예레미야 15:1-16:21

 하나님께서는 유다가 파멸될 것임을 선언하시고, 그 때까지 예레미야에게 사명을 감당할 수 있는 힘을 주시고 악인들의 손에서 건져 주실 것을 약속하셨다. 또한 예레미야의 생활을 통해 유다의 심판에 대해 상징적으로 보여 주셨으며, 유다 백성이 징계를 받아 장차 이방 땅에서 이방 신을 섬기게 되지만 때가 되면 다시 회복시킬 것도 아울러 약속하셨다.
  
  탄식과 위로(15:1-15:21)    
 
  1. 야훼께서 나에게 대답하셨다. "비록 모세나 사무엘이 내 앞에 서서 빌더라도, 나는 이 백성을 불쌍히 여기지 않으리라. 이 백성을 내 앞에서 쫓아내어라!
  2. '어디로 가야 하느냐?'고 묻거든 '야훼의 말씀이다.' 하고 이렇게 일러주어라. '어디로 가든지 염병으로 죽을 자는 염병에 걸리고 칼에 맞아 죽을 자는 칼에 맞고 굶어 죽을 자는 굶고 사로잡혀 갈 자는 사로잡히리라.'
  3. 나는 네 가지 재앙을 내려서 이 백성을 벌하겠다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 나는 이 백성을 칼에 맞아 죽게 하고 개들을 시켜 끌어가게 하고 공중의 새들을 시켜 쪼아먹게 하고 야수들을 시켜 먹어 없애게 하겠다.
  4. 이렇게 하면 세상 만국은 보고 놀랄 것이다. 내가 이렇게 벌하는 것은 히즈키야의 아들 므나쎄가 유다 임금으로서 예루살렘에서 지은 죄 때문이다."
  5. "예루살렘아, 너를 가엾게 보아줄 이가 어디 있느냐? 너를 위로해 줄 이가 어디 있느냐? 지나가다가 발길을 멈추고 너에게 안부라도 물을 이가 어디 있느냐?
  1. Then the LORD said to me, "Even though Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people; send them away from My presence and let them go!
  2. "And it shall be that when they say to you, 'Where should we go?' then you are to tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Those destined for death, to death; And those destined for the sword, to the sword; And those destined for famine, to famine; And those destined for captivity, to captivity."'
  3. "I will appoint over them four kinds of doom," declares the LORD: "the sword to slay, the dogs to drag off, and the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth to devour and destroy.
  4. "I will make them an object of horror among all the kingdoms of the earth because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, the king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.
  5. "Indeed, who will have pity on you, O Jerusalem, Or who will mourn for you, Or who will turn aside to ask about your welfare?
  1. 너는 나를 우습게 여겼다. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 너는 등을 돌리고 나를 떠나갔다가 내 손에 맞아 죽게 되었다. 너를 불쌍히 보아주는 것도 나는 이제 싫증이 났다.
  2. 온 나라 성문 앞에서 내 백성을 키질하여 날려버리리니, 모두 자식을 잃고 망하리라. 멋대로 가던 길을 버리고 돌아서지 않다가 그 신세가 되고 말리라.
  3. 내가 대낮에 침략군을 끌어들이리니, 팔팔한 젊은 군인들이 맞아 죽어 과부가 바닷가 모래알보다 많아지리라. 모두들 겁이 나서 갈팡질팡하도록 갑자기 덮치리라.
  4. 아들 일곱을 둔 어미가 아들을 모두 잃고 졸도하리라. 태양같이 믿던 아들을 어이없이 잃고 고개를 못들게 되어 실성하리라. 그러고도 살아 남은 자는 원수의 칼에 맞아 죽으리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다."
  5. "아아, 어머니! 왜 나를 낳으셨습니까? 온 나라 사람이 다 나에게 시비를 걸고 싸움을 걸어옵니다. 나는 아무에게도 빚진 일이 없고 빚을 준 일도 없는데, 사람마다 이 몸을 저주합니다.
  1. "You who have forsaken Me," declares the LORD, "You keep going backward So I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of relenting!
