역대하 10:1-12:16

 과중한 세금과 노역에 시달리던 백성들은 르호보암에게 시정을 요구하였지만, 그는 어리석게도 강경책을 고수하였다. 결국 여로보암을 중심으로 열 지파가 반란을 일으켜 왕국은 둘로 나뉘게 되었다. 르호보암은 초기에는 지혜로운 통치로 왕국을 안정시켰으나, 나라가 강성해지자 율법을 버리고 하나님께 범죄함으로써 애굽 왕 시삭의 침입을 받는 징계를 받았다.
  
  왕국 분열(10:1-10:19)    
 
  1. 르호보암이 세겜으로 갔으니 이는 온 이스라엘이 그를 왕으로 삼고자 하여 세겜에 이르렀음이더라
  2. 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 전에 솔로몬 왕의 낯을 피하여 애굽으로 도망하여 있었더니 이 일을 듣고 여로보암이 애굽에서부터 돌아오매
  3. 무리가 사람을 보내어 그를 불렀더라 여로보암과 온 이스라엘이 와서 르호보암에게 말하여 이르되
  4. 왕의 아버지께서 우리의 멍에를 무겁게 하였으나 왕은 이제 왕의 아버지께서 우리에게 시킨 고역과 메운 무거운 멍에를 가볍게 하소서 그리하시면 우리가 왕을 섬기겠나이다
  5. 르호보암이 그들에게 대답하되 삼 일 후에 다시 내게로 오라 하매 백성이 가니라
  1. Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all the Israelites had gone there to make him king.
  2. When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard this (he was in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), he returned from Egypt.
  3. So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and all Israel went to Rehoboam and said to him:
  4. "Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you."
  5. Rehoboam answered, "Come back to me in three days." So the people went away.
  1. 르호보암 왕이 그의 아버지 솔로몬의 생전에 그 앞에 모셨던 원로들과 의논하여 이르되 너희는 이 백성에게 어떻게 대답하도록 권고하겠느냐 하니
  2. 그들이 대답하여 이르되 왕이 만일 이 백성을 후대하여 기쁘게 하고 선한 말을 하시면 그들이 영원히 왕의 종이 되리이다 하나
  3. 왕은 원로들이 가르치는 것을 버리고 그 앞에 모시고 있는 자기와 함께 자라난 젊은 신하들과 의논하여
  4. 이르되 너희는 이 백성에게 어떻게 대답하도록 권고하겠느냐 백성이 내게 말하기를 왕의 아버지께서 우리에게 메운 멍에를 가볍게 하라 하였느니라 하니
  5. 함께 자라난 젊은 신하들이 왕께 말하여 이르되 이 백성들이 왕께 아뢰기를 왕의 아버지께서 우리의 멍에를 무겁게 하였으나 왕은 우리를 위하여 가볍게 하라 하였은즉 왕은 대답하시기를 내 새끼 손가락이 내 아버지의 허리보다 굵으니
  1. Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. "How would you advise me to answer these people?" he asked.
  2. They replied, "If you will be kind to these people and please them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants."
  3. But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.
  4. He asked them, "What is your advice? How should we answer these people who say to me, 'Lighten the yoke your father put on us'?"
  5. The young men who had grown up with him replied, "Tell the people who have said to you, 'Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but make our yoke lighter'-tell them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist.
  1. 내 아버지가 너희에게 무거운 멍에를 메게 하였으나 이제 나는 너희의 멍에를 더욱 무겁게 할지라 내 아버지는 가죽 채찍으로 너희를 치셨으나 나는 전갈 채찍으로 하리라 하소서 하더라
  2. 삼 일 만에 여로보암과 모든 백성이 르호보암에게 나왔으니 이는 왕이 명령하여 이르기를 삼 일 만에 내게로 다시 오라 하였음이라
  3. 왕이 포학한 말로 대답할새 르호보암이 원로들의 가르침을 버리고
  4. 젊은 신하들의 가르침을 따라 그들에게 말하여 이르되 내 아버지는 너희의 멍에를 무겁게 하였으나 나는 더 무겁게 할지라 내 아버지는 가죽 채찍으로 너희를 치셨으나 나는 전갈 채찍으로 치리라 하니라
  5. 왕이 이같이 백성의 말을 듣지 아니하였으니 이 일은 하나님께로 말미암아 난 것이라 여호와께서 전에 실로 사람 아히야로 하여금 느밧의 아들 여로보암에게 이르신 말씀을 응하게 하심이더라
  1. My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.' "
  2. Three days later Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, as the king had said, "Come back to me in three days."
  3. The king answered them harshly. Rejecting the advice of the elders,
  4. he followed the advice of the young men and said, "My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions."
  5. So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from God, to fulfill the word the LORD had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.
  1. 온 이스라엘은 왕이 자기들의 말을 듣지 아니함을 보고 왕에게 대답하여 이르되 우리가 다윗과 무슨 관계가 있느냐 이새의 아들에게서 받을 유산이 없도다 이스라엘아 각각 너희의 장막으로 돌아가라 다윗이여 이제 너는 네 집이나 돌보라 하고 온 이스라엘이 그들의 장막으로 돌아가니라
  2. 그러나 유다 성읍들에 사는 이스라엘 자손들에게는 르호보암이 그들의 왕이 되었더라
  3. 르호보암 왕이 역꾼의 감독 하도람을 보냈더니 이스라엘 자손이 저를 돌로 쳐 죽인지라 르호보암 왕이 급히 수레에 올라 예루살렘으로 도망하였더라
  4. 이에 이스라엘이 다윗의 집을 배반하여 오늘날까지 이르니라
  1. When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king: "What share do we have in David, what part in Jesse's son? To your tents, O Israel! Look after your own house, O David!" So all the Israelites went home.
  2. But as for the Israelites who were living in the towns of Judah, Rehoboam still ruled over them.
  3. King Rehoboam sent out Adoniram, who was in charge of forced labor, but the Israelites stoned him to death. King Rehoboam, however, managed to get into his chariot and escape to Jerusalem.
  4. So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.
 
