예레미야 42:1-44:14

 애굽을 향하던 요하난 일행이 하나님의 뜻을 묻자, 예레미야는 유다 땅에 머물면 안전하지만 애굽으로 가면 치욕을 당할 것이라고 답변했다. 그러나 요하난 일행은 하나님의 말씀을 무시하고 애굽으로 갔다. 이에 예레미야는 상징적 행동을 통해 그들이 우상을 섬기면 예루살렘에 임한 심판이 애굽에도 임하게 될 것이라고 경고했다.
  
  애굽 이주와 하나님의 경고(42:1-42:22)    
 
  1. 이에 모든 군대의 지휘관과 가레아의 아들 요하난과 호사야의 아들 여사냐와 백성의 낮은 자로부터 높은 자까지 다 나아와
  2. 선지자 예레미야에게 이르되 당신은 우리의 탄원을 듣고 이 남아 있는 모든 자를 위하여 당신의 하나님 여호와께 기도해 주소서 당신이 보는 바와 같이 우리는 많은 사람 중에서 남은 적은 무리이니
  3. 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 우리가 마땅히 갈 길과 할 일을 보이시기를 원하나이다
  4. 선지자 예레미야가 그들에게 이르되 내가 너희 말을 들었은즉 너희 말대로 너희 하나님 여호와께 기도하고 무릇 여호와께서 너희에게 응답하시는 것을 숨김이 없이 너희에게 말하리라
  5. 그들이 예레미야에게 이르되 우리가 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 당신을 보내사 우리에게 이르시는 모든 말씀대로 행하리이다 여호와께서는 우리 가운데에 진실하고 성실한 증인이 되시옵소서
  1. Then all the army officers, including Johanan son of Kareah and Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest approached
  2. Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, "Please hear our petition and pray to the LORD your God for this entire remnant. For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left.
  3. Pray that the LORD your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do."
  4. "I have heard you," replied Jeremiah the prophet. "I will certainly pray to the LORD your God as you have requested; I will tell you everything the LORD says and will keep nothing back from you."
  5. Then they said to Jeremiah, "May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the LORD your God sends you to tell us.
  1. 우리가 당신을 우리 하나님 여호와께 보냄은 그의 목소리가 우리에게 좋든지 좋지 않든지를 막론하고 순종하려 함이라 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와의 목소리를 순종하면 우리에게 복이 있으리이다 하니라
  2. 십일 후에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니
  3. 그가 가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께 있는 모든 군 지휘관과 백성의 낮은 자로부터 높은 자까지 다 부르고
  4. 그들에게 이르되 너희가 나를 보내어 너희의 간구를 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 드리게 하지 아니하였느냐 그가 이렇게 이르니라
  5. 너희가 이 땅에 눌러 앉아 산다면 내가 너희를 세우고 헐지 아니하며 너희를 심고 뽑지 아니하리니 이는 내가 너희에게 내린 재난에 대하여 뜻을 돌이킴이라
  1. Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the LORD our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the LORD our God."
  2. Ten days later the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah.
  3. So he called together Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers who were with him and all the people from the least to the greatest.
  4. He said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition, says:
  5. 'If you stay in this land, I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I am grieved over the disaster I have inflicted on you.
  1. 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희는 너희가 두려워하는 바벨론의 왕을 겁내지 말라 내가 너희와 함께 있어 너희를 구원하며 그의 손에서 너희를 건지리니 두려워하지 말라
