열왕기상

  본서는 솔로몬의 통치와 분열 왕국 이후의 초기 약 80여 년 간의 역사를 통하여, 선민 이스라엘의 흥망 성쇠는 하나님의 말씀에 대한 백성들과 왕들의 순종과 불순종에 있음을 보여 주고 있다.

  1장부터 11장까지는 솔로몬의 행적을 기록하고 있는데, 특히 그의 지혜와 성전 건축과 아울러 이방 왕비들로 말미암아 우상을 숭배하여 이스라엘 왕국을 분열시킨 행적이 언급되어 있다. 12장부터 22장까지는 통일 왕국 이스라엘의 분열 경위를 기록한 후, 분열된 북이스라엘과 남유다의 정치적, 영적 타락 사건들을 보여 주고 있다. 특히, 바알 종교를 숭배한 북이스라엘 왕국의 왕 아합과 선지자 엘리야의 사역이 주로 전개되고 있다.

 

 

열왕기상 1:1-1:53

 다윗이 늙자 아도니야는 왕위를 찬탈하려고 음모를 꾸몄다. 이를 미리 안 나단은 밧세바를 통해 다윗에게 사건의 진상을 알리고 하나님의 뜻을 상기시킴으로써 아도니야의 음모를 수포로 돌아가게 하였다. 이로써 솔로몬이 다윗을 이어 이스라엘의 왕으로 등극하였다.
  
  아도니야의 음모(1:1-1:31)    
 
