- 아모쓰의 아들 이사야가 바빌론의 앞날을 내다보고 한 선언이다.
- 벗어진 산 위에 깃발을 세워라. 소리질러 군대를 소집하여라. 손을 흔들어 바빌론의 귀족문으로 그들을 불러들여라.
- 나는 분노가 치밀어 휘하 정병에게 명령한다. 나의 용사, 나의 자랑스러운 투사들을 부른다.
- 이 산 저 산에서 웅성대는 소리를 들어라. 많은 사람이 모인 것 같다. 나라들이 떠드는 소리를 들어라. 여러 민족이 모였다. 만군의 야훼께서 군대를 사열하신다.
- 그들은 먼 땅, 하늘 끝에서 온 땅을 잿더미로 만들려고 야훼의 징벌의 채찍이 되어 야훼와 함께 온다.

- Lift up a standard on the bare hill, Raise your voice to them, Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles.
- I have commanded My consecrated ones, I have even called My mighty warriors, My proudly exulting ones, To execute My anger.
- A sound of tumult on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound of the uproar of kingdoms, Of nations gathered together! The LORD of hosts is mustering the army for battle.
- They are coming from a far country, From the farthest horizons, The LORD and His instruments of indignation, To destroy the whole land.

- 너희는 통곡하여라. 야훼의 날이 다가온다. 전능하신 이께서 너희를 파멸시키시러 오신다.
- 그리하여 모든 손의 맥이 다 풀리고 사람들의 마음은 모두 겁에 질려,
- 그 허둥대고 창자가 뒤틀려 괴로워하는 품이 해산하는 여인과도 같구나. 서로 눈이 휘둥그래져서 쳐다볼 뿐 얼굴만 달아오르는구나.
- 아, 몸서리쳐지는 야훼의 날이 온다. "격분과 분노가 치밀어 나는 땅을 잿더미로 만들고 죄인들을 불살라 버리리라.
- 하늘의 별들과 삼성성좌는 빛을 잃고 해는 떠도 침침하고 달 또한 밝게 비치지 아니하리라.

- Wail, for the day of the LORD is near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.
- Therefore all hands will fall limp, And every man's heart will melt.
- They will be terrified, Pains and anguish will take hold of them; They will writhe like a woman in labor, They will look at one another in astonishment, Their faces aflame.
- Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, Cruel, with fury and burning anger, To make the land a desolation; And He will exterminate its sinners from it.
- For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not flash forth their light; The sun will be dark when it rises And the moon will not shed its light.

- 내가 악한 세상을 벌하고 악인들의 죄악을 벌하리라. 잘난 체하는 자들의 자랑을 꺾고 우쭐거리는 폭군들을 끌어내리리라.
- 인간을 순금보다도 적게 사람을 오빌의 금보다도 드물게 하리라.
- 내가 하늘을 흔들면 땅이 진동하여 제자리에서 밀려나리라." 그 날은 만군의 야훼께서 노여우시어 당신의 분노를 터뜨리시는 날,
- 그들은 쫓기는 사슴처럼 목자 없는 양떼처럼 뿔뿔이 제 겨레에게로 돌아가고 제 고장으로 달아나다가
- 눈에 띄는 대로 찔려 죽고 잡히는 대로 칼에 맞아 쓰러지리라.

- Thus I will punish the world for its evil And the wicked for their iniquity; I will also put an end to the arrogance of the proud And abase the haughtiness of the ruthless.
- I will make mortal man scarcer than pure gold And mankind than the gold of Ophir.
- Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth will be shaken from its place At the fury of the LORD of hosts In the day of His burning anger.
- And it will be that like a hunted gazelle, Or like sheep with none to gather them, They will each turn to his own people, And each one flee to his own land.
- Anyone who is found will be thrust through, And anyone who is captured will fall by the sword.

- 그들의 어린것들은 눈앞에서 박살이 나고 집은 털리고 아내는 겁탈을 당하리라.
- "이제 나는 메대 사람을 부추겨 그들을 치게 하리라. 메대 사람들은 은 같은 것엔 아예 관심도 없고 금 같은 것은 탐내지도 않는 자들이다.
- 사내아이들을 갈기갈기 찢고 계집아이들을 박살내는 자들, 갓난아기도 불쌍히 여기지 아니하고 어린아이도 측은히 보지 않는 자들이다.
- 나라들 가운데서도 진주 같은 바빌론, 갈대아 사람들의 자랑과 영광인 바빌론이 하느님의 손에 망한 소돔과 고모라같이 되리라.
- 영원히 무인지경이 되어 대를 이어 그 곳에서 살 사람이 없으리라. 아랍 사람들도 천막을 치러 오지 않고 목자들도 풀을 뜯기러 양떼를 몰고 오는 일이 없으리라.

- And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans' pride, Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
- It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation; Nor will the Arab pitch his tent there, Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.

- 들짐승들이 뒹굴고 사람 살던 집에서 부엉이가 우글거리며 타조들이 깃들이고 들귀신들이 춤추는 곳이 되리라.
- 이리가 텅 빈 저택에서 부르면 화려하던 궁궐에서 승냥이의 소리가 메아리쳐 오리라. 그 때가 다가온다. 그 날은 결코 연기되지 않는다."

- But desert creatures will lie down there, And their houses will be full of owls; Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there.
- Hyenas will howl in their fortified towers And jackals in their luxurious palaces. Her fateful time also will soon come And her days will not be prolonged.
