열왕기하 10:18-12:21

 예후는 정치적 숙청에 이어 바알 숭배자들을 몰살하는 종교 개혁을 단행하였다. 한편 남유다에서는 아하시야가 살해되자 아달랴가 왕위 찬탈 음모를 펼쳐 갔다. 그러나 이러한 와중에서 구사 일생으로 목숨을 건진 요아스는 여호야다의 도움으로 왕위를 회복하여 바알 숭배를 척결하고 성전을 수리하는 등 선정을 해나갔다. 그러나 그는 말년에 하사엘의 침입시 성전 보물을 조공으로 바치는 불신앙적 모습을 보임으로써 신하들의 칼에 맞아 죽는 심판을 받았다.
  
  예후의 종교 개혁(10:18-10:36)    
 
  1. 예후가 뭇 백성을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 아합은 바알을 조금 섬겼으나 예후는 많이 섬기리라
  2. 그러므로 내가 이제 큰 제사를 바알에게 드리고자 하노니 바알의 모든 선지자와 모든 섬기는 자와 모든 제사장들을 한 사람도 빠뜨리지 말고 불러 내게로 나아오게 하라 모든 오지 아니하는 자는 살려 두지 아니하리라 하니 이는 예후가 바알 섬기는 자를 멸하려 하여 계책을 씀이라
  3. 예후가 바알을 위하는 대회를 거룩히 열라 하매 드디어 공포되었더라
  4. 예후가 온 이스라엘에 사람을 두루 보냈더니 바알을 섬기는 모든 사람이 하나도 빠진 자가 없이 다 이르렀고 무리가 바알의 신당에 들어가매 바알의 신당 이쪽부터 저쪽까지 가득하였더라
  5. 예후가 예복 맡은 자에게 이르되 예복을 내다가 바알을 섬기는 모든 자에게 주라 하매 그들에게로 예복을 가져온지라
  1. Then Jehu brought all the people together and said to them, "Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much.
  2. Now summon all the prophets of Baal, all his ministers and all his priests. See that no one is missing, because I am going to hold a great sacrifice for Baal. Anyone who fails to come will no longer live." But Jehu was acting deceptively in order to destroy the ministers of Baal.
  3. Jehu said, "Call an assembly in honor of Baal." So they proclaimed it.
  4. Then he sent word throughout Israel, and all the ministers of Baal came; not one stayed away. They crowded into the temple of Baal until it was full from one end to the other.
  5. And Jehu said to the keeper of the wardrobe, "Bring robes for all the ministers of Baal." So he brought out robes for them.
  1. 예후가 레갑의 아들 여호나답과 더불어 바알의 신당에 들어가서 바알을 섬기는 자들에게 이르되 너희는 살펴보아 바알을 섬기는 자들만 여기 있게 하고 여호와의 종은 하나도 여기 너희 중에 있지 못하게 하라 하고
  2. 무리가 번제와 다른 제사를 드리려고 들어간 때에 예후가 팔십 명을 밖에 두며 이르되 내가 너희 손에 넘겨 주는 사람을 한 사람이라도 도망하게 하는 자는 자기의 생명으로 그 사람의 생명을 대신하리라 하니라
  3. 번제 드리기를 다하매 예후가 호위병과 지휘관들에게 이르되 들어가서 한 사람도 나가지 못하게 하고 죽이라 하매 호위병과 지휘관들이 칼로 그들을 죽여 밖에 던지고
  4. 바알의 신당 있는 성으로 가서 바알의 신당에서 목상들을 가져다가 불사르고
  5. 바알의 목상을 헐며 바알의 신당을 헐어서 변소를 만들었더니 오늘까지 이르니라
  1. Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Recab went into the temple of Baal. Jehu said to the ministers of Baal, "Look around and see that no servants of the LORD are here with you--only ministers of Baal."
  2. So they went in to make sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now Jehu had posted eighty men outside with this warning: "If one of you lets any of the men I am placing in your hands escape, it will be your life for his life."