  유다 왕국의 강성(11:1-11:23)    
 
  1. 르호보암이 예루살렘에 이르러 유다와 베냐민 족속을 모으니 택한 용사가 십팔만 명이라 이스라엘과 싸워 나라를 회복하여 르호보암에게 돌리려 하더니
  2. 여호와의 말씀이 하나님의 사람 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되
  3. 솔로몬의 아들 유다 왕 르호보암과 유다와 베냐민에 속한 모든 이스라엘 무리에게 말하여 이르기를
  4. 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희는 올라가지 말라 너희 형제와 싸우지 말고 각기 집으로 돌아가라 이 일이 내게로 말미암아 난 것이라 하셨다 하라 하신지라 그들이 여호와의 말씀을 듣고 돌아가고 여로보암을 치러 가던 길에서 되돌아왔더라
  5. 르호보암이 예루살렘에 살면서 유다 땅에 방비하는 성읍들을 건축하였으니
  1. When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mustered the house of Judah and Benjamin--a hundred and eighty thousand fighting men--to make war against Israel and to regain the kingdom for Rehoboam.
  2. But this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God:
  3. "Say to Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin,
  4. 'This is what the LORD says: Do not go up to fight against your brothers. Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.' " So they obeyed the words of the LORD and turned back from marching against Jeroboam.
  5. Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built up towns for defense in Judah:
  1. 곧 베들레헴과 에담과 드고아와
  2. 벧술과 소고와 아둘람과
  3. 가드와 마레사와 십과
  4. 아도라임과 라기스와 아세가와
  5. 소라와 아얄론과 헤브론이니 다 유다와 베냐민 땅에 있어 견고한 성읍들이라
  1. Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,
  2. Beth Zur, Soco, Adullam,
  3. Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,
  4. Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,
  5. Zorah, Aijalon and Hebron. These were fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.
  1. 르호보암이 그 방비하는 성읍들을 더욱 견고하게 하고 지휘관들을 그 가운데에 두고 양식과 기름과 포도주를 저축하고
  2. 모든 성읍에 방패와 창을 두어 매우 강하게 하니라 유다와 베냐민이 르호보암에게 속하였더라
  3. 온 이스라엘의 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 그들의 모든 지방에서부터 르호보암에게 돌아오되
  4. 레위 사람들이 자기들의 마을들과 산업을 떠나 유다와 예루살렘에 이르렀으니 이는 여로보암과 그의 아들들이 그들을 해임하여 여호와께 제사장의 직분을 행하지 못하게 하고
  5. 여로보암이 여러 산당과 숫염소 우상과 자기가 만든 송아지 우상을 위하여 친히 제사장들을 세움이라
  1. He strengthened their defenses and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, olive oil and wine.
  2. He put shields and spears in all the cities, and made them very strong. So Judah and Benjamin were his.
  3. The priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel sided with him.
  4. The Levites even abandoned their pasturelands and property, and came to Judah and Jerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.
  5. And he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat and calf idols he had made.
  1. 이스라엘 모든 지파 중에 마음을 굳게 하여 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 찾는 자들이 레위 사람들을 따라 예루살렘에 이르러 그들의 조상들의 하나님 여호와께 제사하고자 한지라
  2. 그러므로 삼 년 동안 유다 나라를 도와 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 강성하게 하였으니 이는 무리가 삼 년 동안을 다윗과 솔로몬의 길로 행하였음이더라
  3. 르호보암이 다윗의 아들 여리못의 딸 마할랏을 아내로 삼았으니 마할랏은 이새의 아들 엘리압의 딸 아비하일의 소생이라
  4. 그가 아들들 곧 여우스와 스마랴와 사함을 낳았으며
  5. 그 후에 압살롬의 딸 마아가에게 장가 들었더니 그가 아비야와 앗대와 시사와 슬로밋을 낳았더라
  1. Those from every tribe of Israel who set their hearts on seeking the LORD, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
  2. They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon three years, walking in the ways of David and Solomon during this time.
  3. Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David's son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse's son Eliab.
  4. She bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.
  5. Then he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.
  1. 르호보암은 아내 열여덟 명과 첩 예순 명을 거느려 아들 스물여덟 명과 딸 예순 명을 낳았으나 압살롬의 딸 마아가를 모든 처첩보다 더 사랑하여
  2. 르호보암은 마아가의 아들 아비야를 후계자로 세웠으니 이는 그의 형제들 가운데 지도자로 삼아 왕으로 세우고자 함이었더라
  3. 르호보암이 지혜롭게 행하여 그의 모든 아들을 유다와 베냐민의 온 땅 모든 견고한 성읍에 흩어 살게 하고 양식을 후히 주고 아내를 많이 구하여 주었더라
  1. Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
  2. Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah to be the chief prince among his brothers, in order to make him king.
  3. He acted wisely, dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and took many wives for them.
 
