예레미야 17:1-18:23

 하나님께서는 물가의 푸른 나무와 어리석은 자고새의 비유를 통해, 하나님을 떠나 멸망받게 된 유다 백성들의 구원자가 오직 하나님뿐임을 깨우쳐 주셨다. 예레미야는 하나님을 의뢰하는 실천적 교훈으로 안식일 성수를 촉구하였다. 또한 토기장이의 비유를 통해 하나님의 절대 주권을 증거하고 돌이킬 수 없는 심판을 예고하면서 회개를 촉구하였다. 그러나 완악한 백성들이 자신을 치려 하자, 그는 하나님께 그들에 대한 징계를 호소했다.
  
  유다의 죄와 심판(17:1-18:17)    
 
  1. 유다의 죄는 정으로 새겨져 있다. 뾰족한 차돌로 사람들의 가슴에 새겨져 있다. 제단 뿔마다 새겨져 있어
  2. 후손들의 거울이 되리라. 높은 언덕 위, 무성한 나무 옆에 제단을 쌓고 거기에 목상을 세워 섬겼던 것이다.
  3. 너희가 가서 사는 곳은 어디든지 죄뿐이어서 내가 벌을 내리면 나의 산은 적에게 짓밟혀 재물과 보화를 털릴 것이다.
  4. 나에게서 받은 유산을 빼앗기고 낯선 땅에 가서 원수들을 섬기게 되리라. 나의 분노는 불처럼 타올라 오래오래 꺼지지 않으리라.
  5. 야훼가 하는 말이다. 나에게서 마음이 멀어져 사람을 믿는 자들, 사람이 힘이 되어주려니 하고 믿는 자들은 천벌을 받으리라.
  1. The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus; With a diamond point it is engraved upon the tablet of their heart And on the horns of their altars,
  2. As they remember their children, So they remember their altars and their Asherim By green trees on the high hills.
  3. O mountain of Mine in the countryside, I will give over your wealth and all your treasures for booty, Your high places for sin throughout your borders.
  4. And you will, even of yourself, let go of your inheritance That I gave you; And I will make you serve your enemies In the land which you do not know; For you have kindled a fire in My anger Which will burn forever.
  5. Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD.
  1. 벌판에 자라난 덤불과 같아, 좋은 일 하나 볼 수 없으리라. 소금쩍이 일어나서 아무것도 자라지 않고 뙤약볕만이 내려 쬐는 사막에서 살리라.
  2. 그러나 나를 믿고 의지하는 사람은 복을 받으리라.
  3. 물가에 심은 나무처럼, 개울가로 뿌리를 뻗어 아무리 볕이 따가워도 두려워하지 않고 잎사귀는 무성하며 아무리 가물어도 걱정 없이 줄곧 열매를 맺으리라.
  4. 사람의 마음은 천길 물 속이라, 아무도 알 수 없지만
  5. 이 야훼만은 그 마음을 꿰뚫어 보고 뱃속까지 환히 들여다본다. 그래서 누구나 그 행실을 따라 그 소행대로 갚아주리라.
  1. "For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.
  2. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD.
  3. "For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
  4. "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?
  5. "I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.
  1. 부정으로 축재하는 사람은 남이 낳은 알을 품는 자고새와 같아, 반생도 못 살아 재산을 털어먹고 결국은 미련한 자로서 생을 마치리라."
  2. "한 처음에 높이 자리잡으신 빛나는 옥좌 있는 곳 그 곳이 우리의 성소입니다.
  3. 이스라엘의 희망은 야훼께 있습니다. 주님을 저버리고 어느 누가 부끄러운 꼴을 당하지 않겠습니까? 맑은 물이 솟는 샘 야훼를 저버리고 어느 누가 땅에 쓴 글씨처럼 지워지지 않겠습니까?
  4. 야훼여, 저를 어루만져 주시어 마음의 상처를 고쳐주십시오. 저를 붙들어 주시어 성한 몸이 되게 하여주십시오. 저는 주님 한 분만을 기립니다.
  5. 이 백성이 저를 비꼬아 말합니다. '야훼가 엄포를 놓더니, 어찌 되었느냐? 그렇게 야단치더니 어디 해보시지!'
  1. "As a partridge that hatches eggs which it has not laid, So is he who makes a fortune, but unjustly; In the midst of his days it will forsake him, And in the end he will be a fool."
  2. A glorious throne on high from the beginning Is the place of our sanctuary.
  3. O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the LORD.
  4. Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; Save me and I will be saved, For You are my praise.
  5. Look, they keep saying to me, "Where is the word of the LORD? Let it come now!"
  1. 제가 이 백성에게 재앙을 내리시라고 재촉이라도 하였습니까? 암담한 날이 오기를 바라기라도 하였습니까? 제가 무엇이라고 아뢰었는지 아시지 않습니까? 분명히 들으시지 않으셨습니까?
  2. 그러니 제발 무섭게 행하시지는 마십시오. 제가 재앙을 당할 때 피난할 곳은 주님이 아니십니까?
  3. 무엇 때문에 제가 창피를 당하여야 합니까? 저를 괴롭히는 자들이나 창피를 당하게 하여주십시오. 저를 혼내주실 것이 아니라 그들이나 혼내주십시오. 다시 한번 그들을 짓밟으시어 무서운 꼴을 보게 하여주십시오."
  4. 야훼께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너는 유다의 임금들이 드나드는 '백성의 문' 뿐 아니라 예루살렘의 다른 모든 성문에 서서,
  5. 그 성문으로 드나드는 유다의 임금들과 온 유다 국민과 예루살렘 시민에게 일러주어라.
  1. But as for me, I have not hurried away from being a shepherd after You, Nor have I longed for the woeful day; You Yourself know that the utterance of my lips Was in Your presence.
  2. Do not be a terror to me; You are my refuge in the day of disaster.
  3. Let those who persecute me be put to shame, but as for me, let me not be put to shame; Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed Bring on them a day of disaster, And crush them with twofold destruction!
  4. Thus the LORD said to me, "Go and stand in the public gate, through which the kings of Judah come in and go out, as well as in all the gates of Jerusalem;
  5. and say to them, 'Listen to the word of the LORD, kings of Judah, and all Judah and all inhabitants of Jerusalem who come in through these gates:
  1. '야훼가 하는 말이다. 너희 목숨을 부지하고 싶거든 안식일에 짐을 가지고 예루살렘 성문으로 들어오지 마라.
  2. 안식일에는 집에서 짐을 내어 가지도 말고, 아무 일도 하지 마라. 내가 너희 조상에게 말한 대로 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜야 한다.
  3. 너희 조상들은 귀를 기울여 들으려 하지 않았으며, 고집이 세어서 순종하지도 않았다. 아예 나의 교훈을 받아들일 생각조차 없었다.
  4. 이제 내가 똑똑히 말해 둔다. 너희만은 내 말을 잘 들어서 안식일에 이 성문으로 짐을 가지고 들어오지 않도록 하여라. 그리고 아무 일도 하지 말고 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜라.
  5. 그래야 다윗의 왕위를 이어받아 병거와 군마를 타고 다닐 임금들과 고관들, 또 유다 백성과 예루살렘 시민이 이 성문들로 들어와 성읍 안에서 길이길이 살게 될 것이다.
  1. 'Thus says the LORD, "Take heed for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.
  2. "You shall not bring a load out of your houses on the sabbath day nor do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers.
  3. "Yet they did not listen or incline their ears, but stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.
  4. "But it will come about, if you listen attentively to Me," declares the LORD, "to bring no load in through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to keep the sabbath day holy by doing no work on it,
  5. then there will come in through the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever.
  1. 유다 여러 성읍과 예루살렘 주변과 베냐민 지방과 야산 지대와 산악 지대와 남쪽 벌에서 사람들이 번제물과 친교제물과 곡식예물과 향료를 가지고 와서 나의 집에서 감사제를 바치게 될 것이다.
  2. 그러나 너희가 안식일을 거룩하게 지키지 않고 내 말을 거역하여 안식일에 짐을 들고 예루살렘 성문으로 들어오면, 예루살렘 성문에 불을 놓아 궁전까지 살라버리겠다. 아무도 그 불을 끄지 못할 것이다.'"
  1. "They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the environs of Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country and from the Negev, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of the LORD.
  2. "But if you do not listen to Me to keep the sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and not be quenched."'"
 
