사도행전 18:24-19:22

 3차 전도 여행을 시작한 바울은 마술과 우상이 가득한 에베소에서 성령 세례를 베풀고, 담대히 하나님 나라에 대해 강론하며, 마술사들을 회개시키는 등 성공적인 복음 사역을 하였다.
  
  에베소에서의 사역(18:24-19:22)    
 
  1. 한편 에페소에는 아폴로라는 유다인이 와 있었는데 그는 알렉산드리아 출신으로 구변이 좋고 성서에 정통한 사람이었다.
  2. 그는 요한의 세례밖에 알지 못했으나 이미 주님의 가르침을 배워 잘 알고 있을 뿐 아니라 열성을 다하여 전도하며, 예수에 관한 일들을 정확하게 가르치고 있었다.
  3. 그가 회당에서 담대하게 전도하는 것을 들은 브리스킬라와 아퀼라는 그를 집으로 데리고 가서 하느님의 가르침을 더 자세히 설명해 주었다.
  4. 에페소의 교우들은 아폴로가 아카이아로 건너가고 싶어하는 것을 알고 그를 격려하며 아카이아의 신도들에게 그를 환영해 달라는 편지를 써 보냈다. 아폴로는 아카이아에 도착하여 이미 하느님의 은총으로 신도가 된 사람들에게 큰 도움을 주었다.
  5. 그가 성서를 근거로 하여 예수가 그리스도임을 떳떳하게 증명하여 유다인들을 여지없이 논박했기 때문이다.
  1. Now a Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by birth, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus; and he was mighty in the Scriptures.
  2. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, being acquainted only with the baptism of John;
  3. and he began to speak out boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
  4. And when he wanted to go across to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him; and when he had arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace,
  5. for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, demonstrating by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
 
 
  1. 아폴로가 고린토에 머물러 있는 동안 바울로는 북부 지방을 거쳐 에페소에 이르렀다. 거기에서 몇몇 신도들을 만나
  2. "당신들이 신도가 되었을 때 성령을 받았습니까?" 하고 물어보았다. 그랬더니 그들은 "우리는 성령이라는 것이 있다는 말조차 들어보지 못하였습니다." 하고 대답하였다.
  3. 바울로가 "그러면 당신들은 어떤 세례를 받았습니까?" 하고 다시 묻자 그들은 "요한의 세례를 받았습니다." 하고 대답하였다.
  4. 이 때 바울로는 다음과 같이 일러주었다. "요한은 사람들에게 죄를 회개한 표시로 세례를 베풀었습니다. 그러나 요한은 자기 뒤에 오실 분 곧 예수를 믿으라고 사람들에게 가르쳤던 것입니다."
  5. 그들은 이 말을 듣고 주 예수의 이름으로 세례를 받았다.
  1. It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples.
  2. He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit."
  3. And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism."
  4. Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
  5. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
  1. 바울로가 그들에게 손을 얹자 성령께서 그들에게 내리셨다. 그러자 그들은 이상한 언어로 말을 하고 예언을 하기 시작하였다.
  2. 이렇게 성령을 받은 사람들은 모두 열두 사람쯤 되었다.
  3. 바울로는 석 달 동안 회당을 드나들며 대담하게 증언하고 하느님 나라에 관하여 토론도 하고 알아듣도록 설명도 해주었다.
  4. 그러나 어떤 사람들은 오히려 마음이 더 굳어져서 믿으려 하지 않고 바울로가 전하는 그리스도교를 회중 앞에서 비난하였다. 그래서 바울로는 그들과 손을 끊고 신도들을 데리고 나가 디란노 학원에서 날마다 토론을 벌였다.
  5. 이렇게 두 해를 계속하는 동안에 아시아에 사는 사람들은 유다인이나 이방인이나 할 것 없이 모두 주님의 말씀을 듣게 되었다.
  1. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.
  2. There were in all about twelve men.
  3. And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God.
  4. But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.
  5. This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
  1. 하느님께서는 바울로를 시켜 놀라운 기적들을 행하셨는데
  2. 바울로의 몸에 닿았던 수건이나 앞치마를 병자에게 대기만 해도 병이 낫고 악령들이 쫓겨 나갔다.
  3. 그런데 마귀를 쫓아낸다고 떠돌아다니는 몇몇 유다인들까지도 마귀 들린 사람들을 향해서 "바울로가 전하는 예수의 이름으로 명령한다." 하면서 주 예수의 이름을 불러 마귀를 쫓아내려고 해보았다.
  4. 스큐아라는 유다인 대사제의 아들 일곱 형제도 이런 일을 하고 있었다.
  5. 그 때 마귀 들린 사람이 "나는 예수도 알고 바울로도 잘 아는데 도대체 너희들은 누구냐?" 하면서
  1. God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul,
  2. so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.
  3. But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches."
  4. Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
  5. And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"
  1. 덤벼들어 그들을 모조리 때려눕혔다. 그들은 상처투성이가 되어 알몸으로 그 집에서 도망쳤다.
  2. 이 소문이 에페소에 사는 모든 유다인과 이방인들에게 퍼지자 그들은 모두 두려워하며 주 예수의 이름을 찬양하였다.
  3. 그리고 많은 신도들이 와서 자기들이 한 일을 숨김없이 자백하였다.
  4. 또 많은 마술쟁이들은 마술책을 모두 가지고 나와 모든 사람들 앞에서 불살라 버렸다. 그 책은 값으로 치면 은화로 오만 냥어치나 되었다.
  5. 이리하여 주의 말씀은 줄기차게 퍼져 나가고 점점 더 세력을 떨쳤다.
  1. And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
  2. This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified.
  3. Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices.
  4. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
  5. So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.
  1. 이런 일이 있은 뒤에 바울로는 마케도니아와 아카이아 지방을 거쳐 예루살렘에 돌아가기로 작정하였다. 그리고 "내가 거기에 갔다가 로마에도 가봐야겠다." 하고 혼잣말을 하였다.
  2. 그래서 그는 자기 협조자 중에서 디모테오와 에라스도 두 사람을 마케도니아로 앞서 보내고 자기는 얼마 동안 아시아에 더 눌러 있었다.
  1. Now after these things were finished, Paul purposed in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem after he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, saying, "After I have been there, I must also see Rome."
  2. And having sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.