  애굽의 침입(12:1-12:16)    
 
  1. 르호보암의 나라가 견고하고 세력이 강해지매 그가 여호와의 율법을 버리니 온 이스라엘이 본받은지라
  2. 그들이 여호와께 범죄하였으므로 르호보암 왕 제오년에 애굽 왕 시삭이 예루살렘을 치러 올라오니
  3. 그에게 병거가 천이백 대요 마병이 육만 명이며 애굽에서 그와 함께 온 백성 곧 리비아와 숙과 구스 사람이 헤아릴 수 없이 많더라
  4. 시삭이 유다의 견고한 성읍들을 빼앗고 예루살렘에 이르니
  5. 그 때에 유다 방백들이 시삭의 일로 예루살렘에 모였는지라 선지자 스마야가 르호보암과 방백들에게 나아와 이르되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 너희가 나를 버렸으므로 나도 너희를 버려 시삭의 손에 넘겼노라 하셨다 한지라
  1. After Rehoboam's position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the LORD.
  2. Because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam.
  3. With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen and the innumerable troops of Libyans, Sukkites and Cushites that came with him from Egypt,
  4. he captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.
  5. Then the prophet Shemaiah came to Rehoboam and to the leaders of Judah who had assembled in Jerusalem for fear of Shishak, and he said to them, "This is what the LORD says, 'You have abandoned me; therefore, I now abandon you to Shishak.' "
  1. 이에 이스라엘 방백들과 왕이 스스로 겸비하여 이르되 여호와는 의로우시다 하매
  2. 여호와께서 그들이 스스로 겸비함을 보신지라 여호와의 말씀이 스마야에게 임하여 이르시되 그들이 스스로 겸비하였으니 내가 멸하지 아니하고 저희를 조금 구원하여 나의 노를 시삭의 손을 통하여 예루살렘에 쏟지 아니하리라
  3. 그러나 그들이 시삭의 종이 되어 나를 섬기는 것과 세상 나라들을 섬기는 것이 어떠한지 알게 되리라 하셨더라
  4. 애굽 왕 시삭이 올라와서 예루살렘을 치고 여호와의 전 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 모두 빼앗고 솔로몬이 만든 금 방패도 빼앗은지라
  5. 르호보암 왕이 그 대신에 놋으로 방패를 만들어 궁문을 지키는 경호 책임자들의 손에 맡기매
  1. The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, "The LORD is just."
  2. When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah: "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.
  3. They will, however, become subject to him, so that they may learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands."
  4. When Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem, he carried off the treasures of the temple of the LORD and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields Solomon had made.
  5. So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.
  1. 왕이 여호와의 전에 들어갈 때마다 경호하는 자가 그 방패를 들고 갔다가 경호실로 도로 가져갔더라
  2. 르호보암이 스스로 겸비하였고 유다에 선한 일도 있으므로 여호와께서 노를 돌이키사 다 멸하지 아니하셨더라
  3. 르호보암 왕은 예루살렘에서 스스로 세력을 굳게 하여 다스리니라 르호보암이 왕위에 오를 때에 나이가 사십일 세라 예루살렘 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘의 모든 지파 중에서 택하여 그의 이름을 두신 성에서 십칠 년 동안 다스리니라 르호보암의 어머니의 이름은 나아마요 암몬 여인이더라
  4. 르호보암이 악을 행하였으니 이는 그가 여호와를 구하는 마음을 굳게 하지 아니함이었더라
  5. 르호보암의 처음부터 끝까지의 행적은 선지자 스마야와 선견자 잇도의 족보책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에 항상 전쟁이 있으니라
  1. Whenever the king went to the LORD's temple, the guards went with him, bearing the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom.
  2. Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the LORD's anger turned from him, and he was not totally destroyed. Indeed, there was some good in Judah.
  3. King Rehoboam established himself firmly in Jerusalem and continued as king. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his Name. His mother's name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.
  4. He did evil because he had not set his heart on seeking the LORD.
  5. As for the events of Rehoboam's reign, from beginning to end, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer that deal with genealogies? There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
  1. 르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아비야가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라
  1. Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And Abijah his son succeeded him as king.
