에스겔

앗수르가 신흥 바벨론 제국에 의해 무너져 가는 시기에 부름받은 에스겔은 바벨론의 포로된 백성들에게 완전하고 최종적인 회복을 제시하며 위로하고 있다. 같은 시대의 예레미야가 예루살렘에서 멸망을 선포하는 동안, 에스겔은 현재 이스라엘이 받고 있는 형벌이 개인의 죄로 인한 결과임을 강조하면서 이스라엘이 반드시 회복된다는 희망을 심어 주고 있다.

1장부터 24장까지는 유다와 예루살렘에 대한 하나님의 심판에 대한 경고, 25장부터 32장까지는 이방에 대한 심판 선포, 33장부터 39장에서는 가까운 장래에 이루어질 이스라엘의 회복과 승리에 대한 예언, 그리고 40장부터 48장까지는 먼 미래에 이루어질 메시아 왕국에서 성취될 일을 선포하고 있다.

	에스겔 1:1-3:27 에스겔에게 환상을 보여 주신 하나님께서는 그를 선지자로 부르셔서 바벨론에서 포로 생활을 하는 이스라엘 백성에게 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 사명을 주셨다. 그리고 이 소명을 확증시키기 위해 그에게 두루마리를 받아 먹는 환상을 체험케 하셨다. 뿐만 아니라 하나님께서는 에스겔에게 능력을 주시고 이스라엘 민족의 파수꾼으로 삼으셨다.

	에스겔이 본 환상(1:1-1:28)

서른째 해 넷째 달 초닷새에 내가 그발 강 가 사로잡힌 자 중에 있을 때에 하늘이 열리며 하나님의 모습이 내게 보이니

여호야긴 왕이 사로잡힌 지 오 년 그 달 초닷새라

갈대아 땅 그발 강 가에서 여호와의 말씀이 부시의 아들 제사장 나 에스겔에게 특별히 임하고 여호와의 권능이 내 위에 있으니라

내가 보니 북쪽에서부터 폭풍과 큰 구름이 오는데 그 속에서 불이 번쩍번쩍하여 빛이 그 사방에 비치며 그 불 가운데 단 쇠 같은 것이 나타나 보이고

그 속에서 네 생물의 형상이 나타나는데 그들의 모양이 이러하니 그들에게 사람의 형상이 있더라

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,

The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

그들에게 각각 네 얼굴과 네 날개가 있고

그들의 다리는 곧은 다리요 그들의 발바닥은 송아지 발바닥 같고 광낸 구리 같이 빛나며

그 사방 날개 밑에는 각각 사람의 손이 있더라 그 네 생물의 얼굴과 날개가 이러하니

날개는 다 서로 연하였으며 갈 때에는 돌이키지 아니하고 일제히 앞으로 곧게 행하며

그 얼굴들의 모양은 넷의 앞은 사람의 얼굴이요 넷의 오른쪽은 사자의 얼굴이요 넷의 왼쪽은 소의 얼굴이요 넷의 뒤는 독수리의 얼굴이니

And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

그 얼굴은 그러하며 그 날개는 들어 펴서 각기 둘씩 서로 연하였고 또 둘은 몸을 가렸으며

영이 어떤 쪽으로 가면 그 생물들도 그대로 가되 돌이키지 아니하고 일제히 앞으로 곧게 행하며

또 생물들의 모양은 타는 숯불과 횃불 모양 같은데 그 불이 그 생물 사이에서 오르락내리락 하며 그 불은 광채가 있고 그 가운데에서는 번개가 나며

그 생물들은 번개 모양 같이 왕래하더라

내가 그 생물들을 보니 그 생물들 곁에 있는 땅 위에는 바퀴가 있는데 그 네 얼굴을 따라 하나씩 있고

Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

그 바퀴의 모양과 그 구조는 황옥 같이 보이는데 그 넷은 똑같은 모양을 가지고 있으며 그들의 모양과 구조는 바퀴 안에 바퀴가 있는 것 같으며

그들이 갈 때에는 사방으로 향한 대로 돌이키지 아니하고 가며

그 둘레는 높고 무서우며 그 네 둘레로 돌아가면서 눈이 가득하며

그 생물들이 갈 때에 바퀴들도 그 곁에서 가고 그 생물들이 땅에서 들릴 때에 바퀴들도 들려서

영이 어떤 쪽으로 가면 생물들도 영이 가려 하는 곳으로 가고 바퀴들도 그 곁에서 들리니 이는 생물의 영이 그 바퀴들 가운데에 있음이니라

The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

그들이 가면 이들도 가고 그들이 서면 이들도 서고 그들이 땅에서 들릴 때에는 이들도 그 곁에서 들리니 이는 생물의 영이 그 바퀴들 가운데에 있음이더라