  2. "I will winnow them with a winnowing fork At the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy My people; They did not repent of their ways.
  3. "Their widows will be more numerous before Me Than the sand of the seas; I will bring against them, against the mother of a young man, A destroyer at noonday; I will suddenly bring down on her Anguish and dismay.
  4. "She who bore seven sons pines away; Her breathing is labored Her sun has set while it was yet day; She has been shamed and humiliated So I will give over their survivors to the sword Before their enemies," declares the LORD.
  5. Woe to me, my mother, that you have borne me As a man of strife and a man of contention to all the land! I have not lent, nor have men lent money to me, Yet everyone curses me.
  1. 야훼여, 이 백성이 복받도록 제가 주님을 진심으로 섬기지 않았습니까? 이 백성이 원수를 만났을 때나 재앙을 만나 고생할 때, 대신 기도를 드리지 않았습니까? 그러지 않았다면, 저주를 받아도 좋습니다."
  2. 사람이 쇠를 부술 수야 없지 않느냐? 북에서 가져온 쇠나 놋쇠를 부술 수야 없지 않느냐?
  3. "이 나라 구석구석에서 지은 온갖 죄를 나는 벌하리라. 그리하면 너희는 재물과 보화를 다 털리고
  4. 낯선 고장에 끌려가 원수들에게 붙어 종살이하게 될 것이다. 나의 분노는 불처럼 타올라 오래오래 꺼지지 않으리라."
  5. "야훼여, 주께서는 저를 아시지 않습니까? 저를 잊지 마시고 도와주십시오. 저를 못살게 구는 자들에게 원수를 갚아주십시오. 언제까지나 모르는 체하시다가 이 몸 죽는 모양을 보시렵니까? 제가 주님 때문에 수모를 받고 있는 줄을 알아주십시오.
  1. The LORD said, "Surely I will set you free for purposes of good; Surely I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you In a time of disaster and a time of distress.
  2. "Can anyone smash iron, Iron from the north, or bronze?
  3. "Your wealth and your treasures I will give for booty without cost, Even for all your sins And within all your borders.
  4. "Then I will cause your enemies to bring it Into a land you do not know; For a fire has been kindled in My anger, It will burn upon you."
  5. You who know, O LORD, Remember me, take notice of me, And take vengeance for me on my persecutors Do not, in view of Your patience, take me away; Know that for Your sake I endure reproach.
  1. 말씀 내리시는 대로 저는 받아 삼켰습니다. 만군의 야훼 하느님, 이 몸을 주님의 것이라 불러주셨기에 주님의 말씀이 그렇게도 기쁘고 마음에 흐뭇하기만 하였습니다.
  2. 저는 웃으며 깔깔대는 자들과 한자리에 어울리지도 않았습니다. 주님 손에 잡힌 몸으로 이렇게 울화가 치밀어올라 홀로 앉아 있습니다.
  3. 이 괴로움은 왜 끝이 없습니까? 마음의 상처는 나을 것 같지 않습니다. 주께서는 물이 마르다가도 흐르고, 흐르다가도 마르는 도무지 믿을 수 없는 도랑같이 되셨습니다."
  4. "그렇다면 이 야훼의 말을 들어보아라. 너의 마음을 돌려잡아라. 나는 다시 너를 내 앞에 서게 하여주겠다. 그런 시시한 말은 그만두고 말 같은 말을 하여라. 나는 너를 나의 대변자로 세운다. 백성이 너에게로 돌아와야지 네가 백성에게로 돌아가서는 안 된다.
  5. 내가 너를 그런 놋쇠로 든든하게 만든 성벽처럼 세우리니, 이 백성이 아무리 달려들어도 너를 꺾지 못하리라. 나는 너를 떠나지 않을 것이며 너를 도와 구하여 주리라. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다.
  1. Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.
  2. I did not sit in the circle of merrymakers, Nor did I exult Because of Your hand upon me I sat alone, For You filled me with indignation.