 
  1. 야훼께서 나 예레미야에게 말씀을 내리셨다.
  2. "너는 곧 옹기장이 집으로 내려가거라. 거기에서 너에게 일러줄 말이 있다."
  3. 말씀대로 옹기장이 집에 내려가 보았더니, 옹기장이는 마침 녹로를 돌리며 일을 하고 있었다.
  4. 그런데 옹기장이는 진흙으로 그릇을 빚어내다가 제대로 안 되면 그 흙으로 다른 그릇을 다시 빚는 것이었다.
  5. 마침 야훼의 말씀이 나에게 들려왔다.
  1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,
  2. "Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will announce My words to you."
  3. Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something on the wheel.
  4. But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.
  5. Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,
  1. "진흙이 옹기장이의 손에 달렸듯이 너희 이스라엘 가문이 내 손에 달린 줄 모르느냐? 이스라엘 가문아, 내가 이 옹기장이만큼 너희를 주무르지 못할 것 같으냐? 야훼가 하는 말이다.
  2. 나는 한 민족 한 나라를 뽑아 뒤엎어 없애버리기로 결심하였다가도
  3. 벌하려던 민족이 그 악한 길에서 돌아서기만 하면 내리려던 재앙을 거둔다.
  4. 그렇지만 한 민족 한 나라를 심고 세우기로 결심했다가도,
  5. 그 민족이 나의 말을 듣지 않고 나의 눈에 거슬리는 짓을 하기만 하면, 약속한 복을 집어치운다.
  1. "Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
  2. "At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;
  3. if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.
  4. "Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;
  5. if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.
  1. 그러니 너는 이제 야훼의 말이라 하고 유다 백성과 예루살렘 시민에게 가서 전하여라. '나는 너희에게 내릴 재앙을 옹기장이처럼 마련하여 두었다. 너희를 벌할 계획을 이미 꾸며놓았다. 그러니 모두들 악한 길을 버리고 돌아오너라. 너희 행실과 소행을 뜯어고쳐라.'
  2. 이런 말을 하여주어도 이 백성은 '다 글렀다. 우리는 우리 멋대로 살겠다. 마음 내키는 대로 마구 살겠다.' 하고 대꾸할 것이다.
  3. 이제 나 야훼가 말한다. 어느 민족에게나 가서 물어보아라. 이런 말을 들어본 사람이 있느냐고. 이스라엘의 처녀는 너무나 추잡하게 놀아났다.
  4. 레바논 산꼭대기 바위에서 눈이 사라지는 일이 있느냐? 거기에서 흘러내리는 시원한 물이 마르는 일이 있느냐?
  5. 그런데 내 백성은 나를 잊고 우상 앞에 향을 피웠다. 예전에 걷던 바른 길에서 벗어나 닦지도 않은 험한 길에 들어섰다.
  1. "So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds."'
  2. "But they will say, 'It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'
  3. "Therefore thus says the LORD, 'Ask now among the nations, Who ever heard the like of this? The virgin of Israel Has done a most appalling thing.
  4. 'Does the snow of Lebanon forsake the rock of the open country? Or is the cold flowing water from a foreign land ever snatched away?
  5. 'For My people have forgotten Me, They burn incense to worthless gods And they have stumbled from their ways, From the ancient paths, To walk in bypaths, Not on a highway,
  1. 저희가 사는 땅을 끔찍한 곳으로 만들어 두고두고 조소거리가 되니, 지나는 사람마다 놀라, 머리를 흔들며 비웃으리라.
  2. 나는 사막의 열풍처럼 불어닥쳐 내 백성을 원수들 앞에서 흩뜨리리라. 이 백성이 재난을 당하는 날, 나는 등을 돌려 돌봐주지 않으리라."
  1. To make their land a desolation, An object of perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.
  2. 'Like an east wind I will scatter them Before the enemy; I will show them My back and not My face In the day of their calamity.'"
 