그 생물의 머리 위에는 수정 같은 궁창의 형상이 있어 보기에 두려운데 그들의 머리 위에 펼쳐져 있고

그 궁창 밑에 생물들의 날개가 서로 향하여 펴 있는데 이 생물은 두 날개로 몸을 가렸고 저 생물도 두 날개로 몸을 가렸더라

생물들이 갈 때에 내가 그 날개 소리를 들으니 많은 물 소리와도 같으며 전능자의 음성과도 같으며 떠드는 소리 곧 군대의 소리와도 같더니 그 생물이 설 때에 그 날개를 내렸더라

그 머리 위에 있는 궁창 위에서부터 음성이 나더라 그 생물이 설 때에 그 날개를 내렸더라

When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

그 머리 위에 있는 궁창 위에 보좌의 형상이 있는데 그 모양이 남보석 같고 그 보좌의 형상 위에 한 형상이 있어 사람의 모양 같더라

내가 보니 그 허리 위의 모양은 단 쇠 같아서 그 속과 주위가 불 같고 내가 보니 그 허리 아래의 모양도 불 같아서 사방으로 광채가 나며

그 사방 광채의 모양은 비 오는 날 구름에 있는 무지개 같으니 이는 여호와의 영광의 형상의 모양이라 내가 보고 엎드려 말씀하시는 이의 음성을 들으니라

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

	에스겔의 소명(2:1-3:27)

그가 내게 이르시되 인자야 네 발로 일어서라 내가 네게 말하리라 하시며

그가 내게 말씀하실 때에 그 영이 내게 임하사 나를 일으켜 내 발로 세우시기로 내가 그 말씀하시는 자의 소리를 들으니

내게 이르시되 인자야 내가 너를 이스라엘 자손 곧 패역한 백성, 나를 배반하는 자에게 보내노라 그들과 그 조상들이 내게 범죄하여 오늘까지 이르렀나니

이 자손은 얼굴이 뻔뻔하고 마음이 굳은 자니라 내가 너를 그들에게 보내노니 너는 그들에게 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀이 이러하시다 하라

그들은 패역한 족속이라 그들이 듣든지 아니 듣든지 그들 가운데에 선지자가 있음을 알지니라

And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.

And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.

And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.

인자야 너는 비록 가시와 찔레와 함께 있으며 전갈 가운데에 거주할지라도 그들을 두려워하지 말고 그들의 말을 두려워하지 말지어다 그들은 패역한 족속이라도 그 말을 두려워하지 말며 그 얼굴을 무서워하지 말지어다

그들은 심히 패역한 자라 그들이 듣든지 아니 듣든지 너는 내 말로 고할지어다

너 인자야 내가 네게 이르는 말을 듣고 그 패역한 족속 같이 패역하지 말고 네 입을 벌리고 내가 네게 주는 것을 먹으라 하시기로

내가 보니 보라 한 손이 나를 향하여 펴지고 보라 그 안에 두루마리 책이 있더라

그가 그것을 내 앞에 펴시니 그 안팎에 글이 있는데 그 위에 애가와 애곡과 재앙의 말이 기록되었더라

And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.

But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

또 그가 내게 이르시되 인자야 너는 발견한 것을 먹으라 너는 이 두루마리를 먹고 가서 이스라엘 족속에게 말하라 하시기로

내가 입을 벌리니 그가 그 두루마리를 내게 먹이시며

내게 이르시되 인자야 내가 네게 주는 이 두루마리를 네 배에 넣으며 네 창자에 채우라 하시기에 내가 먹으니 그것이 내 입에서 달기가 꿀 같더라

그가 또 내게 이르시되 인자야 이스라엘 족속에게 가서 내 말로 그들에게 고하라

너를 언어가 다르거나 말이 어려운 백성에게 보내는 것이 아니요 이스라엘 족속에게 보내는 것이라

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel;