  3. Why has my pain been perpetual And my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will You indeed be to me like a deceptive stream With water that is unreliable?
  4. Therefore, thus says the LORD, "If you return, then I will restore you-- Before Me you will stand; And if you extract the precious from the worthless, You will become My spokesman. They for their part may turn to you, But as for you, you must not turn to them.
  5. "Then I will make you to this people A fortified wall of bronze; And though they fight against you, They will not prevail over you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you," declares the LORD.
  1. 나는 너를 악인들의 손에서 구하여 주며 악한들의 손아귀에서 빼내 주리라."
  1. "So I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you from the grasp of the violent."
 
  재앙과 회복(16:1-16:21)    
 
  1. 야훼의 말씀이 나에게 내렸다.
  2. "너는 이 곳에서 장가들 생각을 마라. 아들딸을 둘 생각을 마라.
  3. 이 곳에서 태어나는 아들딸과 어미 아비가 모두 어찌 될 것인지를 이 야훼가 일러주겠다.
  4. 사람들은 참혹하게 병들어 죽겠지만, 상례를 갖추어 묻어줄 사람이 없어 거름처럼 땅 위에 뒹굴리라. 칼에 맞아 죽거나 굶어 죽은 사람의 시체는 공중의 새와 들짐승의 밥이 되리라.
  5. 나 야훼가 이르는 말이다. 너는 초상집에 가지 마라. 가서 곡하지도 마라. 위로해 주지도 마라. 내 말이니 잘 들어라. 나는 이제 이 백성이 누리던 평화를 거두리라. 사랑하여 주지도 않을 것이며 불쌍히 여기지도 않을 것이다.
  1. The word of the LORD also came to me saying,
  2. "You shall not take a wife for yourself nor have sons or daughters in this place."
  3. For thus says the LORD concerning the sons and daughters born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bear them, and their fathers who beget them in this land:
  4. "They will die of deadly diseases, they will not be lamented or buried; they will be as dung on the surface of the ground and come to an end by sword and famine, and their carcasses will become food for the birds of the sky and for the beasts of the earth."
  5. For thus says the LORD, "Do not enter a house of mourning, or go to lament or to console them; for I have withdrawn My peace from this people," declares the LORD, "My lovingkindness and compassion.
  1. 이 나라 사람은 높은 사람 낮은 사람 할 것 없이 죽어도 묻히지 못하고 상례도 받지 못하리라. 몸에 상처를 내고 머리를 깎고 울어주는 사람이 없으리라.
  2. 상을 입은 사람을 위로하는 뜻으로 같이 먹고 같이 술잔을 나누는 사람도 없으리라. 친상을 입은 사람까지도 위로해 줄 사람이 없으리라.
  3. 너는 잔칫집에 가서 먹고 마실 생각을 마라.
  4. 이스라엘의 하느님 만군의 야훼가 말한다. 나는 이 나라에서 기뻐 즐거워하는 신랑 신부의 모습을 너희 당대에 사라지게 하리라. 기뻐 흥청대는 소리를 다시는 들을 수 없게 하리라.
  5. 이 백성에게 가서 이 말을 그대로 전하면 그들은 이렇게 물을 것이다. '우리가 우리 하느님 야훼께 무슨 죄를 짓고 무슨 잘못을 저질렀다고, 이렇게 큰 재앙을 내리시겠다는 것이냐?'
  1. "Both great men and small will die in this land; they will not be buried, they will not be lamented, nor will anyone gash himself or shave his head for them.
  2. "Men will not break bread in mourning for them, to comfort anyone for the dead, nor give them a cup of consolation to drink for anyone's father or mother.
  3. "Moreover you shall not go into a house of feasting to sit with them to eat and drink."
  4. For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Behold, I am going to eliminate from this place, before your eyes and in your time, the voice of rejoicing and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride.
  5. "Now when you tell this people all these words, they will say to you, 'For what reason has the LORD declared all this great calamity against us? And what is our iniquity, or what is our sin which we have committed against the LORD our God?'