  3. As soon as Jehu had finished making the burnt offering, he ordered the guards and officers: "Go in and kill them; let no one escape." So they cut them down with the sword. The guards and officers threw the bodies out and then entered the inner shrine of the temple of Baal.
  4. They brought the sacred stone out of the temple of Baal and burned it.
  5. They demolished the sacred stone of Baal and tore down the temple of Baal, and people have used it for a latrine to this day.
  1. 예후가 이와 같이 이스라엘 중에서 바알을 멸하였으나
  2. 이스라엘에게 범죄하게 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄 곧 벧엘과 단에 있는 금송아지를 섬기는 죄에서는 떠나지 아니하였더라
  3. 여호와께서 예후에게 이르시되 네가 나보기에 정직한 일을 행하되 잘 행하여 내 마음에 있는 대로 아합 집에 다 행하였은즉 네 자손이 이스라엘 왕위를 이어 사대를 지내리라 하시니라
  4. 그러나 예후가 전심으로 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 율법을 지켜 행하지 아니하며 여로보암이 이스라엘에게 범하게 한 그 죄에서 떠나지 아니하였더라
  5. 이 때에 여호와께서 이스라엘에서 땅을 잘라 내기 시작하시매 하사엘이 이스라엘의 모든 영토에서 공격하되
  1. So Jehu destroyed Baal worship in Israel.
  2. However, he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit--the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan.
  3. The LORD said to Jehu, "Because you have done well in accomplishing what is right in my eyes and have done to the house of Ahab all I had in mind to do, your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."
  4. Yet Jehu was not careful to keep the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit.
  5. In those days the LORD began to reduce the size of Israel. Hazael overpowered the Israelites throughout their territory
  1. 요단 동쪽 길르앗 온 땅 곧 갓 사람과 르우벤 사람과 므낫세 사람의 땅 아르논 골짜기에 있는 아로엘에서부터 길르앗과 바산까지 하였더라
  2. 예후의 남은 사적과 행한 모든 일과 업적은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  3. 예후가 그의 조상들과 함께 자매 사마리아에 장사되고 그의 아들 여호아하스가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  4. 예후가 사마리아에서 이스라엘을 다스린 햇수는 스물여덟 해이더라
  1. east of the Jordan in all the land of Gilead (the region of Gad, Reuben and Manasseh), from Aroer by the Arnon Gorge through Gilead to Bashan.
  2. As for the other events of Jehu's reign, all he did, and all his achievements, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Israel?
  3. Jehu rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son succeeded him as king.
  4. The time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.
 