  1. 다윗 왕이 나이 많아, 아무리 이불을 덮어도 몸이 덥지 않게 되었다.
  2. 신하들이 그에게 아뢰었다. "나이 어린 처녀 하나를 구하여 임금님의 시중을 들고 모시게 하면 어떻겠습니까? 임금님께서 품에 안고 주무시면 옥체가 훈훈해지실 것입니다."
  3. 신하들은 허락을 받고 아리따운 처녀를 찾아 이스라엘 전국을 누볐다. 그들은 수넴 여자 아비삭이라는 처녀를 구해 왕에게 데려왔다.
  4. 그 처녀는 매우 아리따웠다. 그가 왕을 모시고 시중을 들게 되었지만, 왕은 그와 몸을 섞지 않았다.
  5. 한편 하낏의 아들 아도니야가 왕이 될 속셈으로 자기가 탈 병거와 말을 준비하였고 호위병 오십 명을 사병으로 두었다.
  1. Now King David was old, advanced in age; and they covered him with clothes, but he could not keep warm.
  2. So his servants said to him, "Let them seek a young virgin for my lord the king, and let her attend the king and become his nurse; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm."
  3. So they searched for a beautiful girl throughout all the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
  4. The girl was very beautiful; and she became the king's nurse and served him, but the king did not cohabit with her.
  5. Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king " So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen with fifty men to run before him.
  1. 그의 아버지는 한 번도 아들에게 "네가 어찌하여 그런 일을 하느냐?" 하고 참견하지 않았다. 아도니야는 매우 잘생긴데다가 압살롬과는 어머니가 다른 형제로서 압살롬의 바로 아래 동생이었다.
  2. 그는 스루야의 아들 요압, 사제 에비아달과 함께 모의를 했는데 그들은 아도니야를 동조해 따랐다.
  3. 그러나 사제 사독, 여호야다의 아들 브나야, 예언자 나단, 그리고 다윗의 용사들인 시므이와 레이는 아도니야 편에 가담하지 않았다.
  4. 아도니야는 자기의 형제들, 왕자들, 유다의 모든 왕궁 관리들을 엔로겔 샘터 곁에 있는 조헬렛 바위에 초대해 놓고 양과 소와 살진 송아지를 잡아 제사를 드렸다.
  5. 그러나 예언자 나단과 브나야와 용사들 그리고 자기의 동생인 솔로몬은 초대하지 않았다.
  1. His father had never crossed him at any time by asking, "Why have you done so?" And he was also a very handsome man, and he was born after Absalom.
  2. He had conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and following Adonijah they helped him.
  3. But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
  4. Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants.
  5. But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, and Solomon his brother.
  1. 그 때, 나단이 솔로몬의 어머니 바쎄바에게 알렸다. "우리의 주 다윗 임금님께서도 모르는 사이에 하낏의 아들 아도니야가 왕이 된다는데 그 소식을 듣지 못하셨습니까?
  2. 이제 당신의 목숨뿐 아니라 당신의 아들 솔로몬의 목숨을 구하시려면 내 말대로 하십시오.
  3. 당장 임금님께 들어가시어 이렇게 고하십시오. '임금님, 임금님께서는 일찍이 이 계집종에게 이 몸에서 난 아들 솔로몬이 임금님의 뒤를 이어 다스리며 왕위에 앉을 것이라고 맹세하시지 않으셨습니까? 그런데 어찌하여 아도니야가 왕이 되었습니까?'
  4. 당신께서 임금님께 이렇게 말을 하고 있으면 나도 뒤따라 들어가 그 말씀을 두둔해 드리겠습니다."
  5. 이렇게 하여 바쎄바는 침전으로 왕을 찾아갔다. 그 때 왕은 매우 늙어 수넴 여자 아비삭의 시중을 받고 있었다.
  1. Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king, and David our lord does not know it?
  2. "So now come, please let me give you counsel and save your life and the life of your son Solomon.
  3. "Go at once to King David and say to him, 'Have you not, my lord, O king, sworn to your maidservant, saying, "Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne"? Why then has Adonijah become king?'
  4. "Behold, while you are still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and confirm your words."
  5. So Bathsheba went in to the king in the bedroom. Now the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king.
  1. 바쎄바가 엎드려 왕에게 절을 하자 왕이 물었다. "무슨 일로 오셨소?"
  2. 왕비가 대답하였다. "임금님, 임금님께서는 임금님을 도우시는 하느님 야훼를 두고 일찍이 이 계집종에게 맹세하셨습니다. 이 몸에서 난 솔로몬이 임금님을 이어 다스리고 왕위에 앉을 것이라고 맹세하셨습니다.
  3. 그런데 지금 아도니야가 왕이 되었는데도 임금님께서는 모르고 계십니다.
  4. 그는 왕자들 전부와 사제 에비아달, 그리고 군사령관 요압을 초대해 놓고 소와 살진 송아지와 양을 많이 잡아 제사를 드렸습니다. 그러나 임금님의 종 솔로몬은 부르지 않았습니다.
  5. 임금님, 온 이스라엘이 주시하고 있습니다. 누구를 지명하시어 임금님의 뒤를 잇는 왕이 되게 하시겠습니까? 말씀해 주십시오.
  1. Then Bathsheba bowed and prostrated herself before the king. And the king said, "What do you wish?"
  2. She said to him, "My lord, you swore to your maidservant by the LORD your God, saying, 'Surely your son Solomon shall be king after me and he shall sit on my throne.'
  3. "Now, behold, Adonijah is king; and now, my lord the king, you do not know it.
  4. "He has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king and Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.
  5. "As for you now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
  1. 만일 지명하시지 않으신다면 임금님께서 조상에게로 돌아가시는 날 소첩과 소첩의 자식 솔로몬은 역적으로 몰리게 될 것입니다."

