다가 너희 하느님 야훼께서 당신의 이름을 두시려고 고르신 곳에서 그를 모시고 먹어야 한다. 그럼으로써 너는 너희 하느님 야훼를 길이 공경해야 할 줄을 깨닫게 될 것이다.
  4. 너희가 너희 하느님 야훼께 복을 받았는데, 너희 하느님 야훼께서 당신의 이름을 두시려고 고르신 곳이 너희가 있는 곳에서 너무 멀어 그것을 가지고 그 먼 길을 갈 수가 없을 경우에는
  5. 그것을 돈으로 바꿔 그 돈을 몸에 지니고 너희 하느님 야훼께서 택하신 곳으로 가서
  1. "You shall not eat anything which dies of itself You may give it to the alien who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the LORD your God You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.
  2. "You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year.
  3. "You shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
  4. "If the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the LORD your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the LORD your God blesses you,
  5. then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the LORD your God chooses.
  1. 그 돈으로 너희가 원하는 것을 사서 먹으며 즐겨라. 소, 양, 포도주, 술, 무엇이든지 먹고 싶은 것을 사서 너희 하느님 야훼를 모시고 너희와 너희 온 집안이 먹으며 즐겨라.
  2. 너희가 사는 성 안에 있는 레위인을 저버리지 않도록 하여라. 그들은 너희가 받은 유산을 함께 받지 못한 사람들이다.
  3. 너희는 삼 년마다 한 번씩 그 해에 난 소출의 십일조를 다 내놓아 성안에 저장해 두었다가
  4. 너희가 사는 성 안에 있는 레위인, 떠돌이, 고아, 과부들이 와서 배불리 먹게 하여라. 그래야 너희가 손으로 하는 모든 일에 너희 하느님 야훼께서 복을 내리실 것이다. 레위인은 너희가 받은 유산을 함께 받지 못한 사람들이다.
  1. "You may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.
  2. "Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.
  3. "At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.
  4. "The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
