- 그 뒤에 예수께서는 유다인들이 자기를 죽이려고 했으므로 유다 지방으로는 다니고 싶지 않아서 갈릴래아 지방을 찾아다니셨다.
- 그런데 유다인들의 명절인 초막절이 가까워지자
- 예수의 형제들이 예수께 "이 곳을 떠나 유다로 가서 당신이 행하시는 그 훌륭한 일들을 제자들에게 보이십시오.
- 널리 알려지려면 숨어서 일해서는 안 됩니다. 이런 훌륭한 일들을 할 바에는 자신을 세상에 드러내는 것이 좋겠습니다." 하고 권하였다.
- 이렇듯 예수의 형제들조차도 그분을 믿지 않았던 것이다.

- After these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.
- Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.
- Therefore His brothers said to Him, "Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.
- "For no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world."
- For not even His brothers were believing in Him.

- 그래서 예수께서는 그들에게 이렇게 대답하셨다. "너희에게는 아무 때나 상관없지만 나의 때는 아직 오지 않았다.
- 세상이 너희는 미워할 수 없지만 나는 미워하고 있다. 세상이 하는 짓이 악해서 내가 그것을 들추어내기 때문이다.
- 너희는 어서 올라가서 명절을 지내라. 아직 나의 때가 되지 않았으니 나는 이번 명절에는 올라가지 않겠다."
- 예수께서는 형제들에게 이렇게 말씀하시고 계속하여 갈릴래아에 머무르셨다.
- 형제들이 명절을 지내러 올라가고 난 뒤에 예수께서도 남의 눈에 띄지 않게 올라가셨다.

- So Jesus said to them, "My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.
- "The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.
- "Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has not yet fully come."
- Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.
- But when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.

- 명절 동안에 유다인들은 "예수가 어디 있느냐?" 하고 물으며 찾아다녔다.
- 그리고 군중 사이에서는 예수를 두고 이러쿵저러쿵 말들이 많았다. "그는 좋은 분이오." 하는 사람이 있는가 하면, "아니오, 그는 군중을 속이고 있소." 하는 사람도 있었다.
- 그러나 유다인들이 두려워서 예수에 관하여 내놓고 말하는 사람은 하나도 없었다.
- 명절 중간쯤 해서 예수께서는 성전으로 올라가 가르치기 시작하셨다.
- 유다인들은 "저 사람은 배우지도 않았는데 어떻게 저렇듯 아는 것이 많을까?" 하고 기이하게 여겼다.

- So the Jews were seeking Him at the feast and were saying, "Where is He?"
- There was much grumbling among the crowds concerning Him; some were saying, "He is a good man"; others were saying, "No, on the contrary, He leads the people astray."
- Yet no one was speaking openly of Him for fear of the Jews.
- But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.
- The Jews then were astonished, saying, "How has this man become learned, having never been educated?"

- 예수께서는 그들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "내가 가르치는 것은 내 것이 아니라 나를 보내신 분의 가르침이다.
- 하느님의 뜻을 실천하려는 사람이면 이것이 하느님으로부터 나온 가르침인지 또는 내 생각에서 나온 가르침인지를 알 것이다.
- 제 생각대로 말하는 사람은 자기 영광을 구하는 사람이다. 그러나 자기를 보내신 분의 영광을 위해서 힘쓰는 사람은 정직하며 그 속에 거짓이 없다.
- 너희에게 율법을 제정해 준 이는 모세가 아니냐? 그런데도 너희 가운데 그 법을 지키는 사람은 하나도 없다. 도대체 너희는 어찌하여 나를 죽이려 하느냐?"
- 군중들은 "당신이 미치지 않았소? 누가 당신을 죽이려 한단 말이오?" 하였다.

- So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
- "If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.
- "He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
- "Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?"
- The crowd answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill You?"

- 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "내가 안식일에 일을 한 가지 했다고 하여 너희는 모두 놀라고 있다.
- 모세가 할례법을 명령했다 하여 너희는 안식일에도 사내아이들에게 할례를 베풀고 있다.- 사실 할례법은 모세가 정한 것이 아니라 옛 선조에게서 비롯된 것이다.-
- 너희는 이렇게 모세의 율법을 어기지 않으려고 안식일에도 할례를 베풀면서 내가 안식일에 사람 하나를 온전히 고쳐주었다고 하여 그렇게 화를 내는 것이냐?
- 겉모양을 보고 판단하지 말고 공정하게 판단하여라."

- Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel.
- "For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
- "If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?
- "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."