  음모와 기도(18:18-18:23)    
 
  1. "그 말을 듣고 이 백성은 수군거립니다. '예레미야를 없애야겠는데 무슨 좋은 계책이 없을까? 이 사람이 없어도 법을 가르쳐줄 사제가 있고 정책을 세울 현자가 있고 하느님의 말씀을 들려줄 예언자가 있다. 그러니 이자를 그가 한 말로 때려잡자. 이자의 말마디마다 조심하여 듣자.'고 합니다.
  2. 야훼여, 제 말을 잘 들어주십시오. 원수들이 고발하는 저 소리를 들어보십시오.
  3. 이런 배은망덕이 어디 있습니까? 이 목숨을 끊으려고 함정을 팝니다. 제가 당신 앞에 지켜 서서, 이 백성을 잘되게 하여주십사고 아뢰며 분노를 거두어주십사고 아뢰던 일을 잊지 마십시오.
  4. 그런 것들이오니, 아이들은 굶어 죽고 칼에 맞아 죽게 하셔야 하지 않겠습니까? 여인들은 아이들을 잃고 과부가 되게 하십시오. 그 남편들은 염병으로 죽고 장정들은 싸움터에서 칼에 맞아 죽게 하십시오.
  5. 무리들이 갑자기 쳐들어와서 집집마다 아우성 소리가 터지게 하십시오. 이 몸을 잡으려고 함정을 판 것들, 올가미를 놓아 이 발을 걸어 넘어뜨리려고 합니다.
  1. Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah Surely the law is not going to be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the sage, nor the divine word to the prophet! Come on and let us strike at him with our tongue, and let us give no heed to any of his words."
  2. Do give heed to me, O LORD, And listen to what my opponents are saying!
  3. Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me Remember how I stood before You To speak good on their behalf, So as to turn away Your wrath from them.
  4. Therefore, give their children over to famine And deliver them up to the power of the sword; And let their wives become childless and widowed Let their men also be smitten to death, Their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
  5. May an outcry be heard from their houses, When You suddenly bring raiders upon them; For they have dug a pit to capture me And hidden snares for my feet.
  1. 저를 죽이려고 음모를 꾸미고 있는 것을 야훼께서는 잘 아시지 않습니까? 죄를 벗겨주시지 마시고 잘못을 용서해 주시지도 마십시오. 분김에 해치우시어 거꾸러지는 모습을 눈으로 보셔야 하지 않겠습니까?"
  1. Yet You, O LORD, know All their deadly designs against me; Do not forgive their iniquity Or blot out their sin from Your sight But may they be overthrown before You; Deal with them in the time of Your anger!