  1. "Otherwise it will come about, as soon as my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered offenders."
  2. Behold, while she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
  3. They told the king, saying, "Here is Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground.
  4. Then Nathan said, "My lord the king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne'?
  5. "For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons and the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking before him; and they say, 'Long live King Adonijah!'
  1. 그러나 그는 임금님의 종인 저와 사제 사독, 여호야다의 아들 브나야 그리고 임금님의 종인 솔로몬은 부르지 않았습니다.
  2. 임금님께서는 아직 저희 신하들에게 누가 임금님의 뒤를 이어 왕좌에 오를 것인지 말씀하지 않으셨습니다. 과연 이런 일이 임금님의 뜻에 따른 일이옵니까?"
  3. 그러자 다윗 왕은 바쎄바를 부르라고 명령하였다. 바쎄바가 왕 앞에 나와 서자
  4. 왕이 맹세하며 말하였다. "어려운 일을 당할 때마다 나의 목숨을 살려내신 야훼를 두고 맹세하오.
  5. 내가 일찍이 이스라엘의 하느님 야훼를 두고 그대에게, 그대의 몸에서 난 아들 솔로몬이 내 뒤를 이어 다스리고 나의 왕좌에 앉으리라고 한 맹세를 오늘 그대로 시행하리다."
  1. "But me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and your servant Solomon, he has not invited.
  2. "Has this thing been done by my lord the king, and you have not shown to your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
  3. Then King David said, "Call Bathsheba to me." And she came into the king's presence and stood before the king.
  4. The king vowed and said, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress,
  5. surely as I vowed to you by the LORD the God of Israel, saying, 'Your son Solomon shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place'; I will indeed do so this day."
  1. 바쎄바는 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드려 왕에게 절하며 아뢰었다. "나의 주 다윗 임금님, 만수무강하옵소서."
  1. Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and prostrated herself before the king and said, "May my lord King David live forever."
 
  솔로몬의 등극(1:32-1:53)    
 