  1. 이렇게 묻거든 나 야훼가 그러더라고 하며 말해 주어라. '너희 조상들은 나를 저버리고 다른 신들을 따라가 섬기며 예배하였다. 내가 똑똑히 말하여 둔다. 너희 조상은 나를 저버리고 내가 내린 법을 지키지 않았다.
  2. 그러나 너희가 하는 짓은 너희 조상들보다도 더 나쁘다. 너희는 내 말을 듣지 않고 제 악한 생각에만 끌려 멋대로 살고 있다.
  3. 나는 너희를 이 땅에서 내쫓아 선조 때부터 알지도 못하던 땅으로 가게 하리라. 너희는 거기에 가서 곱게 보아주지도 않을 신들을 밤낮으로 섬기게 되리라.'
  4. 그러므로 장차 이런 날이 올 것이다. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 그 날이 오면, 이스라엘 백성은 맹세할 때에 자기들을 이집트에서 데려내온 야훼를 불러 맹세하지 않고,
  5. 쫓겨갔던 북녘 땅과 그 밖의 모든 나라에서 데려온 이 야훼를 불러 맹세하게 될 것이다. 나는 이 백성을 그 조상들에게 주었던 땅으로 되돌아오게 하고야 말리라.
  1. "Then you are to say to them, 'It is because your forefathers have forsaken Me,' declares the LORD, 'and have followed other gods and served them and bowed down to them; but Me they have forsaken and have not kept My law.
  2. 'You too have done evil, even more than your forefathers; for behold, you are each one walking according to the stubbornness of his own evil heart, without listening to Me.
  3. 'So I will hurl you out of this land into the land which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers; and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will grant you no favor.'
  4. "Therefore behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when it will no longer be said, 'As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,'
  5. but, 'As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of the north and from all the countries where He had banished them.' For I will restore them to their own land which I gave to their fathers.
  1. 똑똑히 말해둔다. 이제 나는 많은 어부들을 들여보내어 이 백성을 고기처럼 낚게 하겠다. 그런 다음 많은 사냥꾼을 들여보내어 산과 언덕과 바위 틈을 샅샅이 뒤져 이 백성을 짐승처럼 잡겠다.
  2. 이 백성이 어떤 일을 하든지 내 눈앞에서 벗어날 수 없고 내 눈을 피할 수 없다. 그 잘못을 내 앞에서 숨길 수 없다.
  3. 숨도 못 쉬는 우상을 섬기어 내 땅을 더럽힌 죄, 내 소유지를 역겨운 우상으로 채운 잘못을 나는 갑절로 갚으리라."
  4. "나의 힘, 나의 요새가 되시는 야훼여, 난리를 만났을 때 피난처가 되어주시는 이여, 온 세상 구석구석에서 뭇 민족이 주께 와, 아뢸 것입니다. '우리가 조상 적부터 모시던 것은 아무데도 쓸모없는 엉터리 허수아비였습니다.
  5. 사람이 어찌 신을 만들 수 있겠습니까? 사람이 만든 것이 어찌 신이 되겠습니까?'"
  1. "Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen," declares the LORD, "and they will fish for them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill and from the clefts of the rocks.
  2. "For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity concealed from My eyes.
  3. "I will first doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable idols and with their abominations."
  4. O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, And my refuge in the day of distress, To You the nations will come From the ends of the earth and say, "Our fathers have inherited nothing but falsehood, Futility and things of no profit."
  5. Can man make gods for himself? Yet they are not gods!
  1. "그렇다면 이번에는 내가 가르쳐주겠다. 내 힘이 얼마나 큰가를, 똑똑히 가르쳐주겠다. 그제야 참 신의 이름이 야훼인 줄 알 것이다.
  1. "Therefore behold, I am going to make them know-- This time I will make them know My power and My might; And they shall know that My name is the LORD."
 
  속이는 시내( 15:18)  비가 오면 물줄기를 이루다가 이내 사라지고 마는 와디 현상으로, 중동 지역에서 흔히 볼 수 있다  
  망탄(妄誕, 16:19)  어리석고 허무한 것