  2. 내가 너희를 불쌍히 여기리니 그도 너희를 불쌍히 여겨 너희를 너희 본향으로 돌려보내리라 하셨느니라
  3. 그러나 만일 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 복종하지 아니하고 말하기를 우리는 이 땅에 살지 아니하리라 하며
  4. 또 너희가 말하기를 아니라 우리는 전쟁도 보이지 아니하며 나팔 소리도 들리지 아니하며 양식의 궁핍도 당하지 아니하는 애굽 땅으로 들어가 살리라 하면 잘못되리라
  5. 너희 유다의 남은 자여 이제 여호와의 말씀을 들으라 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 너희가 만일 애굽에 들어가서 거기에 살기로 고집하면
  1. Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands.
  2. I will show you compassion so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your land.'
  3. "However, if you say, 'We will not stay in this land,' and so disobey the LORD your God,
  4. and if you say, 'No, we will go and live in Egypt, where we will not see war or hear the trumpet or be hungry for bread,'
  5. then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'If you are determined to go to Egypt and you do go to settle there,
  1. 너희가 두려워하는 칼이 애굽 땅으로 따라가서 너희에게 미칠 것이요 너희가 두려워하는 기근이 애굽으로 급히 따라가서 너희에게 임하리니 너희가 거기에서 죽을 것이라
  2. 무릇 애굽으로 들어가서 거기에 머물러 살기로 고집하는 모든 사람은 이와 같이 되리니 곧 칼과 기근과 전염병에 죽을 것인즉 내가 그들에게 내리는 재난을 벗어나서 남을 자 없으리라
  3. 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 나의 노여움과 분을 예루살렘 주민에게 부은 것 같이 너희가 애굽에 이를 때에 나의 분을 너희에게 부으리니 너희가 가증함과 놀램과 저주와 치욕 거리가 될 것이라 너희가 다시는 이 땅을 보지 못하리라 하시도다
  4. 유다의 남은 자들아 여호와께서 너희를 두고 하신 말씀에 너희는 애굽으로 가지 말라 하셨고 나도 오늘 너희에게 경고한 것을 너희는 분명히 알라
  5. 너희가 나를 너희 하나님 여호와께 보내며 이르기를 우리를 위하여 우리 하나님 여호와께 기도하고 우리 하나님 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 우리에게 전하라 우리가 그대로 행하리라 하여 너희 마음을 속였느니라
  1. then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the famine you dread will follow you into Egypt, and there you will die.
  2. Indeed, all who are determined to go to Egypt to settle there will die by the sword, famine and plague; not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring on them.'
  3. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: 'As my anger and wrath have been poured out on those who lived in Jerusalem, so will my wrath be poured out on you when you go to Egypt. You will be an object of cursing and horror, of condemnation and reproach; you will never see this place again.'
  4. "O remnant of Judah, the LORD has told you, 'Do not go to Egypt.' Be sure of this: I warn you today
  5. that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the LORD your God and said, 'Pray to the LORD our God for us; tell us everything he says and we will do it.'
  1. 너희 하나님 여호와께서 나를 보내사 너희에게 명하신 말씀을 내가 오늘 너희에게 전하였어도 너희가 너희 하나님 여호와의 목소리를 도무지 순종하지 아니하였은즉
  2. 너희가 가서 머물려고 하는 곳에서 칼과 기근과 전염병에 죽을 줄 분명히 알지니라
  1. I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the LORD your God in all he sent me to tell you.
  2. So now, be sure of this: You will die by the sword, famine and plague in the place where you want to go to settle."
 
