- 이러한 내 교훈을 교우들에게 깨우쳐주시오. 그러면 그대는 지금까지 따르는 믿음의 원리와 참된 교훈으로 점점 자라서 그리스도 예수의 좋은 일꾼이 될 것입니다.
- 늙은 아낙네들이나 좋아하는 속된 이야기들을 물리치시오. 그리고 경건한 생활에 힘을 기울이는 훈련을 쌓으시오.
- 육체적인 훈련이 가져다 주는 이익은 대단한 것이 못됩니다. 그러나 경건한 생활은 모든 면에서 유익합니다. 그것은 현세의 생명을 약속해 줄 뿐 아니라 내세의 생명까지도 약속해 줍니다.
- 이것은 틀림없는 말이고 누구나 받아들일 만한 것입니다.
- 우리가 수고하며 싸우는 것은 모든 사람, 특히 믿는 사람들의 구세주이신 살아 계신 하느님께 희망을 걸고 있기 때문입니다.

- In pointing out these things to the brethren, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound doctrine which you have been following.
- But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;
- for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
- It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance.
- For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.

- 그대는 이런 일들을 명령하고 가르치시오.
- 젊다는 이유로 남에게 멸시를 당하지 말고 도리어 말에나 행실에나 사랑에나 믿음에나 순결에 있어서 신도들의 모범이 되시오.
- 내가 갈 때까지 성경 읽는 일과 격려하는 일과 가르치는 일에 힘쓰시오.
- 그대가 선물로 받은 그 거룩한 직무 곧 원로들이 그대에게 안수하며 예언해 준 말씀을 통해서 그대에게 맡겨진 직무를 등한히 하지 마시오.
- 이 직무에 전념하고 정성을 다하시오. 그리해서 그대가 발전하고 있음을 모든 사람이 보고 알 수 있게 하시오.

- Prescribe and teach these things.
- Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
- Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.
- Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.
- Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.

- 그대 자신을 조심하고 그대의 가르침의 내용을 잘 살피시오. 이렇게 꾸준히 일을 해 나가면 그대 자신을 구원할 뿐 아니라 그대의 말을 듣는 사람들을 모두 구원할 수 있을 것입니다.

- Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
