- 예루살렘에 있는 성도들에게 보낼 구제금에 관하여는 여러분에게 달리 써 보내지 않아도 될 줄 압니다.
- 나는 여러분이 이 일에 얼마나 열성적인지 잘 알고 있습니다. 그래서 여러분이 그 사업을 작년부터 아카이아 지방에서 준비해 왔다는 것을 마케도니아 사람들에게 자랑까지 했습니다. 그랬더니 많은 사람들이 여러분의 열성을 보고 분발했습니다.
- 내가 이 일에 관해서 여러분을 자랑해 온 것이 빈말이 아니라는 것을 보이려고 이제 형제들을 보내니 아무쪼록 내가 말한 대로 준비를 갖추어두기 바랍니다.
- 그렇지 않고 만일 마케도니아 사람들이 나와 함께 그리로 가서 여러분이 준비가 되어 있지 않은 것을 보게 된다면 여러분이 부끄러울 것은 말할 것도 없고 그렇게도 자신만만했던 우리가 큰 창피를 당하게 될 것입니다.
- 그래서 나는 그 형제들에게 당부해서 나보다 먼저 여러분에게 가서 전에 여러분이 약속했던 그 구제금을 미리 거두어놓게 해야겠다고 생각했습니다. 이것은 여러분의 구제금이 억지로 거두어지지 않고 자진해서 바치는 희사가 되게 하려는 것입니다.

- For it is superfluous for me to write to you about this ministry to the saints;
- for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the Macedonians, namely, that Achaia has been prepared since last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them.
- But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, as I was saying, you may be prepared;
- otherwise if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we--not to speak of you--will be put to shame by this confidence.
- So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised bountiful gift, so that the same would be ready as a bountiful gift and not affected by covetousness.

- 적게 뿌리는 사람은 적게 거두고 많이 뿌리는 사람은 많이 거둡니다. 이 점을 기억하십시오.
- 각각 마음에서 우러나는 대로 내야지 아까워하면서 내거나 마지못해 내는 일은 없어야 합니다. 하느님께서는 기쁜 마음으로 내는 사람을 사랑하십니다.
- 하느님께서는 여러분에게 모든 은총을 충분히 주실 수 있는 능력을 가지고 계십니다. 그래서 여러분은 언제나 모든 것을 넉넉하게 가질 수 있고 온갖 좋은 일을 얼마든지 행할 수 있을 것입니다.
- 성서에도, "그분은 가난한 이들에게 후히 뿌려주시고 그분의 자비는 영원히 계속되리라."는 말씀이 있지 않습니까?
- 뿌릴 씨와 먹을 빵을 농부에게 마련해 주시는 하느님께서는 여러분에게도 뿌릴 씨를 마련해 주시고 그것을 몇 갑절로 늘려주셔서 열매를 풍성히 맺게 해주십니다. 그것은 여러분이 뿌린 자선의 열매입니다.

- Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
- Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
- as it is written, "HE SCATTERED ABROAD, HE GAVE TO THE POOR, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER."
- Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;

- 이리하여 여러분은 언제나 부요하게 되어 아낌없이 남을 도울 수 있게 될 것이며 우리를 통해서 그 선물이 전달될 때 많은 사람이 하느님께 감사를 드리게 될 것입니다.
- 이와 같이 여러분이 애써 거두는 의연금은 성도들의 가난을 덜어 줄 뿐만 아니라 많은 사람들로 하여금 하느님께 무한한 감사를 드리게 할 것입니다.
- 여러분의 의연금은 여러분이 그리스도의 복음을 믿고 순종한다는 것과 예루살렘의 성도들과 그 밖의 모든 사람을 아낌없이 돕는다는 증거가 되어 그들이 하느님을 찬양하게 될 것입니다.
- 그들은 또한 여러분에게 주신 하느님의 넘치는 은총을 보고 여러분을 그리워하며 여러분을 위하여 기도할 것입니다.
- 말로 다 할 수 없는 선물을 주시는 하느님께 감사합니다.

- you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
- For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.
- Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,
- while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.
- Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