  아달랴의 섭정(11:1-11:21)    
 
  1. 아하시야의 어머니 아달랴가 그의 아들이 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 왕의 자손을 모두 멸절하였으나
  2. 요람 왕의 딸 아하시야의 누이 여호세바가 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 왕자들이 죽임을 당하는 중에서 빼내어 그와 그의 유모를 침실에 숨겨 아달랴를 피하여 죽임을 당하지 아니하게 한지라
  3. 요아스가 그와 함께 여호와의 성전에 육 년을 숨어 있는 동안에 아달랴가 나라를 다스렸더라
  4. 일곱째 해에 여호야다가 사람을 보내 가리 사람의 백부장들과 호위병의 백부장들을 불러 데리고 여호와의 성전으로 들어가서 그들과 언약을 맺고 그들에게 여호와의 성전에서 맹세하게 한 후에 왕자를 그들에게 보이고
  5. 명령하여 이르되 너희가 행할 것이 이러하니 안식일에 들어온 너희 중 삼분의 일은 왕궁을 주의하여 지키고
  1. When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she proceeded to destroy the whole royal family.
  2. But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the royal princes, who were about to be murdered. She put him and his nurse in a bedroom to hide him from Athaliah; so he was not killed.
  3. He remained hidden with his nurse at the temple of the LORD for six years while Athaliah ruled the land.
  4. In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the commanders of units of a hundred, the Carites and the guards and had them brought to him at the temple of the LORD. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the temple of the LORD. Then he showed them the king's son.
  5. He commanded them, saying, "This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath--a third of you guarding the royal palace,
  1. 삼분의 일은 수르 문에 있고 삼분의 일은 호위대 뒤에 있는 문에 있어서 이와 같이 왕궁을 주의하여 지키고
  2. 안식일에 나가는 너희 중 두 대는 여호와의 성전을 주의하여 지켜 왕을 호위하되
  3. 너희는 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 너희 대열을 침범하는 모든 자는 죽이고 왕이 출입할 때에 시위할지니라 하니
  4. 백부장들이 이에 제사장 여호야다의 모든 명령대로 행하여 각기 관할하는 바 안식일에 들어오는 자와 안식일에 나가는 자를 거느리고 제사장 여호야다에게 나아오매
  5. 제사장이 여호와의 성전에 있는 다윗 왕의 창과 방패를 백부장들에게 주니
  1. a third at the Sur Gate, and a third at the gate behind the guard, who take turns guarding the temple-
  2. and you who are in the other two companies that normally go off Sabbath duty are all to guard the temple for the king.
  3. Station yourselves around the king, each man with his weapon in his hand. Anyone who approaches your ranks must be put to death. Stay close to the king wherever he goes."
  4. The commanders of units of a hundred did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each one took his men--those who were going on duty on the Sabbath and those who were going off duty--and came to Jehoiada the priest.
  5. Then he gave the commanders the spears and shields that had belonged to King David and that were in the temple of the LORD.
  1. 호위병이 각각 손에 무기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 성전 오른쪽에서부터 왼쪽까지 제단과 성전 곁에 서고
  2. 여호야다가 왕자를 인도하여 내어 왕관을 씌우며 율법책을 주고 기름을 부어 왕으로 삼으매 무리가 박수하며 왕의 만세를 부르니라
  3. 아달랴가 호위병과 백성의 소리를 듣고 여호와의 성전에 들어가 백성에게 이르러
  4. 보매 왕이 규례대로 단 위에 섰고 장관들과 나팔수가 왕의 곁에 모셔 섰으며 온 백성이 즐거워하여 나팔을 부는지라 아달랴가 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매
  5. 제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들에게 명령하여 이르되 그를 대열 밖으로 몰아내라 그를 따르는 자는 모두 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 성전에서는 그를 죽이지 말라 함이라
  1. The guards, each with his weapon in his hand, stationed themselves around the king--near the altar and the temple, from the south side to the north side of the temple.
  2. Jehoiada brought out the king's son and put the crown on him; he presented him with a copy of the covenant and proclaimed him king. They anointed him, and the people clapped their hands and shouted, "Long live the king!"
  3. When Athaliah heard the noise made by the guards and the people, she went to the people at the temple of the LORD.
  4. She looked and there was the king, standing by the pillar, as the custom was. The officers and the trumpeters were beside the king, and all the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her robes and called out, "Treason! Treason!"
  5. Jehoiada the priest ordered the commanders of units of a hundred, who were in charge of the troops: "Bring her out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her." For the priest had said, "She must not be put to death in the temple of the LORD."
  1. 이에 그의 길을 열어 주매 그가 왕궁의 말이 다니는 길로 가다가 거기서 죽임을 당하였더라
  2. 여호야다가 왕과 백성에게 여호와와 언약을 맺어 여호와의 백성이 되게 하고 왕과 백성 사이에도 언약을 세우게 하매
  3. 온 백성이 바알의 신당으로 가서 그 신당을 허물고 그 제단들과 우상들을 철저히 깨뜨리고 그 제단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라 제사장이 관리들을 세워 여호와의 성전을 수직하게 하고
  4. 또 백부장들과 가리 사람과 호위병과 온 백성을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 성전에서 내려와 호위병의 문 길을 통하여 왕궁에 이르매 그가 왕의 왕좌에 앉으니
  5. 온 백성이 즐거워하고 온 성이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 왕궁에서 칼로 죽였더라
  1. So they seized her as she reached the place where the horses enter the palace grounds, and there she was put to death.
  2. Jehoiada then made a covenant between the LORD and the king and people that they would be the LORD's people. He also made a covenant between the king and the people.
  3. All the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols to pieces and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars. Then Jehoiada the priest posted guards at the temple of the LORD.
  4. He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, the guards and all the people of the land, and together they brought the king down from the temple of the LORD and went into the palace, entering by way of the gate of the guards. The king then took his place on the royal throne,
  5. and all the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet, because Athaliah had been slain with the sword at the palace.
  1. 요아스가 왕이 될 때에 나이가 칠 세였더라
  1. Joash was seven years old when he began to reign.
 
  요아스의 유다 통치(12:1-12:21)    
 