  애굽으로 끌려간 예레미야(43:1-43:13)    
 
  1. 예레미야가 모든 백성에게 그들의 하나님 여호와의 말씀 곧 그들의 하나님 여호와께서 자기를 보내사 그들에게 이르신 이 모든 말씀을 말하기를 마치니
  2. 호사야의 아들 아사랴와 가레아의 아들 요하난과 모든 오만한 자가 예레미야에게 말하기를 네가 거짓을 말하는도다 우리 하나님 여호와께서 너희는 애굽에서 살려고 그리로 가지 말라고 너를 보내어 말하게 하지 아니하셨느니라
  3. 이는 네리야의 아들 바룩이 너를 부추겨서 우리를 대적하여 갈대아 사람의 손에 넘겨 죽이며 바벨론으로 붙잡아가게 하려 함이라
  4. 이에 가레아의 아들 요하난과 모든 군 지휘관과 모든 백성이 유다 땅에 살라 하시는 여호와의 목소리를 순종하지 아니하고
  5. 가레아의 아들 요하난과 모든 군 지휘관이 유다의 남은 자 곧 쫓겨났던 여러 나라 가운데에서 유다 땅에 살려 하여 돌아온 자
  1. When Jeremiah finished telling the people all the words of the LORD their God--everything the LORD had sent him to tell them-
  2. Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, "You are lying! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, 'You must not go to Egypt to settle there.'
  3. But Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us to hand us over to the Babylonians, so they may kill us or carry us into exile to Babylon."
  4. So Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers and all the people disobeyed the LORD's command to stay in the land of Judah.
  5. Instead, Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers led away all the remnant of Judah who had come back to live in the land of Judah from all the nations where they had been scattered.
  1. 곧 남자와 여자와 유아와 왕의 딸들과 사령관 느부사라단이 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그다랴에게 맡겨 둔 모든 사람과 선지자 예레미야와 네리야의 아들 바룩을 거느리고
  2. 애굽 땅에 들어가 다바네스에 이르렀으니 그들이 여호와의 목소리를 순종하지 아니함이러라
  3. 다바네스에서 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하여 이르시되
  4. 너는 유다 사람의 눈 앞에서 네 손으로 큰 돌 여러 개를 가져다가 다바네스에 있는 바로의 궁전 대문의 벽돌로 쌓은 축대에 진흙으로 감추라
  5. 그리고 너는 그들에게 말하기를 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 내 종 바벨론의 느부갓네살 왕을 불러오리니 그가 그의 왕좌를 내가 감추게 한 이 돌들 위에 놓고 또 그 화려한 큰 장막을 그 위에 치리라
  1. They also led away all the men, women and children and the king's daughters whom Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had left with Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch son of Neriah.
  2. So they entered Egypt in disobedience to the LORD and went as far as Tahpanhes.
  3. In Tahpanhes the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
  4. "While the Jews are watching, take some large stones with you and bury them in clay in the brick pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh's palace in Tahpanhes.
  5. Then say to them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I will send for my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these stones I have buried here; he will spread his royal canopy above them.
  1. 그가 와서 애굽 땅을 치고 죽일 자는 죽이고 사로잡을 자는 사로잡고 칼로 칠 자는 칼로 칠 것이라
  2. 내가 애굽 신들의 신당들을 불지르리라 느부갓네살이 그들을 불사르며 그들을 사로잡을 것이요 목자가 그의 몸에 옷을 두름 같이 애굽 땅을 자기 몸에 두르고 평안히 그 곳을 떠날 것이며
  3. 그가 또 애굽 땅 벧세메스의 석상들을 깨뜨리고 애굽 신들의 신당들을 불사르리라 하셨다 할지니라 하시니라
  1. He will come and attack Egypt, bringing death to those destined for death, captivity to those destined for captivity, and the sword to those destined for the sword.
  2. He will set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he will burn their temples and take their gods captive. As a shepherd wraps his garment around him, so will he wrap Egypt around himself and depart from there unscathed.
  3. There in the temple of the sun in Egypt he will demolish the sacred pillars and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.' "
 
  우상 숭배로 인한 심판(44:1-44:14)    
 