너를 언어가 다르거나 말이 어려워 네가 그들의 말을 알아 듣지 못할 나라들에게 보내는 것이 아니니라 내가 너를 그들에게 보냈다면 그들은 정녕 네 말을 들었으리라

그러나 이스라엘 족속은 이마가 굳고 마음이 굳어 네 말을 듣고자 아니하리니 이는 내 말을 듣고자 아니함이니라

보라 내가 그들의 얼굴을 마주보도록 네 얼굴을 굳게 하였고 그들의 이마를 마주보도록 네 이마를 굳게 하였으되

네 이마를 화석보다 굳은 금강석 같이 하였으니 그들이 비록 반역하는 족속이라도 두려워하지 말며 그들의 얼굴을 무서워하지 말라 하시니라

또 내게 이르시되 인자야 내가 네게 이를 모든 말을 너는 마음으로 받으며 귀로 듣고

Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted.

Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

사로잡힌 네 민족에게로 가서 그들이 듣든지 아니 듣든지 그들에게 고하여 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀이 이러하시다 하라

때에 주의 영이 나를 들어올리시는데 내가 내 뒤에서 크게 울리는 소리를 들으니 찬송할지어다 여호와의 영광이 그의 처소로부터 나오는도다 하니

이는 생물들의 날개가 서로 부딪치는 소리와 생물 곁의 바퀴 소리라 크게 울리는 소리더라

주의 영이 나를 들어올려 데리고 가시는데 내가 근심하고 분한 마음으로 가니 여호와의 권능이 힘 있게 나를 감동시키시더라

이에 내가 델아빕에 이르러 그 사로잡힌 백성 곧 그발 강 가에 거주하는 자들에게 나아가 그 중에서 두려워 떨며 칠 일을 지내니라

And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

Then I came to them of the captivity at Telabib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

칠 일 후에 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되

인자야 내가 너를 이스라엘 족속의 파수꾼으로 세웠으니 너는 내 입의 말을 듣고 나를 대신하여 그들을 깨우치라

가령 내가 악인에게 말하기를 너는 꼭 죽으리라 할 때에 네가 깨우치지 아니하거나 말로 악인에게 일러서 그의 악한 길을 떠나 생명을 구원하게 하지 아니하면 그 악인은 그의 죄악 중에서 죽으려니와 내가 그의 피 값을 네 손에서 찾을 것이고

네가 악인을 깨우치되 그가 그의 악한 마음과 악한 행위에서 돌이키지 아니하면 그는 그의 죄악 중에서 죽으려니와 너는 네 생명을 보존하리라

또 의인이 그의 공의에서 돌이켜 악을 행할 때에는 이미 행한 그의 공의는 기억할 바 아니라 내가 그 앞에 거치는 것을 두면 그가 죽을지니 이는 네가 그를 깨우치지 않음이니라 그는 그의 죄 중에서 죽으려니와 그의 피 값은 내가 네 손에서 찾으리라

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

그러나 네가 그 의인을 깨우쳐 범죄하지 아니하게 함으로 그가 범죄하지 아니하면 정녕 살리니 이는 깨우침을 받음이며 너도 네 영혼을 보존하리라

여호와께서 권능으로 거기서 내게 임하시고 또 내게 이르시되 일어나 들로 나아가라 내가 거기서 너와 말하리라 하시기로

내가 일어나 들로 나아가니 여호와의 영광이 거기에 머물렀는데 내가 전에 그발 강 가에서 보던 영광과 같은지라 내가 곧 엎드리니

주의 영이 내게 임하사 나를 일으켜 내 발로 세우시고 내게 말씀하여 이르시되 너는 가서 네 집에 들어가 문을 닫으라

너 인자야 보라 무리가 네 위에 줄을 놓아 너를 동여매리니 네가 그들 가운데에서 나오지 못할 것이라

Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

내가 네 혀를 네 입천장에 붙게 하여 네가 말 못하는 자가 되어 그들을 꾸짖는 자가 되지 못하게 하리니 그들은 패역한 족속임이니라

그러나 내가 너와 말할 때에 네 입을 열리니 너는 그들에게 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀이 이러하시다 하라 들을 자는 들을 것이요 듣기 싫은 자는 듣지 아니하리니 그들은 반역하는 족속임이니라

And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house.

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.