  1. 다윗 왕이 사제 사독, 예언자 나단, 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 들게 하라고 명하였다. 그들이 왕 앞에 나오자
  2. 왕이 명령을 내렸다. "그대들은 내 신하들을 거느리고 나의 아들 솔로몬을 내 노새에 태워 기혼으로 내려들 가시오.
  3. 거기에서 사독 사제와 나단 예언자는 그를 이스라엘의 왕으로 기름 부어 세우시오. 그런 다음 나팔을 불며 '솔로몬 왕 만세!'를 외치시오.
  4. 그리고 올 때에는 그를 모시고 따라오시오. 그가 와서 내 왕좌에 앉을 것이오. 나를 대신하여 왕이 되는 것이오. 내가 그를 이스라엘과 유다의 통치자로 임명하였소."
  5. 여호야다의 아들 브나야가 왕에게 대답하였다. "지당하신 말씀입니다. 내 주 임금님의 하느님 야훼께서도 그렇게 뜻하시옵기를 빕니다.
  1. Then King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." And they came into the king's presence.
  2. The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and have my son Solomon ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
  3. "Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, and blow the trumpet and say, 'Long live King Solomon!'
  4. "Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne and be king in my place; for I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah."
  5. Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, "Amen! Thus may the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say.
  1. 야훼께서 내 주 임금님과 함께 계셨듯이 솔로몬과도 함께 계시고, 그리하여 그의 치세가 내 주 다윗 임금님의 치세보다 더 빛나게 하시옵기를 빕니다."
  2. 이리하여 사제 사독, 예언자 나단, 여호야다의 아들 브나야, 그렛 사람들, 벨렛 사람들이 내려가 솔로몬을 다윗 왕의 노새에 태워 기혼으로 데리고 갔다.
  3. 거기에서 사제 사독이 기름 담은 뿔을 장막에서 꺼내어 솔로몬에게 기름을 부었다. 그런 뒤, 그들이 나팔을 불자 전국민이 "솔로몬 왕 만세!"를 외쳤다.
  4. 모든 백성이 그의 뒤를 따라 피리를 불며 올라가는데, 온통 기쁨의 도가니가 되어 술렁거리는 소리에 세상이 떠나갈 지경이었다.
  5. 아도니야와 그의 손들은 향연을 마치려 하다가 이 소리를 들었다. 요압이 나팔 소리를 듣고는 "성 안에서 나는 저 소란한 소리가 대체 무슨 소리냐?" 하고 물었다.
  1. "As the LORD has been with my lord the king, so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David!"
  2. So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
  3. Zadok the priest then took the horn of oil from the tent and anointed Solomon Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, "Long live King Solomon!"
  4. All the people went up after him, and the people were playing on flutes and rejoicing with great joy, so that the earth shook at their noise.
  5. Now Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "Why is the city making such an uproar?"
  1. 그가 말을 채 끝마치기도 전에 사제 에비아달의 아들 요나단이 들이닥쳤다. 아도니야가 그를 맞았다. "어서 들어오게, 좋은 사람이니 좋은 소식을 가져왔겠지."
  2. 요나단이 아도니야에게 말하였다. "아닙니다. 우리 주 다윗 왕께서 솔로몬을 임금으로 세우셨습니다.
  3. 왕께서 사독 사제, 나단 예언자, 여호야다의 아들 브나야, 그렛 사람들, 벨렛 사람들을 솔로몬과 함께 보내셨는데 그들은 솔로몬을 왕의 노새에 태웠습니다.
  4. 그리고 사독 사제와 나단 예언자는 기혼에서 그에게 기름을 부어 왕으로 세웠습니다. 거기에서 사람들이 흥겹게 떠들며 올라가는 바람에 성 안이 떠들썩한 것입니다. 여러분께서 들으시는 소리가 바로 그 소리입니다.
  5. 솔로몬이 왕위에 앉았고
  1. While he was still speaking, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came Then Adonijah said, "Come in, for you are a valiant man and bring good news."
  2. But Jonathan replied to Adonijah, "No! Our lord King David has made Solomon king.
  3. "The king has also sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the Cherethites, and the Pelethites; and they have made him ride on the king's mule.
  4. "Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon, and they have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise which you have heard.
  5. "Besides, Solomon has even taken his seat on the throne of the kingdom.
  1. 더구나 왕의 신하들이 우리 주 다윗 왕께 와서 축하하여 말하기를, '임금님의 하느님께서 임금님보다 솔로몬을 더 이름나게 하시고 임금님의 치세보다 그의 치세를 더 빛나게 하시옵기를 빕니다.' 하였습니다. 그러자 왕께서도 친히 침상에서 절을 하시며
  2. 이렇게 이르셨습니다. '이스라엘의 하느님 야훼께서 이 날 내 자식을 나의 왕좌에 앉히시고 또 이 눈으로 그것을 보게 하셨으니, 그 은혜 망극하구나.'"
  3. 그러자 아도니야의 손들은 모두 떨면서 일어나 각기 제 갈 길로 가버렸다.
  4. 아도니야도 솔로몬을 두려워한 나머지 일어나 달려가 제단의 뿔을 움켜잡았다.
  5. 그러자 사람들이 솔로몬에게 말하였다. "보십시오. 아도니야가 임금님을 무서워하고 있습니다. 그가 제단 뿔을 움켜잡고는 '솔로몬 왕께서 소인을 칼로 쳐죽이지 않겠다고 맹세해 주십시오.' 하고 있습니다."
  1. "Moreover, the king's servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name and his throne greater than your throne!' And the king bowed himself on the bed.
  2. "The king has also said thus, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has granted one to sit on my throne today while my own eyes see it.'"
  3. Then all the guests of Adonijah were terrified; and they arose and each went on his way.
  4. And Adonijah was afraid of Solomon, and he arose, went and took hold of the horns of the altar.
  5. Now it was told Solomon, saying, "Behold, Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon, for behold, he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.'"
  1. 솔로몬이 명령을 내렸다. "만일 그가 사내답게 처신한다면 머리카락 하나 땅에 떨어질 까닭이 없다. 그러나 불측한 마음을 품은 것이 드러나면 마땅히 죽으리라."
  2. 그리고는 사람을 보내어 그를 제단에서 끌어내리게 하였다. 솔로몬 왕은 그가 자기에게 와서 경의를 표하자 그를 집으로 돌려보냈다.
  1. Solomon said, "If he is a worthy man, not one of his hairs will fall to the ground; but if wickedness is found in him, he will die."
  2. So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and prostrated himself before King Solomon, and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."