  1. 애굽 땅에 사는 모든 유다 사람 곧 믹돌과 다바네스와 놉과 바드로스 지방에 사는 자에 대하여 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니라 이르시되
  2. 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 너희가 예루살렘과 유다 모든 성읍에 내린 나의 모든 재난을 보았느니라 보라 오늘 그것들이 황무지가 되었고 사는 사람이 없나니
  3. 이는 그들이 자기나 너희나 너희 조상들이 알지 못하는 다른 신들에게 나아가 분향하여 섬겨서 나의 노여움을 일으킨 악행으로 말미암음이라
  4. 내가 나의 모든 종 선지자들을 너희에게 보내되 끊임없이 보내어 이르기를 너희는 내가 미워하는 이 가증한 일을 행하지 말라 하였으나
  5. 그들이 듣지 아니하며 귀를 기울이지 아니하고 다른 신들에게 여전히 분향하여 그들의 악에서 돌이키지 아니하였으므로
  1. This word came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews living in Lower Egypt--in Migdol, Tahpanhes and Memphis --and in Upper Egypt :
  2. "This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You saw the great disaster I brought on Jerusalem and on all the towns of Judah. Today they lie deserted and in ruins
  3. because of the evil they have done. They provoked me to anger by burning incense and by worshiping other gods that neither they nor you nor your fathers ever knew.
  4. Again and again I sent my servants the prophets, who said, 'Do not do this detestable thing that I hate!'
  5. But they did not listen or pay attention; they did not turn from their wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods.
  1. 나의 분과 나의 노여움을 쏟아서 유다 성읍들과 예루살렘 거리를 불살랐더니 그것들이 오늘과 같이 폐허와 황무지가 되었느니라
  2. 만군의 하나님 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하셨느니라 너희가 어찌하여 큰 악을 행하여 자기 영혼을 해하며 유다 가운데에서 너희의 남자와 여자와 아이와 젖 먹는 자를 멸절하여 남은 자가 없게 하려느냐
  3. 어찌하여 너희가 너희 손이 만든 것으로 나의 노여움을 일으켜 너희가 가서 머물러 사는 애굽 땅에서 다른 신들에게 분향함으로 끊어 버림을 당하여 세계 여러 나라 가운데에서 저주와 수치 거리가 되고자 하느냐
  4. 너희가 유다 땅과 예루살렘 거리에서 행한 너희 조상들의 악행과 유다 왕들의 악행과 왕비들의 악행과 너희의 악행과 너희 아내들의 악행을 잊었느냐
  5. 그들이 오늘까지 겸손하지 아니하며 두려워하지도 아니하고 내가 너희와 너희 조상들 앞에 세운 나의 율법과 나의 법규를 지켜 행하지 아니하느니라
  1. Therefore, my fierce anger was poured out; it raged against the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem and made them the desolate ruins they are today.
  2. "Now this is what the LORD God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Why bring such great disaster on yourselves by cutting off from Judah the men and women, the children and infants, and so leave yourselves without a remnant?
  3. Why provoke me to anger with what your hands have made, burning incense to other gods in Egypt, where you have come to live? You will destroy yourselves and make yourselves an object of cursing and reproach among all the nations on earth.
  4. Have you forgotten the wickedness committed by your fathers and by the kings and queens of Judah and the wickedness committed by you and your wives in the land of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem?
  5. To this day they have not humbled themselves or shown reverence, nor have they followed my law and the decrees I set before you and your fathers.
  1. 그러므로 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 보라 내가 얼굴을 너희에게로 향하여 환난을 내리고 온 유다를 끊어 버릴 것이며
  2. 내가 또 애굽 땅에 머물러 살기로 고집하고 그리로 들어간 유다의 남은 자들을 처단하리니 그들이 다 멸망하여 애굽 땅에서 엎드러질 것이라 그들이 칼과 기근에 망하되 낮은 자로부터 높은 자까지 칼과 기근에 죽어서 저주와 놀램과 조롱과 수치의 대상이 되리라
  3. 내가 예루살렘을 벌한 것 같이 애굽 땅에 사는 자들을 칼과 기근과 전염병으로 벌하리니
  4. 애굽 땅에 들어가서 거기에 머물러 살려는 유다의 남은 자 중에 피하거나 살아 남아 소원대로 돌아와서 살고자 하여 유다 땅에 돌아올 자가 없을 것이라 도망치는 자들 외에는 돌아올 자가 없으리라 하셨느니라
  1. "Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am determined to bring disaster on you and to destroy all Judah.
  2. I will take away the remnant of Judah who were determined to go to Egypt to settle there. They will all perish in Egypt; they will fall by the sword or die from famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or famine. They will become an object of cursing and horror, of condemnation and reproach.
  3. I will punish those who live in Egypt with the sword, famine and plague, as I punished Jerusalem.
  4. None of the remnant of Judah who have gone to live in Egypt will escape or survive to return to the land of Judah, to which they long to return and live; none will return except a few fugitives."