  1. 예후의 제칠년에 요아스가 왕이 되어 예루살렘에서 사십 년간 통치하니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 시비아라 브엘세바 사람이더라
  2. 요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 그를 교훈하는 모든 날 동안에는 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으되
  3. 다만 산당들을 제거하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 여전히 산당에서 제사하며 분향하였더라
  4. 요아스가 제사장들에게 이르되 여호와의 성전에 거룩하게 하여 드리는 모든 은 곧 사람이 통용하는 은이나 각 사람의 몸값으로 드리는 은이나 자원하여 여호와의 성전에 드리는 모든 은을
  5. 제사장들이 각각 아는 자에게서 받아들여 성전의 어느 곳이든지 파손된 것을 보거든 그것으로 수리하라 하였으나
  1. In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother's name was Zibiah; she was from Beersheba.
  2. Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all the years Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
  3. The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.
  4. Joash said to the priests, "Collect all the money that is brought as sacred offerings to the temple of the LORD -the money collected in the census, the money received from personal vows and the money brought voluntarily to the temple.
  5. Let every priest receive the money from one of the treasurers, and let it be used to repair whatever damage is found in the temple."
  1. 요아스 왕 제이십삼년에 이르도록 제사장들이 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였는지라
  2. 요아스 왕이 대제사장 여호야다와 제사장들을 불러 이르되 너희가 어찌하여 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였느냐 이제부터는 너희가 아는 사람에게서 은을 받지 말고 그들이 성전의 파손한 데를 위하여 드리게 하라
  3. 제사장들이 다시는 백성에게 은을 받지도 아니하고 성전 파손한 것을 수리하지도 아니하기로 동의하니라
  4. 제사장 여호야다가 한 궤를 가져다가 그것의 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 여호와의 전문 어귀 오른쪽 곧 제단 옆에 두매 여호와의 성전에 가져 오는 모든 은을 다 문을 지키는 제사장들이 그 궤에 넣더라
  5. 이에 그 궤 가운데 은이 많은 것을 보면 왕의 서기와 대제사장이 올라와서 여호와의 성전에 있는 대로 그 은을 계산하여 봉하고
  1. But by the twenty-third year of King Joash the priests still had not repaired the temple.
  2. Therefore King Joash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests and asked them, "Why aren't you repairing the damage done to the temple? Take no more money from your treasurers, but hand it over for repairing the temple."
  3. The priests agreed that they would not collect any more money from the people and that they would not repair the temple themselves.
  4. Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid. He placed it beside the altar, on the right side as one enters the temple of the LORD. The priests who guarded the entrance put into the chest all the money that was brought to the temple of the LORD.
  5. Whenever they saw that there was a large amount of money in the chest, the royal secretary and the high priest came, counted the money that had been brought into the temple of the LORD and put it into bags.
  1. 그 달아본 은을 일하는 자 곧 여호와의 성전을 맡은 자의 손에 넘기면 그들은 또 여호와의 성전을 수리하는 목수와 건축하는 자들에게 주고
  2. 또 미장이와 석수에게 주고 또 여호와의 성전 파손한 데를 수리할 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사게 하며 그 성전을 수리할 모든 물건을 위하여 쓰게 하였으되
  3. 여호와의 성전에 드린 그 은으로 그 성전의 은 대접이나 불집게나 주발이나 나팔이나 아무 금 그릇이나 은 그릇도 만들지 아니하고
  4. 그 은을 일하는 자에게 주어 그것으로 여호와의 성전을 수리하게 하였으며
  5. 또 그 은을 받아 일꾼에게 주는 사람들과 회계하지 아니하였으니 이는 그들이 성실히 일을 하였음이라
  1. When the amount had been determined, they gave the money to the men appointed to supervise the work on the temple. With it they paid those who worked on the temple of the LORD -the carpenters and builders,
  2. the masons and stonecutters. They purchased timber and dressed stone for the repair of the temple of the LORD, and met all the other expenses of restoring the temple.
  3. The money brought into the temple was not spent for making silver basins, wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls, trumpets or any other articles of gold or silver for the temple of the LORD;
  4. it was paid to the workmen, who used it to repair the temple.
  5. They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted with complete honesty.
  1. 속건제의 은과 속죄제의 은은 여호와의 성전에 드리지 아니하고 제사장에게 돌렸더라
  2. 그 때에 아람 왕 하사엘이 올라와서 가드를 쳐서 점령하고 예루살렘을 향하여 올라오고자 하므로
  3. 유다의 왕 요아스가 그의 조상들 유다 왕 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 구별하여 드린 모든 성물과 자기가 구별하여 드린 성물과 여호와의 성전 곳간과 왕궁에 있는 금을 다 가져다가 아람 왕 하사엘에게 보냈더니 하사엘이 예루살렘에서 떠나갔더라
  4. 요아스의 남은 사적과 그가 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
  5. 요아스의 신복들이 일어나 반역하여 실라로 내려가는 길 가의 밀로 궁에서 그를 죽였고
  1. The money from the guilt offerings and sin offerings was not brought into the temple of the LORD; it belonged to the priests.
  2. About this time Hazael king of Aram went up and attacked Gath and captured it. Then he turned to attack Jerusalem.
  3. But Joash king of Judah took all the sacred objects dedicated by his fathers--Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, the kings of Judah--and the gifts he himself had dedicated and all the gold found in the treasuries of the temple of the LORD and of the royal palace, and he sent them to Hazael king of Aram, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.
  4. As for the other events of the reign of Joash, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
  5. His officials conspired against him and assassinated him at Beth Millo, on the road down to Silla.
  1. 그를 쳐서 죽인 신복은 시므앗의 아들 요사갈과 소멜의 아들 여호사바드였더라 그는 다윗 성에 그의 조상들과 함께 장사되고 그의 아들 아마샤가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  1. The officials who murdered him were Jozabad son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer. He died and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. And Amaziah his son succeeded him as king.
